im lookin to buy a block already built for turbo application…eg…balanced crank(rotating assembly), new rod bearings, aftermarket rods, pistons low comp, honed and or bored over slightly…? anyplaces sell these?
you might tyry some of the major engine builders like KG, JG, or some of your local tuner shops
sligtly used block are fine also…im only into built blocks, not the stock everything and add turbo, NONONO< haha, whats JG and KG and all those websites? i bet they charge more thn me to peice one together
ur wallets about to get raped:D
You are going to end up paying through the a$$ if you let any of these shops build it for you. Get yourself a spare block for a 150 bucks with the crank and put in your own internals you desire in it. Theres no point in buying something that any local engine builder can do. If you ever have a problem with your motor you have to pull it out and ship it back to JG or KG, where a local guy is right in your nieghbourhood and can’t B.S you about whats wrong with it (warrantee is worth more then you can imagine when you have got a problem). Our blocks are simple. Forged pistons and rods with a good block guard is all you need for any street application making 350 to 400hp with good tuning (key word is GOOD TUNING).![]()
i dont wanna use a block gaurd because it restricts coolant, maybe if it want a daily id use one, if tuned right the stock walls are fine
Tenzoteg92- Don’t believe the hype. I have a STR block guard in my motor (B18a non vtec) with the stock fan, shroud, rad and thermostat and my car doesn’t overheat. Plus our temps up here this summer were brutally hot and I drive my car every day. I have forged pistons and rods in my car with a TypeR oil pump and I boost 15psi daily without any problems. Prep your block properly and you will have no problems. The key ingredient to a successfull instalation of a block guard is letting your engine builder tap it in according to spec ( 1/8th of an inch down the coolant jacket). Alot of people do it themselves without measuring it properly and screw things up by thinking they know it all. Just a little food for thought. Good luck and keep us informed.![]()
do you have a pic of the block with the guard? how much was the guard? whts the best brand of the guards?
what FMS are you running and ecu for 15 psi
Import Builders and Golden Eagle have crate engines. But I’d talk to your local tuner and machine shop if I were you. MIKE is right, if you have a problem you can go directly to them. STAY AWAY FROM JG!!!

I personally think STR makes the best block guards out there. I bought mine for $100 U.S. As for my fuel management I am using a Zdyne Gold ecu with 450cc injectors and a 150 Walbro pump which is getting changed this weekend for a set of 720cc injectors and a 255 Walbro pump. If anyone is interested I am selling my injectors and fuel pump for $160 U.S.
nice pics there mike. great job on the custom turbo setup!
just curious where did you get your Zydne gold ECU?
from Zdyne
JG has a bare, sleeved block you can buy for $795 USD … not bad, considering sleeves are $550, then add machine work. I’m beginning to look at that option more seriously. Only thing that worries me is the rep. JG has for being extremely slooowwwww.
u have to provide the block i assume thats why it says exchanged after the price???
Most likely … same thing for GEM.
MIKE…
How much do you want for the 450 injectors? I already got a walbro 255 that im gonna run with my vortch fmu for fuel management… I need injectors though… drop me a line if you still have them at turbointegra@excite.com
thanks
ALEX
LSturbo- you got mail.
I wouldnt let JG put gas in my car.

???
Let’s say one bought a spare block with crank. To build a decent reliable setup for a turbo, say 14+ PSI, how much additonal money would it cost? I’m talking totally building up the block, but not wasting money. I guess for the sleeves, one would have to take the block to a machinist or something? All I know is I couldn’t do that part by myself. This would be a whole learning experience for me, so I can learn about engines. I plan on buying my G2 Teg, putting in a sound system, then start to build a FI engine on the side. Like I said, I will need everything necessary when starting from scratch. How much of it would I be able to do by myself? I plan on totally beefing up the internals, so I can get some crazy boost and still remain reliable. Figuring in the cost of getting the block sleeved, the block itself, pitsons, rods, belts, etc, how much ballark do you think it’s going to cost? It’s gonna be really cool because I can just buy/add parts as I get the money (I will have about $300 left over for this side project every month, so it will be an ongoing project). I’m guessing something like $5,000 for the engine build + another $2,500 for a custom turbo setup. At that point I guess I would need a new tranny/clutch too, so factoring that in, does $9,000 total sound realistic, or would it be much more/less?
