Tools I used:
–Box Cutter (a sharp one)
–large pliers (to pull the clips off after i lightly cut into them)
–straight edge (to make sure you cut a nice STRAIGHT line for a cleaner look)
–Sand paper (for the finishing touch to make it look O.E.)
–sheet metal screws (for mounting silly :gay: )
–Industrial double sided tape (to place it before you screw it on)
The red lines show where i cut with the box knife and what i cut off.
The blue shows where i sanded the sideskirts to make them fit better and look cleaner.
REMEMBER: when cutting off the overhang…leave about 1/8th -1/4 of an inch of overhang!!!
Sorry i only have pictures of the completed sideskirts, i was too excited to remember to take pictures as i went along.
 i have been serarching ALL THE TIME for a real way to put these on!!! thank you!! doin this as soon as i get home and get my g3 GSR sideskirts that are in my room!!
i was going to do the same write up but my stupid brother deleted all the pictures i took. Good job on the article and on the modifications! It looks really clean!
Hey, if some one could send me a picture of their G3 sideskirt BEFORE they cut it, that would be great! I think it will be easier to understand than the pics with them already cut.
I don’t know if you do…i’m sure you can find a way to leave them on, I know they fit on G3’s with mudflaps. just be creative. I took mine off because they always scraped on speed bumps and looked kind of gay anyway.
Killahteg - I don’t think they will work from a 2-door G3. Get measurements off of a 4-door and see if it’s the same length as your car.
steve-o - I put two screws on each end, I re-used the mudflap screws & holes in the front, and just drilled new holes for the back. Then i used 3-4 screws along the bottom. As for rust prevention, each hole i drilled, i filled with silicone right before i put the screw in.
do you guys have problems with the g3 side skirts contracting or loosing their shape in the heat, it hit the 90’s today and I notice the side skirt sagging a little…but it seemed to go back to normal by night time
Yes, this also happened to me the last two days (Thrus=92° Fri=96°)
but living in Washington, we shouldn’t have to worry about this more than a couple times a year.
It may be worth attempting to hold up the side skit by some other means stronger than double-stick tape. You may be able to drill a hole somewhere down the length of the car for use of a plastic trim clip. A lot of cars today use a plastic clip, like a threaded bolt with a flat head. Fasten the flat head sid to the side skirt and insert the threaded end into the drilled hole. Not sure, but I think this may work pretty effectivly.
One other option too, maybe a little easier than the first one I suggested. When you consider how you are mounting the side skirt, there are only two bolts that solidly hold the piece to the car. Their is one bolt on either end, on the underside of the side skirt. What if, you drilled a third bolt somewhere nearing the middle, underside of the side skirt. This may also reduce the sag by the double stick tape.
