hello! I need some input on how to reach my 300hp goal. planning to boost it. so far what has been done to the motor. b18a1, cp pistons 9.0:1, manley rods, acl race bearings and thrust, factory crank micropolished and balanced, arp head, main and rod studs, moroso oil pan, gates racing timing belt, cometic head gasket, msd plug wires, honda oem water pump, oil pump. These all are brand new. Now my question is which or what turbo to run? this will be a DD. Do i need to do headwork? motor is obd0. i probably have more questions but i wanna take it a step at a time starting with the turbo. :werd:
i made 300whp 292ft-lbs/tq with a GT2871R on a stock b18a1. a gt2860 or 2871 would be perfect if your looking for a dual ball bearing turbo.
what did you tune with? and what obd were you? injector size? manifold?
i tuned with crome pro. since my cars a 91 i did an obd1 conversion. and at the time i had 550cc injectors. manifold and exhaust and stuff was all custom made.
Would a t3/t4 net me around that hp mark without worrying about engine failure?
With the work you already have done on your motor, you should be more than fine.
Get it converted to OBD1, and get a good tune and you’ll be set.
Coz
depends which one you get but yes its capable of 300hp.
ok so i ordered a obd1 distributor for the obd0 motor… what else did i need to convert it to obd1 jumper harness, ecu, distributor harness, and 4 O2 sendsors wires… im sure there is a kit out there… but ecu do i run just the obd1 ecu’s from the integras?
depends what you’ll be tuning with. if you plan on getting it chipped and using crome. ectune etc. then yes the stock obd1 ecu will be fine.
would i need a block guard for this build? keep in mind im only trying to reach 275 - 300 hp
with a good tune, no. one wouldnt hurt it the block is at a point where it could be installed with ease, but not worth pulling a running motor apart for thought

when you say stock b18a do you mean stock with upgraded hardware only?
i mean stock with arp headstuds only.
whaaaaaat??? im probably reading this wrong…haha damn so the stock ls motor is pretty tough if you build it right? i changed my mind about ls/v…too much $$ so thinkin of building the one i have now. after hearing that…thats amazing i’d be able to kick my friends wrx’s @$$ ehehehehhhh hopefully…
im looking for a radiator now since mine is about to go… im thinking of running a half radiator from a civic… pros and cons? i want to clear up some space up front so it wont be too crowded for the turbo…
i would do the rod bolts too and shot peen the rods balance rot assembly, just for peace of mind too.
thats all 100% useless for a turbo setup. the rod bolts fail due to revving higher then 7000rpm. if you keep the stock redline any b series is good for 300hp and even more depending on engine condition.
tankluda, ls/v isnt much more expensive. thats what im running now and the only extra cost is the head and a oil line which isn’t that much. however that is if you plan on rebuilding your engine since the rest comes with that.
Extra cost on ls/v comes with building the bottom end to handle the rpm’s I just picked up a b18c1 while looking for a head for my ls/v swap got the whole motor for the price of a head in my area.
anybody know if the civic half rad would fit in the integra chassis? and if it will cool the motor enough as a full rad would? want to clear up some space up front for the turbo
I used a half rad. Do it right and cut off and reweld the stock rad mounts.
