Z10 traction bar

since there was no info. or hardly any info on these bars I decided to post something for you guys to make your own decision in what traction bar will work for you. I finally was able to get a good traction bar, other than having the Placeracing one(CRAP) and innovative mounts(CRAP) one for awhile. I decided to get a Z10. the twin bar set is strong and to be surprised, it is lighter than my placeracing bar.

Notice that I got the aluminum arms, I don’t think it was a upgrade because I wasnt asked if I wanted them so I’m going to assume that they were included with everything else. the radius rods are an inch thick and super light weight.

Finally a comparison to my Placeracing set that I still had even though it broke on me more than one occasion.
pics are below

compromised LCA mount? take in to consideration that the bar sits up higher than full-race or any other bar out there. we’ll just have to see.
edit 2011…5 years strong and shows no signs of letting go* 1.7 60’s…

this bar sits about where stock is. you can see about an inch of the bar hanging down.

Pro’s
-front end is tighter
-no binding or popping when turning
-noticeable difference in suspension
-no scarping speed bumps
-stronger, and lighter than innovative mounts and placeracing crossmbers
-adjustable radius arms
-retain front mount
-sits just like stock
-utilizes 10 mounting points

con’s

  • not even close to being a easy drop in. took me 7 hours by myself
  • engine mount bracket is extremely hard to get over ES engine mount inserts
  • lining up everything is a bitch
  • had to email Xenocron for help by the way thanks chris
  • instructions that come with this are a bitch
  • you have to remove just about everything in the front to put this bar on I.e. full suspension and axles.

wow, man that thing looks sick!!! where did you order it from and for how much?

i ordered it straight from Z10, it’s advertised as $450 but I got mine much lower than that. I just wanted to show something showing that Z10 is just as strong bar as Full-race. I don’t base my opinions on a traction bar based on 1 persons experience, that’s why I decided to give this bar a try and now I actually like it.

hmm, i might have to really consider this bar over the full race for gournd clearance mostly! Looks like a nice piece. Do the axles come close to touching that bracket that the radius arm bolts on to?

it is about 1 1/2" or more away from the mount

what kind of issues did you have w the motor mount inserts, and how did you correct them.

because the motor mount inserts are a little wider than the mount itself, I had to push it on, but it took forever. I pushed like I was trying to bench press the car. but if I had just the stock mount then it would have went on without a hitch.

nice write up. the radius rods and the way it mounts to the lower control arm is very similar to full race design. took me 40 minz to install my FR tho

I’ve never really seen the full-race Lower control arm mount, if you would mind posting pics of it.

I remember it took me 7 hours because I had the wrong instructions. I talked to the Z10 guy today. I think if I had the right instructions it probably would have taken me a couple hours with the removal of suspension parts and axles. it’s really not that bad if you have good instructions to follow.

the removal of those components is pertant to torquring the bolts to the LCA.

Didnt the guy who made the z10 traction bar, leave z10, start Full-Race and improve on according to him, his “faulty” design??? Does anybody have any feedback on jimfab traction bars??

Hey can anyone email me(breesgsr@aol.com) some info on where to get them tractions bars?

I didnt have time to read the whole thread but I will mention, if your worried about the clearence issue with the full race bar maybe invest in some new suspension. There is no reason why your car should be slammed to where your bottoming out the full-race bar.

I remember reading up on the z10 bar and the full-race bar at the time of purchasing the full-race one but I cant remember what the difference was. The z10 bar appears to be different then what the original design was.

I still favor the full-race bar until z10 lets me try out one of there bars. Hell I can never get ahold of z10 when I call them to begin with.

would anyone mind posting pics of Fullrace’s Lower control arm mount. I’ve never seen one and would like to see a comparison on the 2 of them.

Full Race also had two different style mounts. I have the original style and then they later switched over to a newer design

anyone wanna post GOOD pics up of the LCA mount for the Full-race. I’m curious to see how they mounted theres.

Anyone else have any experience or input on either the Z10 or the Fullrace bars? I’m in the market for a traction bar, and am currently leaning towards the Z10 bars because this review. The DA bar costs $450 shipped from Z10 and the FullRace one costs $425 shipped from one of the supporting vendors.

I have been using the Z10 on my car for almost 2 years now, I love it…no issues what so ever and the install was pain free really (besides the private seller missing hardware). The clearance is amazing and I love retaining the factory full length radiator in my Boosted LS.

I have secured a deal where I can now offer them to G2IC members at $425 shipped, see link:

Cool. That seals the deal for me. I’ll post my impressions of this bar when I get it installed.
