Close your eyes and imagine your car a little lower.
Close your eyes and imagine your car a little higher.
Close your eyes and imagine your car a little lower in the front.
Close your eyes and imagine your car a little lower in the back.
Close your eyes and imagine your car a little lower on one side.
Close your eyes and imagine your car a stock height minus 2".

What you’ll find with Tokico HP’s (blues) is that they’re, for lack of a better term, junk. They aren’t “High Performance” like the name insists. They’re barely better than stock, and are certainly no good for a drop of more than 1.5 inches (ie. they will blow out). I would strongly suggest getting a set of Koni Sport struts (the yellow ones). They’ll be quite a bit more expensive, but they’re worth every penny. As far as springs go, personal preference plays a bit more of a roll. H&R Race springs are pretty decent springs, as are Eibach Sportlines. You’ll find that if you go with Ground Control coilovers you’ll have more choice as to what spring rates you wish to use. I would recommend going this route, as you can set the ride height to pretty much whatever you desire. The best combination you’ll find for the money is going to be GC coilovers with the Koni struts. Try a search on this setup…you’ll find a few threads on them.
Bender-San for being as educated as you are, I think it’s a little ignorant of you to state that the Blues are “Junk”. I currently have that junk on my car with a set of neuspeed sports, not race. I wasn’t looking for a “high performance” ride because i drive an integra, and in fact the combo i have now is slightly less comfortable than stock but not as bad as many others on the board. Also, I lost some body roll. I will try to post pics of the 1.8 drop on the blues today if i can.
blue’s are junk.
if all you know is what you have then think what you want.
thnx guys for the info please keep it comming…bump
I have Koni Yellows with Eibach Sportlines and it rides great. You also have a small amount of adjustment height wise with these guys as you have a few selections for perch position on the shock. The shocks are adjustable too, so you can dial in the bias you are looking for.
im really looking towards the tokico blue struts and either HR springs or neuspeed so please post pics and/or info on your experience thnx oh and…:fucksuvs: haha srry i just wanted to use the face haha
Yeah, I’ll agree blues are junk. I’m riding on Tokico HPs + Eibach Sportlines. Waaaay better than the 192k mile stock shocks + TEIN S Tech spring “suspension setup” that the idiot who owned the car before me decided to use.
If I could do it again I’d get Koni Yellows but unfortunately I didn’t have the money and still don’t.
I only post what I’ve seen/experienced. In this instance, blues (and KYB AGX’s for that matter) are junk.
I’ve done OEM, Blue, Illumina, AGX, GR-2, Koni Yellow, and now custom Koni’s. The Koni’s have been terrific when teamed with the right spring rates.
If you are still looking for something new in a couple months, I will have some neuspeed race springs for sale.
I’ve been there too. As far as regular coil springs go, I liked the Neuspeed Race the most. They worked very well with my reguar Koni Sports.
Sportline:up:
Oddly enough I’ve had Koni, Eibach, Dropzone, Tokico, and I still don’t think the rides that bad. Like i said, If your not racing your car or beating on it terribly, you relly dont need 500 dollar shocks. The blues suit my Neuspeed sports fine and actually offer a comfortable ride, however we all may be comparing apples and oranges.
I’ll have to vouch for Tokico HP (blue) shocks as well. Tokico blue’s came stock in my Tacoma S-Runner and I also use them in my AE86 Corolla. I’ve installed them in customer’s cars and always gotten good feedback. If you just need a cheap street shock and don’t drop your car an excessive amount, HP’s are IMO the best buy for the money. I also like the fact that they’re tech line is in california and they’ve always been very helpful.
I think when people dog them it’s cause they’re expecting a race shock and it’s not fair to compare them to Bilstein or Koni.
What Tokico HP’s are is a performance oriented, high quality, OEM replacement shock, meant to be used with stock or mild lowering springs like the Eibach Pro-Kit. We’re talking a 1" to 1.5" drop. The tokico HP kit has a drop of around 1". Eibach Sportlines, Neuspeed, and H&R Race are probably too low. When you pair these shocks w/ too low springs, they ride on the bottom end of their travel, and may bottom out - in either case, they wear out really fast.
Oh and PLEASE use the bump stops. If your’s are all worn out, replace them w/ new OEM ones, if you do not use the bumpstops, any shock will bottom out and blow out within months if not sooner.
bump thnx for the feedback please info on tokicos blues and neuspeed springsand/or H&R

If you go with the HP struts, don’t use the H&R Race or Neuspeed Race springs. You’ll find yourself buying new struts in a few months if you do.
