That superlumination has the worse service you can ever imagine. They cancelled my order after delaying 2 emails plus they wanted $25 for the shipping of 7 bulbs. Isn’t it a bit ridiculous?
That’s weird. What did you order?
The highest shipping goes is $15 unless you wanted the special shipping service. http://superlumination.com/shipping.htm
I think I only paid $5 bucks for shipping. They all came bagged up, and packed in a little box. I recieved them in about 5 days.
I ordered the (3) White #24 Super Star, (2) White #194 Super Star, and (6) #74 blue LEDs.
The white ones shining threw the cluster makes like a light blue color.
The 2 above the cluster are the blue #74
I had the #74’s in my climate controls, but the came out too focused, and didn’t shine evenly.
I did however keep them in my cigarette lighter ring, and ash tray though.
This is the 3rd time that I’ve redone my cluster lights. It’s hard to find the right ones.
So word of advice, dont or the cheap stuff. They dont shine as bright as the pricier ones.
Yeah, it took me 4 tries til I got all the proper ones. Gotta get those super-wide 194s, 'cause no other makes an even pattern like them.
There are really small bulbs in the hazards, fog light switch, cc switch etc. Anyone know what size they are?
I’d like to know what the small ones are as well. I have only a few working now. I’d like to know more for my wife’s convience than mine(I know all of the buttons :ohyeah: )
Just changing the color of the bulbs is ghetto
SO how did you do your’s?
…
I put two amber bulbs in the climate controls (I have a RS) and it was so NOT worth all the trouble of taking that stupid thing apart…they were hardly visible and compared to the stock white of my gauges it was night and day. I am going to get some stock white ones and put them in, fuck this shit.
gauge cluster
the easiest way to get slack on the cable to remove the cluster is to disconnect cable from vss… try it makes it much easier
Ok I am a big fan of those really bright kinda light blue LED’s.
I would like to do the gauge dials in this color.
Can anyone recomend a good Brand that is nice and bright blue, with good light dispersion? I see lots of stuff on Ebay, however its hard to sort the crap from the good stuff.
Does anyone have any pics of a good Bright Blue?
Are there any tips on evenly dispersing the light?
Thanx
How do you make only the km/h numbers light up like this…?
where can we buy those #24 and #194 bulbs? kragen or something? because i went to acura to buy me some but found out they are very expensive so i decided not to buy them. when i bought my car they were lit up blue and i dont like it. plus one side is only working and thats the rpm gauge.
anybody?
I am in the middle of doing this mod but the 74s dont fit on my cluster…everyone here todl me 37s so i painted those and hope this works
ur car idles high lol
Im gonna work on a solution to the needles. My objective is to illuminate the needles as much as possible without taking contrast away from the gaugefaces (the stock setup is awful with contrast).
Given the stock stock faces are black (dark) and the needles are white. The stock setup uses 2x74’s (clear) to illuminate the needles. I believe the solution is to create a blacklight type of environment inside the cluster. Blacklights should illuminate the white needles very well and not disturb the black gaugeface. i doubt ill be able to find blacklight 74 bulbs so im gonna attempt to ghettorig my own. Ill post pics as soon as i can get it installed.
i know u can get blacklight led’s from superbrightleds.com the dont have any 24s though
I just did this mod.
Was easy as hell. Its amazing how quick our gauge cluster comes out. Took all of 15 minutes.
I will say that I ended up not being able to reinstall the speedo cable to the back of the cluster without pulling the other end out of the trans. And I have pretty small hands.
I think I’m gonna pull it back out and make the needles amber.
GREAT THREAD!
for anyone else who is researching this before doing it: you do not have to replace all the little bulbs with amber ones. Just remember that YOu only need to replace the medium and larger size bulbs.
Okay, so how many bulbs do I need in total to do the gauge cluster, climate control, etc…?
194= ?
24= ?
74= ?
there are a lot of bulbs in there man, but you only replace the ones that shine through, not the ones that light up your warning lights, cause those are shaded red or orange already. When you pull it out you’ll see.
For the gauge cluster, you need, obviously in amber:
3 X 194 bulbs
3 X 24 bulbs
that’s it. You can get them at any parts store.
One thing to be careful of: The dash piece that you have to pull is confusing the first time. REMEMBER: you have to pull off the two knobs for the climate control (temp and fan speed) AND then that plastic piece that has the little hash marks for blower speed on it must come out also. Get a very small pick and pull it out. There is a lip around the outside of this piece, you need to pull it out at the OUTER LIP. Go look at it and what I just said will make sense. GOOD LUCK.
shit man, i bought two packs of 2, so i got 1 of each left. PAYPAL me $5 and I’ll ship em to ya so you know what you need. I’ll never need these f’n things for anything else.
