Whats A Good High Flow Cat?

i need a high cat. my stock catalytic conver sucks. it makes a nasty ratteling sound when i rev the engine. but none of the big companys like GREEDY, HKS, or DC make any cats for our cars… nad im not buying one of those NASTY ASS EBAY ONES… i dont want my car sounding like a piece of shit honda… alot of people tell me to just get a straight pipe with no cat… but it makes hondas sound hooribel! like a high pitched tin can or something… and i was racing my frined and his da sounds like shit with no cat and a bunch of smoke comes out and it looks horribel… i dont mind not gaining an extra 5-7 horse power with no cat… its not worth making you’re car sound like crap. any good brands for a decent HIGH FLOW cat for our DAs?

Carsound.

Also you might want to check the heat shield on that cat. They usually rattle when they are old/rusted. I had this problem back then and it was just the shield not secure on tight.

Though it may still be your cat going because its old and the clay are breaking up inside causing it to rattle when rev.

90051 I think

i too have a rattle in the exhaust. Yet to be determined though, new muffler and the heat shield is tied down to the cat with a hose clamp.

either the resonator or the cracked catalytic media.

DO NOT get a magnaflow direct bolt on cat. I got one and it did not fit. The holes were too small and after enlarging them it doesn’t sit straight. Just get a universal magnaflow (carsound) and have a shop weld it up right.

which one did you get? because i was thinking about getting that

I got the direct bolt on one. The holes for the spring bolts were too small so I made them bigger but I could only put one of them on with the spring. I would just get the universal one and have a good shop weld it up right for you.

thing is, i dont want anything welded. i want everything to bolt up, just looks much cleaner to me and i want to install it myself since i hate taking my car to places

Well if you get it welded have them re-use the old cat’s flanges so that you can remove it later if you want to. I can take pics tomorrow if you wish so you know what I am talking about.

take pics please

i have a catco high flow for sale.

go to smsp.com and tell them what you want and they will make what you want with the flanges on already. they have great products from what iv read.

What about the magan high flow/resonated cats? I’ve heard good things about these and that they really smooth out the sound of the car without making it too loud.

I tried to find the part number via kteller, but this is the one I bought. The 2.25" one.
(if that link does not work, goto www.kteller.com > store > exhaust > Cat > Universal. Its the $80.00 one thats 2.25".)

My NOX was 1 point below failing, on the the old cat, with this one, it was ~400 points below failing. Much better. It is a universal, but a dumpster dive into your local muffler shop’s dumpster, and you can find just about any flange you need.

won’t that one direct fit on my car without welding, it says directly for 90-91 and i have a 91 but im guessing that one i posted isnt HI-FLOW?

That is the one I got and it did not fit right. I would just get the universal one and have a shop weld it using your existing flanges.

how did it not fit?

Scroll up. Use your eyes. He states how it did not fit correctly, and what he did it try to make it fit.

EDIT: Let me also say that he explains all of this, when he told you to have them weld it all up. You responded to that, with a comment about how you don’t want to weld it up. You read and responded to the post your now asking him to repeat.
