I picked up a turbo manifold for dirt, and I’m wondering if it will support a 15lb turbo spooling 10psi? The welds on this manifold certainly don’t look like a 600 dollar ramhorn from insert reputable company but that doesn’t necessarily mean the manifold is crap right? Well I don’t know, I’m 100% inexperienced with boosting, just looking for some advice.
you already have it, I guess you can give it a try. other than that I guess you don’t have the money for a better mani, so make do with what you have. just brace the runners to the collector. you can also look at these. I’d recommend that too just to be on the safe side.
Yeah, I mean I suppose I can always buy a new manifold later if this one fails. Although I’d like to resell this one before that happens if I knew in advance it was going to happen because I wouldn’t be able to repair the manifold myself.
I’m not quite sure how something like this would help, would you just fabricate another bracket from the motor to attach to the third hole?
you can use the helm joint option and rig something up. every turbo manifold will be different. well the collector does look like trash. that’s a Ebay mani- but like I said, give it a try.
should do only thing u gota worry about is the weight not how much boost ur running because at the end of the day the exhaust manifold isnt presurized its just used for removing the gases through the turbo…
That sucks imaqicstick. I ended up selling mine and going with a Blox cast manifold because I didn’t have the capability of fixing it myself should it need repairs.
I have used the exact same ss auto manifold. It’s called the sidewinder/twisted or some shit like that. Anyway, ended up performing GREAT. We threw a cheap kit together HMT style. Ching Chong Meow turbo. Welds never blew.
We showed up at a local dyno day with no intentions of making a pull. Finally after much harassment that it wouldn’t make much, we slapped an FMU on just to make a pull. Pull was done on about 7.5lbs and made 210whp with 198 ft lbs tq. on a bone stock ls. This was completely untuned with an FMU and also on a Dyno Dynamics which is known to read low numbers.
BUT, as everyone already knows. It really is a hit or miss with this company and parts. Throw the bitch on, if it cracks reweld it or change it. It’s not that hard.
Yes B18b1 so same shit. I wouldn’t recommend just turning up the boost other than what it’s tuned on. Unless you have a wideband to monitor what’s going on I would never do it. We were on the wastegate spring so we couldn’t go any lower. This motor was also very very healthy. It was just your standard Chinese t3/t4e.
