thanks blkack1
BLKACK1: how did you remove and press in the control arm bushings? And, has your upper control arm screws stripped as everyone else’s did oh and what bushing is used with it?
Remove with a hydraulic press, if you use ES bushings you can press them in by hand. If OEM or similar style you’ll have to use the press to get the new ones in too.
As far as removing and installing, I just used a harbor freight 12 ton press I borrowed from MRpenny.
No I didnt have any problems with the UCA bolts stripping and it was just the UCA bushing that came in my ES master kit.
here are some pics of mine, almost done! working on the front now. Wicked tuning camber, Energy traling arm bushing, blox toe arms, cross drilled rotors, extended studs, forged aluminum lugs, stainless hardware, goodridge stainless brake lines
ASR 24mm, custom mounts and tie bar, K-sport coilovers, skunk2 LCA, Blox adjustable sway bar links,
that thing is gonna get snagged on something and rip that nice suspension smooth off the car. that thing hangs WAAAAAAAAY too low, imo.
thats nice, but it does hang a little low, and as for ripping off, unless he is off roading that thing and gets caught on a tree stub, i doubt its going any where. Alot of rubbing on shit though!
For the custom tiebar… why didn’t you make the bar go straight across instead of hanging low like that? Looks liek you’ll definitely be fucking shit up while driving unless your car is not that low. Nice custom setup nonetheless!
^^
An arch give me support than a bar that just goes straight across? THat’s my guess…

He could’ve at least arched it upward, not to the point where it touches the sway bar though. shrugs

Sorry David, a straight bar in compression will provide much greater stiffness then a pre bent bar. A bar with bends in it already will continue to bend and flex at the weakest point along its length when compressed.
Take a straight straw and it will go through an apple, bend the straw and it’s not going to happen.
Like I mentioned to him in his build post unless he is using that bar for a rear diffuser mount it is an idiotic design.

True when you put it that way… haha
I guess it depends on the purpose of the bar. If it’s for lateral compression, then yes a straight bar will give better support, but if it’s for umm… up and down compression (sorry had a brain fart) then an arch will give better support… right? Kinda like the arches on a bridge?
