older pre 90’s celica, hell yes, those 87(?) celica gt hatchbacks were one of my favorite cars for a while, its no wonder i went to a integra eventually.
newer celica? hell no, with exceptions though.
turbo and/or 4wd… sure. lower miles, safer, better condition inside and out… probably.
and yea, my wife drives a 91 celica st.
tiny little shitbox of a car but its reliable as hell. bought it for myself because i needed a car ASAP one weekend when i had 2 cars go to shit.
its so cramped inside i couldn’t drive it comfortably and the manual shifter did not like me, i could drive it but it was so damn picky with shifting. so i grabbed the g2 automatic i have now.
i kind of like the 2k celica GT but it would have to be in mint condition to trade my G2 for it.
but then my g2 teg is in bad shape outside and lots of minor things wrong with it that i don’t care to fix like bushings, speedometer cable, outside window trim on the doors. etc.

If you want a chick car…I haven’t met a person (guy) that likes that car. I have no idea how the handling or whatever for that car. If your purpose is that you want a newer car. There are tons of selections out there. Whats getting you on the celica?
hows i celica a chick car.?? i own one as well as a DA… the celica is a lot faster than any gsr lol… so please get the facts right before u start talking about what u dont know… handeling is way better than any honda. and the 2zzge from the gts can be found in the lotus elise and also the toyota Mr2. u guys dont own a celica.? so before start talking trash about one… have facts and experience about them!

Celica gts are way better than DA’s in general… that comment may offend many people here but lets face the truth.! is a better can, by me saying that dont mean i dont love my DA, cuz i do but i accept the fact that there are better cars out there than a DA and the 2000 celica gts in one of them.
If having a celica is having a chick car?? i dont get how having a better car making a guy a (chick) by having them? when overall in performance and confort they take the package deal.?? being ignorant about facts is not right… the only motor better than a 2zzge is the k20!, which was the reason honda came out with that series motor cuz the celica was destroying all B series and Gsr and SI’s out there…

to put it into perspective, try going on a celica dedicated site and ask the members if they’d trade there 00 gts for a 90-93 integra. they’d probably reply with something along the lines of you being kicked in the head one too many times

they just get intiminated by the fact the GTS would kill they Ls motor even the gsr has no chance against a gts. i have a DA and it does not stand a chance against my GTS unless swapped and boosted … lol…

they also need to recognized and accept when a better Car than a Da steps in the same room! there is nothing wrong with that. it actually makes you a better person to just say yes, the celica GTs is a better Car. But i love my Da. nothing wrong by doing that!

well, i don’t really like to use the term “better”. they’re different cars. the celica is a more advanced car. it’s that simple. but it’s also proportionate to it’s cost. reason i love my da is that i bought this car for 500$. needed an engine, so i threw in a b20, which cost 400$. the body was/is in great shape. the interior is so spacious and really nicely laid out. the body design is also exceptional. 4 wheel disc brakes, power steering, a very well engineered dual cam 16 valve engine. for 900$? to me, it’s about value. i like my boxy body lines and squared off headlights.
i mean, the gts is a great car. the close ratio 6 speed trans picks up really nicely. it’s an incredibly comfortable and smooth ride.
but it’s like apples and oranges, imo. while oranges may cost more, some prefer the taste of an apple

yea, i see mostly dudes driving the newer celicas, i dont think its a chick car but chick cars ARE out there. and by chick cars, i mean ones that chicks sort of get attracted to, or the “cute” cars.
I was upset when toyota discontinued(?) the celica line because thats what i wanted… i was just waiting for a model that i liked enough to buy it new, now there wont be any new ones.
only model i dont care for is the roundy looking one. happens to be the one i bought and decided i didnt like… total chick car
there are a lot of nice kits out there for the celica, even the 5th gen celica i have.

Thanks for all the comments lol. Well i like the celica for its looks and a newer car not having to replace so many older parts, out the box its faster to. I valet cars for my job and i driven every car i could think of i wanted, from a lotus elise to any regular car out there. I have driven a gt celica auto and stick and they dont feel peppy really… never the GTS. My teg feels more peppy full bolt ons b20 p8r. I would wanna spend around 5-6 grand cash and the celica was in that price range. I dont really think i like any other car in that price range. Iam in no hurry to get it just wanted to see what people thought. Also i would need around 3 grand for the celica after i sold my car and 1 grand for a 5 speed swap.
