From time to time I’ve heard people say they want to hit a certain db with their system. Just wonderin if some of these people even know how much a certain db really is. Maybe they do and I’m just a wuss when it comes to this kinda stuff :shrug:
Roughly, for every 3 db increase, you double your volume. The highest db car I’ve ever been without ear plugs in was 154.5. This instantly gave me a headache and I almost threw up. It was NOT fun. Maybe it was just me but everyone else that sat in that car, except the crazy a$$ owner of the truck, did not enjoy it at all. This was a fosgate setup. 4 12" fosgate subs(can’t remember the series, one series below the highest power handling sub they made in '01) and a fosgate bd1000 on each sub. In a custom made bandpass box
First off, you actually double the loudness at every integer(4to5).
We have a guy with a db mic and my car hits 142.7(3 12" audiobahn 400w to each , and my girlfriend hits 151.3(4JLw6 12’s approx450w to each. But we never sit in her car with her amps turned up. We use a podium, because bass comps around here it is mandatory to use one if you hit over 135 fro safety reasons. I will post a video soon of my buddy sitting in his van at a comp and his ears actually start to bleed a pinkish liquid at 151db
153.2 outlaw. I had plugs in though. I like my hearing That was with a single shocker Extreme 15, powered by a D2 at 1 ohm, 5.25 cubes with 90 sq in. of port, in the back of my old CRX. It was friggin awesome.
my car was metterd at 153.3 on the dash i compete in street 1-2, i have 2 12" 1 amp and stock electrical system. and i can burp it with no ear plugs and its doesnt hert me… the loudest car i have been in hit a 173.2(certified) i had my ears pluged tho it was a crazy feeling…

Sweet, what subs, box, amp, and vehicle was it in? You can burp 153 legal with out plugs and it doesn’t hurt you? How long was the burp and at what frequency? I’m a little puzzeled as to how you can do that

actually my friend you are wrong.a system is considered twice as loud as another at 10db.So you actually double the loudness at 10db not 4-5db.example for some others, if my system hits 150db and your system hits 160db your system is twice as loud as mine.

they are beyond audio inhumans… i have them in a portted box about 2.1 cubes per sub tuned to 43hz… i run 1 earthquake ph-d2, and its in a 85 crx… a burp only last about 3-4 seconds… but i can do it all day… but my face turns red and my ears feel numb… but for next year i will be running close to the same set up but a bigger amp, 3000wrms+ and a yellow top… i will also hae a crazy ass box to go with it… hopen for 156+

i think i will be running a modded D3 next year… yep it is my comp car i am goin to try make it to world finals next year… i can change the alt in my class i have t orun stock… yes the electical i lacking(i can shut my car off when i burp) but i hit 153 with the stock 405amp batt so once i put in a yellow top or comparable batt i should do better… to tell ya the truth i dont have a teg(but i am a honda nut ), but my good friend has one and i am installing a turbo in it this winter so thats why i found this site… plus every one is nice hear so i just stick around and learn as much as i can, but i am putting 2 12" beyond audio x-ones in his car… it will be nice…

Damn, those D3’s look so nice. That sucks how you have to keep the stock alt. because my electrical system in my old rex was severelly lacking with my D2. I think I could have got 153 legal if I would have bought a high output, but never got around to it. What size box, port area, and tuning are you gong with? Or are you keeping it the same? but my box that got 153 was 2.1 cubes per driver, 2 4" ports 12" long for a tuning of 43 hz the crx peeks at 50ish

those vans waigh a ton more then a stock one… depending on what class it was in… what kind of equipment was i running ?
I have always been told that anything in the high 150s and up can give you problems with your vascular sysem- such as your heart not beating correctly. Anyone know of this issue or experienced something like this?

i listen to my system at high 140;s probley reach the low 150’s of certain notes and i never had a problem… i have also sat in a car doin 173db now that felt funny when i got out thare was a HUGE presure differance but it went away in a couple seconds…
what the hell is the point of db comps anyways? wow, so much bass my ear bleeds. what the hell? I’ll never get it. I guess that’s what makes me an SQ freak.
