why do people hate hondas?

 • fast
 • reliable
 • cheap

Pick any two. Having all three is impossible.

Of course this is all relative and opinion. Your opinion of cheap may differ from mine and I’m sure my opinion of fast is quite different than yours.

I have all three. I win.

So you have an 8 second car that never breaks and it cost under $5000?

We run a 6 second car that never breaks but it’s $150,000.

Its all relative.
I find it funny that people still don’t want to admit that a Honda is a great platform for performance or daily general use. For the reliability , performance, and price you can’t beat it.

The suspension design, timeless style, engine technology, compatibility between models and engine parts are all reasons to invest. To say a Civic and Integra are not directed to performance is just silly. It’s been proven competitive over and over with multiple chassis. The company obviously marketed both cars to performance with Type R models. No they might no be the best but for the money and availability you really can’t beat it.

CRX + K series = low 12’s high 11’s with just a swap and tune. That’s with 200hp and under 200ft lbs of tq. That’s a regular street car with or without groceries lol. I have seen K swapped hatches kill evos/STIs with basic bolt on’s.

Here is a video of a local shop here (Hybrid Racing) on an Evo. This is an old video.

It’s my opinion of course but you have to give credit where it’s due. I mean I see a lot of sports cars at the grocery store lol. Does that mean they are all simply grocery getters? The American market got the shit end of the stick with Honda. So I can see why a lot of people don’t think of them as anything but eco boxes.
I’ve owned multiple integras, 240SX’s and AWD DSM’s. All three cars felt different driving. The Integra was a spirited drive kind of car. Peppy and nimble, but not fast. The 240 was a whore. It wanted to be thrown into every corner I took. Handled like it was on rails and would grip and go. Driving experience in this car was my favorite and I got 33 mpg, far better than either of my integras. The DSM’s I had were just powerhouses. Easy to modify, easy to make power, easy to work on. My favorite car to work on and build. To me, sexiest of all three. All three types of cars were reliable.

I’m going to disagree with you about it being a performance platform. You can throw enough money at anything and make it a “performance” vehicle. Any car can give you want you want if you do things the right way. From my experience, I got more power from my DSM much easier and faster than the other two cars. 200hp is not worth bragging about. I’ll take your CRX + K Series and raise you a Mirage with a 4G63 swap. Cheaper and faster all day. I’ll take a shitty 90 S13 with a red top sr20det before a rex with a k swap.

My point isn’t to argue with you about what’s better. It’s to point out it really is a matter of opinion. Like Dussy said, what I find to be fast is likely going to be much different than what you find. Driving experience are different on each of those cars. As soon as I got into a RWD and AWD car, I swore I’d never own another FWD car again.

Oh, and I’m not saying I hate Hondas, either. I can just see why people don’t like them.

Just my take on part of the issue.

People starting modifying Honda’s in the US. They achieved excellent results and built some great cars. Many caught on and misunderstood the amount of time, research, money and energy that this took. The part of the car community that embraces rice, cheap parts, fads, junk cars, shortcuts and generally follows through with mods in a distasteful manner without researching flocked to Honda’s because they were readily affordable and abundant. While I can’t blame them for not investing a lot money, not following through and doing unsafe modifications (their right to choose), fact is that I see more modified Honda’s with mufflers bolted to stock exhaust pipes, dented fenders and paint, primer, cut springs, huge wings, steelies, visual mods only and knock off parts then I see builds representing clean OEM/race function and aesthetics. I’ve met way too many people who some how convinced themselves that they are driving around in a secret race car. This same immature approach also rubs off on the way they call attention to themselves and their cars. The combination of all of this has caught Honda’s a bad rep. In my mind the economy has pushed a lot of the band wagoners and ricers out. I think the scene went back to an enthusiast type. Though smaller, it has improved greatly. Unfortunately the damage has already been done with Honda’s rep.

People are going to hate no matter what, like us Honda guys hating on people with STIs, SRTs and so on. Just because there cars fast off the lot, they think there the shits, but bitch/talk there shit (CRY) when our honda smokes the living shit out of them.
V8s, and all them cars built fast from the manufacturers aren’t shit. Yeah there fast, but for less then 2k, a well built honda will beat them hands down, and still have gas to take a trip to the beach…lol
What i don’t understand, is why are Honda haters even on this site in the first place? Yeah, anyone’s welcome on here, but whats the point?

Also a deathtrap.

^^^Agreed if your a stupid kid on his first ride, which 90% usually are.

If you ride like no one else can see you, there will be no issues unless it’s your own.

my friend with an RL was telling me how suby owners were smack talking SH-AWD, and likening the system to the CRV’s electrical “AWD”, and making comparisions between the CRV and a Subaru. When in actuality it’s a much more sophisticated system than the CRV’s, and Suby’s in general.

They’re just sad they dont have a fancy awd system. SH-AWD is on par if not better than Subaru’s.

I rode every day in San Antonio rush hour traffic and I’m still here. If you’re a defensive rider, it’s easy to stay safe. If you ride like a retard and are more worried about doing wheelies for high school girls than the old lady on her cell phone who’s merging into your lane, then yes… it can be a death trap.

I rode for years as well, and was also defensive, but still didn’t help with the crazy drivers out there. You can ride defensive all you want, but it only takes one asshole to take your life away. I was one of the lucky ones, cause after going around a blind corner, and seeing a truck in my lane and crashing over a rail, then rolling and tumbling down a hill, all i got was a bad road rash and thorns in my ass…

Its a deathtrap waiting to happen.

Going head on with that truck in a honda wouldn’t have been any better.

At least the EMT can cut you out alive, instead of scraping your dead self off the street, big difference. Seat belts and a 5 star rated Honda= saving life’s. A 500lbs crotch rocket with only a helmet (BRAIN BUCKET)= kiss your ass goodbye… And that goes with any motorbike for that matter…

I thought crash-ratings were only 0-5 stars… they rate them on a scale of 10 now??

HAHA, Oops :bang:

1991 Acura Integra - 4 star crash rating

I’d rather have the maneuverability of a bike than be stuck in that head on position with a little car vs a truck.

Your choice, and i respect that.
Don’t get me wrong, i loved riding, and would love to own another bike, but its the crazy people out there that scares me, so i rather stick to the 4 wheel ABS Handa with that 4 star rating…lol

OP, to get back on topic. People are going to hate no matter what, so don’t let it bother you.
I had a guy at an auto store try talking shit about me car, saying his jeep would run it over, so i called his ass out to a race, and he starts saying he would take me on the dirt only, and so i looked at him and told him only kids play in dirt, and walked away…
That guy hasn’t said a word yet to me, cause he knows i would smoke that POS straight 6 in the blink of an eye.
