and it hits the left side of the exhaust cut out in the bumper…
Im not aware of HKS making a different version for 90-91 and 92-93…?
I have put new OEM rubber hangers for all 5 hangers, and by moving where it sits on the hangers can get it to sit in the middle of the opening, but it hits a part of the suspension under the rear passengers wheel…
wow, thats a tough one, the bumper where it touches. is it the inner part (more towards the front of the car), or the outer part?(more towards the back of the car)
Its like the lip of the canister hits right in the middle of the "depth"of the cut out… Ill snap a more detailed pic and post it later… thanks for the reply

and with this one you can see how it sits to the side…

hmm, that pretty much sux huh. the only thing i can think of would be to have the piping before the muffler shortened. in the pick above it looks like it can be cut above the “31” in the date.
looks like a 1/2" would clear it. im sure any competent muff shop can fix that without focking it(or the exhaust flow) up too bad…
hth, if i think of anything else ill let ya know

i think i saw something about 92-93s having to use an adapter on some site i was pricing them on. i’m picing mine up and installing it tomorrow, so i’ll let you know if it’s different. i have a '90 BTW.
Over in Japan, HKS Hiper is only available for 90-91 G2Tegs. I called a few places for it and they told me it wont fit (without modification, of course).
you may want to try some aluminum heat shielding that’s adhesive, and cut to fit and apply on the underside of the bumper cutout (not the bumper itself, but where the heat scarring is).

can anyone confirm this?
If I was to modify it, I was thinking that I could bend the hanger that comes off the pipe nearest the canister
whaddya think?
cspeed: thanks for the reply, but my bumper is already beyond repair, when I get the car painted I will be replacing it so I want to get this problem fixxed before then.
clayton: Thanks, I will be awaiting your word on yours, but Im pretty sure that it will fit correctly. My friend Jeff (turboteg1.8) has one on his 91 and it fits like it is supposed to.:argh:
paz92ls: Thanks for the reply also, but I wont be going quite that far to correct it, maybe Ill get a 90 - 91 rear bumper when it comes time.
i put mine on today & it sticks out farther than that. i really think i remember seeing that you need an adapter for 92-93. check some sites that sell them & see if you see anything about it. mine sticks out a few inches past the bumper. HTH.
BTW it’s a different part number on hks’ website, so maybe make sure you got the right one (or, like i said maybe the adapter).
Hey guys! How does that exhaust sound? Is it nice and smooth or kinda high and tinny? Any other brand exhaust you might be able to compare the sound to?
so evidently, it is available for all 2gs over there…
if you want the little pipe that came off my car (stock piece between downpipe & cat that would push the whole system back about 4-5 inches), let me know & i’ll send it to you with the springy bolts if you just pay to ship it. it seems as though i don’t need it with my dc header.
ducky, the system sounds great. it’s deep and not at all what i expected. the dc 4-2-1 + carsound cat + hks hiper is the cleanest sounding combo i’ve ever heard on a 2g. reminds me of the sound of my ex gf’s old 92 'lude Si with a cat-back.

although it is available for all year g2’s. there are two different part numbers for 90-91 and 92-93.

nafreak: maybe you got the 90-91 model by mistake instead of the 92-93 model. this may be what is causing the tip to rub the bumper. a simple, cheap fix, maybe, is to get the exhaust hangers bent or new ones put in so it angles the tip to the point where it won’t rub the bumper.
clayton: I sure would appreciate it, im willing to try just about anything at this point. I have a small extension that I got from the junkyard, but Im not sure it would fit, here are my pics of it tell me if it is the same as yours…
One side is offset, will it werk like this? I dont think it will thats why I havent tried it yet… <----- LAZY
ducky808: it is the best exhaust I have heard so far, I would compare it to whatever Greddy that angel had on his car, maybe even quiter. When you get on it, it lets it self be known, but when your off the throttle crusing, it quites right down. I routinely take 8 hours drives home, and it has never bothered me. My peeps were trippin on it at the last meet.

yeah that’s it man, i would just try slapping that between the header & cat. mine had some wierd springy bolts on it, but if you don’t have 'em i don’t think it’ll cause a problem. good luck man.
