Whats better to turbo?????????

lol!!! ok i get what your saying man no need to get upset…I just have one more question if i get a brand spanking new Ls bare block would i have to do anything else to it…and what i mean by that. like getting it honed or something that i might miss…and just 4 your info i want an extra bottom end just in case i blow the sucker… there now you dont have to get upset anymore thanks for the help Armed ferret…

You always get a block honed to the new pistons that are going in. Each piston maker has different tolerances for which that brand of pistons is designed, so you want to make sure the cylinder walls are within the proper tolerance for that specific piston.

That’s why I chuckle when I read about people getting all excited about having their block freshly honed and then wondering which pistons to buy.

Benson sleeves FTW! it’s gonna be just barely over 1000 and it’s well worth it. then u can go nuts with boost as long as u have a good tuner. i would highly suggest getting urself some cp pistons. just send ur spec sheet with the block when u get it sleeved, bored and honed

So really with aftermarket bolts rods and pistons there is no other weak link? Because it seems to me that if its not bored the block itself could handle over 1 Bar of boost. But would it strain past 350WHP ?

Cool thanks guys for all the help i’ll check out benson’s …oh yeah armed ferret what kind of issues of oil leaks and water leaks does the dart block get and does this happen over time

there’s an article about it in Honda tuning. they had to add some aluminum in the front of the block to aid in sealing the head gasket and opening up the water jackets between the sleeves, and the sand cast mold leaves the block rough, so it needs some machining and cleaning to say the least, and on top of that $2,300 block, I don’t see where it’s worth it over the sleeving…

stoopid

all i gotta say is if stoopid is tuning it then no need to worry with watever u do… my friend tuned his car there and made 309whp on a stock internal ls… that means head and block… and he was boosting 18 lbs… motor never blew and he pretty much drove it like he stole it… he had it in there for about 4 months… but now his car is down again due to fully building his gsr

Oh!!!.. Alright thanks…mogunz808…
So whats the big deal of stroker kits not going good with turbo’s

why would you need one? that would mean you would need another crank, and rods. completely not necessary for 400hp build, or even up to 600hp. just stick with the basics.

well thats what a stroker kit comes with crank, rods, pistons. bearings , piston rings

if i stick to the basic crank … what if i swaped my ls crank for a jdm b16 crank.you think it would help any just a ?

you can’t use a b16 crank in an LS block unless you get custom rods made. the rod/stroke ratio will be absolutely HORRIBLE for high revs. that’s why a stroker kit in honda engines never really helps things as much as it does on other platforms–hondas are made to get power in the higher rev ranges, which is exactly what a stroker kit isn’t made for.

oh alright thanks and stop getting frustrated Armed ferret…Thats why this forum is here to help those who dont know much in certain areas of performance…

people like armed ferret and others on here get tired of the same dumb questions that can be be simply answered by reading a little. it’s JDM, so it’s gotta be stronger mindset. read a little bit, and if you can’t find info. then ask. a comment like the above would make me think that you don’t know anything about what your trying to do. go back and read the G2IC Turbo guide.

it’s kind of hard not to when you’re asking not only really dumb questions, but ones to which the answers are both very elementary as well as already on this site numerous times.

the search button is flashing in red for a reason.

i really gotta step in and back mark up on this one. i have the same frustrations with members on here for the same reasons all the time. its what happenes when you know what you are talking about. dude search for other posts made by armed_ferret and you will see that he is being unusually kind to you and seriously trying to help you. thats why i posted, i couldnt believe it lol. but i also gotta back integ up on this one point… the forum is here for help (for everyone, not just newbs). that said, take advice from those that know more than you, in this case, mark and i… we’ve been doing this thing for some time now dude… do some research on rotating assemblies and rod/stroke ratios and everything he told you will be reiterated in research. the honda engineers werent just randomly throwing numbers around to come up with the dimensions of the b-series motor. if you want a stroker the lsvtec is about the best thing you can build, and look at all the reliability issue threads started about that. the key topic in most of them… rod/stroke ratios and how some think piston speed is out of control even with an 89mm crank. there, thats all the good advice you get from me until you do some serious research… when u do hit me up on aim if i dont respond to your thread in here. now you all cant say i wasnt nice.

I appreciate all the help guys espeacially from armed ferret thanks man…and thank you almostboosted…i’ll do some more research i pretty much know what im going to do now so thanks again guys

A 400whp DA? For a daily driver? Will it be practical?

400 whp daily driver…sounds like a hell of a lot of fun to me…
