why do people hate hondas?

recently i have been getting unusually bothered by all the people that talk tremendous amounts of sh1t about hondas. i have been challenging them as to their reason. they either dont have a reason or the main argument point for them is the fact its fwd… or “fail” wheel drive…

my question is, what is the problem with hondas that i need to carry some sort of shame in owning and building one. i honestly dont understand…

They’re economical family cars that people spend a shitload of money on trying to make into something they aren’t. It’s not the cars, it’s the mentality that somehow wheels and a wing make it a race car.

so by default the rest of us that actually pursue performance based goals with our eco cars are put in the same category as the people that try to replicate a bugatti front end on their eg hatch?

Yeah pretty much. Just because our cars weren’t originally labeled as “sports” cars people think they are a waste of time, slow, etc. Just tell them about some of the builds like Danny on T-I and his 650hp Integra haha. In the end though, “haterz gonna hate”

they are all just jealous of our gas mileage

your words, not mine.

if a person has performance-oriented goals, there are far better places to start than mom’s grocery getter.

don’t get me wrong, hondas are great cars with a proven reliability record and good insurance rates.

if you’re trying to build a race car, though, not the best place to start. all i’m sayin’.

if someone wants to try and get 650 (peak) horses to the ground, in a front-wheel-drive chassis, that’s their perogative. always wondered what happens to the special ed kids when they get their GED’s…

I think they make fine race cars. Its all a matter of perspective and that’s why there are different race classes. Is 650hp a realistic goal? Not with a Honda. Is it possible for a decent track oriented integra to be competitive. Hell yes. Will it run with a C6? Not really, but it will be almost as fun and shit tons cheaper.

uh did the HSV not just win the Super GT in Japan? who cares if we’re FWD when we can take pride in what the company’s doing.

I just bought another integra and fell into this conversation with friends and neighbors. Basically, I told them for the price I couldnt have gotten a better more reliable vehicle with great gas mileage. I was originally looking for a Used Tacoma but every single one I found had 150k+ miles with a $5k or more price tag. So theres my $.02.

And it depends on what kind of racing you folks are talking about… 650whp isn’t a lot at all when you’re talking competitive 1/4 mile cars. Try 900whp+ for a sub 10s car.

Stereotypes exist for a reason, and that reason is that there is quite a bit of truth to it… the majority of ‘modded’ Hondas people see are simply riced out buckets with an AutoZone fart-can and ugly ass decals. So yes, we all get thrown into the same category as them, because, they’re all Hondas.

Rarely have the people that bash Hondas actually seen an ACTUAL, proper race-oriented Honda. I guarantee most people would have a greater respect for Hondas if they saw the cars out there that are breaking into the 8s in a quarter mile… Or the race-prepped EF hatches with a simple B18B swap that hang with STi’s and M3s on road courses.

But as armedferret mentioned, most people just see mom’s grocery-getter with ugly non-functional modifications and the douche-bag drivers that think they’re in a fast racecar.

Most people hate the Honda brand cause they are just ignorant assholes. Plain and simple. It’s like hardcore Ford guys who act superior yet they are usually the ones who paint flames on their fox body…but it’s a v8 so it’s alright…gay.

That’s like saying “I have a Backstreet Boys poster, so I am just as responsible for them making shitloads of money as they are!”

if there was a like button… i would click the hell out of it…

the way i see it, taking the hondas that people choose to build up and putting them in the category as the grocery getter is prejudice against hondas. there are people out there that use s13 s14 to " get grocerys" and the same goes for the tsx, tl, rsx, skylines (over here), and so on… does that hold true that any vehicle that is used outside of its design is considered a “grocery getter”.

the cars listed above are sports cars except for the tl and tsx i guess. if they werent then i dont see why honda put the power plant in them that they did. for the people that use these cars as dd’s instead of for their performance purpose makes is the same as the idea that the “grocery getter, economical” hondas that get used for performance goals are pointless. im not talking about building a full on race car but a street car with a little power that a lot of us on this forum do. just because the vehicle that the person chooses to customize and build up wasnt designed for the purpose doesnt make it anything less than what that person is trying to achieve.

there are “ricers” in every car scene, high end like evos and subarus and the same goes for us in honda land. we just have more of them because our vehicles are so inexpensive it makes it easy for a large amount of people to get a hold of them.

just because the majority are silly kids that do dumb things doesnt mean the minority that knows what theyre doing should have to suffer…

Guess I grew up learning that if you don’t like the answer, maybe next time it’s best to wonder quietly.

This thread is fun

my nominee for thread of the decade.

I find it funny that people still don’t want to admit that a Honda is a great platform for performance or daily general use. For the reliability , performance, and price you can’t beat it.

The suspension design, timeless style, engine technology, compatibility between models and engine parts are all reasons to invest. To say a Civic and Integra are not directed to performance is just silly. It’s been proven competitive over and over with multiple chassis. The company obviously marketed both cars to performance with Type R models. No they might no be the best but for the money and availability you really can’t beat it.

CRX + K series = low 12’s high 11’s with just a swap and tune. That’s with 200hp and under 200ft lbs of tq. That’s a regular street car with or without groceries lol. I have seen K swapped hatches kill evos/STIs with basic bolt on’s.

Here is a video of a local shop here (Hybrid Racing) on an Evo. This is an old video.

It’s my opinion of course but you have to give credit where it’s due. I mean I see a lot of sports cars at the grocery store lol. Does that mean they are all simply grocery getters? The American market got the shit end of the stick with Honda. So I can see why a lot of people don’t think of them as anything but eco boxes.

2 kinds of people that hate Hondas:
People who have never been to a road race track and people that can’t understand why a FWD grocery getter keeps passing them around turns.

That kid is such a faggot for so many different reasons. Him and theGSRguy are the two main reasons i haven’t been to that site in years. Bunch of nut swingers over there.

How did I know this was you halfway thru reading it before looking at the poster
