Help guys my seal on my tdo5 blew out and need a rebuild kit. On ebay they go for 90 bucks shipped but thats high for a turbo i got for 75 dollars!!! should i rebuild or just get a new tdo5 cheap i’m not going to buy used turbos anymore good for a couple of months on used what used i do??? :bang:
I would buy the ebay kit and then take it to any place that works on turbos locally to have it balanced. Some say you can get away without balancing, and other wouldn’t risk it. I personally wouldn’t risk it. BTW $90 isn’t that bad for a rebuild kit at all. It’s about the going rate.

Bah, i have been running a rebuilt by me turbo for well over ten thousand miles, just think logically mark turbing shaft adn compressor wheel before disassembly and get some TINY snap ring pliers (craftsman professional series) and have at it
as for just needing a rebuild kit, How are u soo sure? is it blowing oil, turbine contacting housing… ect need to explain your problem b/c a rebuild may be a lost cause if anything other than seals, and bearings are destroyed…
as for blowing a seal u can by them seperatly.
