i have a 92 integra with a 96 b18bls and i am installing a new xs power twisted ram turbo kit. it seems no matter what pipe i try to fit it won’t work. the first one was way off and the one i’m trying now has to come forwards in the engine bay to mount to the turbo but is hitting the support underneath. do i have to take it out or something? what would i do to strengthen it up?
yea alot of people have that issue where it hits the crossmember… Some people notch it and reweld others will buy a less interference crossmember like the full race one… hth
thanks. i’m sweating here and cutting it close to a deadline. i’m trying to get this together for the meet in new jersey i was worried about weakening the support but i got to do something.what would a full race one cost and where can i find one? i’ve tried ebay but can’t find nothing for the front.
check xenocron in the sponsor section for Avid, or contact Z10 since your near jersey for one of theres. Avid is prolly the cheaper out of the 3. F-R and Z10 both cost $425, BUT well worth it and they both utilise the front motor mount. F-R does sit low so if your low, you could be scraping!!
i run the z10 worth every penny and i dont scrap when i bottom out
well for now i am notching a spare crossmember i had from a parts car cause i’m flat broke and if i don’t pay the insurence this month i wont’ be able to drive at all so i guess it’s a sacrafice i’ll have to make for now. i’m definately looking into getting the avid crossmember soon.
tell us how the turbo kit works out…im sure uve read all the past bad reviews on the ebay kits.
yeah i’ve read that stuff and seen the pictures. i mean any weld can have a slight defect and blow apart when your pushin boost. it really doesn’t look like any part of it is weak at all. it looks like an experienced weld job. compared to the homemade kit that was in here, the airflow is going to be soooo much smoother, it’ll sound better, won’t have any cracks or leaks (right away at least…we’ll see what this thing is worth), and it looks pretty sinister. ill post some pictures when i get the time. i got almost everything bolted in, just waiting for my downpipe to be welded, make a few adjustments on the crossmember situation, and my new radiator coming hopefully by thursday i’m set. it looks sweet, hope it runs the same
well, it’s only been about 4 days and a little over 250 miles and the ebay turbo kit is doing fine. no cracks yet, no odd noises or problems. it’s still too soon to tell but i think the kit is work the $650. the little bit of play that was there at first went away with oil as i thought it would. blowoff sounds awesome, wastegate opens nicely, it’s definately not a kit for someone trying to be secretive. when i go by everyone says all they here is the wastegate open, the turbo starts suckin some mass air and the blowoff is rediculous
for the price. but hey this is my opinion/experience, and what i am told, there are probably different kits, so maybe i got a good one.
i have a manifold from them they changed companies that use to do the welds…(thats what it said with the kit they sent me anyways) but anyways ive ran it for a whille and no problems… had a spare log one as a backup end up selling it since it held up!!!
yeah i had a log to start with and it completely sucked. definately a backup if anything. it cracked between all the pipes and completely around them.
