Where to find built turbo block?

Oh, also add in the cost of an engine hoist and stand… How much DO those things cost?

alnen

engine hoist stand (all in one) was around $180 at the store I was at.

it could lift 1500 pounds… which is more than enough

also to tenzo…

are you saying you would rather have ductile iron sleeves than a block guard? for your information, aluminum has way better heat dissipation than iron… something to think about. and the block guards dont resist flow all that much, and if your really worried about it, you can modify the block guard with a drill and punch some extra holes

are you saying a block guard is better than sleeves? :squint:

Modifying the block guard will also weaken it, as it is nowhere near as strong as the iron sleeves.

A sleeved block will stand up WAY better under high boost, than just a blockguard. The aluminum/silicone cylinders flex, warp, and crack under stress, and while aluminum may dissipate heat better, the iron stands up to the stress, and can withstand much higher temperatures. Also, sleeves like the Dartons have a sort of blockguard built in to the tops of the cylinders, with coolant jackets drilled in them.

no I definitely did not say that :bawl:

I’m just saying a block guard would be more economic for 7-10 maybe even a little more psi.

but if you can get it re-sleeved with no problems, then more power to you.

How much boost could you run with sleeves and proper rods/pistons/etc???

A properly built, sleeved motor can easily handle 20+ psi … the sleeves are said (at least the Darton style) to be able to withstand 35psi … whether the internals you use can handle that much stress is another issue.

or u can just buy one of these http://www.dartheads.com/blhonda.htm

Nice find!! Any idea on prices …

sorry i do not know. Darton sleeves are used and as far as i know DART is VERY reputable. im sure the price will be outrageous.

I’d be interested in knowing the prices too…

OK, I emailed the guy, and here is how he responded:

“The blocks arent available yet, but soon, they will retail for about $1950.00. We dont sell direct so you will have to contact a dealer for accurate price. These are brand new blocks, not sleeved factory blocks. We fixed the non supported sleeve problem the factory blocks has. We did this my putting an actual deck on the top of the block with water passages, the block will have ductile iron sleeves, and billet steel main caps. This isn`t a production block, but a “race block” warranty covers defects, if you go out and make 1200 horsepower and break a rod or crank and hurt the block you would either buy another or we might be able to repair it for a charge. Thanks”

Shiet, that’s a serious piece … overkill for street use, sounds like to me … but I’m sure those who can afford it will use it!:whoa:

www.importbuilders.com to me is the best builder around, they are located in Fullerton, Ca. I have an IB motor in my car and I make 489whp at 17 lbs. 91 integra
