has anyone had their gauges not light up after installing LEDs?
my climate control LEDs work, the stock bulbs for lights on the dash work (engine light, gas light, emergency brake light)… they all work, but the LEDs i put in to light my gauges aren’t lighting up. I tried reversing some of them to make sure they were put in right… made sure all connections were secure, and seated properly, even double checked the fuse, all seems to be fine. Racking my brain and just dont know whatsup with it.
I do believe they need to be a certain way. Also, if your light adjustment wheel isn’t plugged in, no lights. If the plugs the lights go into aren’t turned all the way, they won’t work.
The adjustment wheel is on the main panel you had to remove, on the left of the steerring wheel. Here:
See if it’s plugged in. Also, if you didn’t plug the wires into the back of the cluster all the way, they may not work. Does your speedo, tach, etc. work?
Keep me posted. I’m sort of a pro. on the light swap, seeing as I’ve done it like 8 times or more.

All the wires are connected properly (including the dimmer switch). The problem is the LEDs that i bought from AutoLumination.com are burning out the circuit, i guess there’s too much current? i dont really know much about this stuff, check out this thread and let me know what you think:
I know its been mentioned before, but make sure that you buy good LEDs, if you buy cheap ones you’ll definitely get hot spots. I ordered mine from AutoLumination.com,
3 blue #74 SMD LEDs for the gauges,
2 blue #74 SMD LEDs for climate controls
2 white #74 SMD LEDs to light the needles from the top, and
2 1-LED #194 bulbs.
The 194s were my big mistake. they were not near as bright as the 74s, and with the 194s, its very important to have the light SPREAD. These bulbs light up the smaller gauges (temp & gas gauge) from a distance. You’re best off getting the 5-LED 194 bulbs, that have 4 LEDs facing outwards, and 1 forward.
Went with my wife to the dentist and saw a autozone across from it. while she was getting teeth cleaned i went in for a look. saw they had blazer brand amber bulbs and thought maybe i could do the amber cluster swap. i bought them for about 15 bucks 2 packs of 194s and 2 packs of 24s.
Sorry for bad pictures.
Used 3 24 bulbs and 2 194 bulbs. i lefted the needle bulbs alone.
looks good but i was wondering has any1 done this for the rest of the dash … all the buttons(fogs, rear defrost, climat control, ac button.) who knows what bulbs are in there.
I colored my dash switches by taking them apart and coloring the lens over the bulb. I removed a couple of the tint lenses to make the switches brighter. The markings show up red but everything else looks the same. Its cheaper than changing the bulb. I just used a red sharpie.
Finally got around to doin my cluster. I decided not to do amber as my radio is Blue, So naturally I had to color coordinate. Anyways I ordered 3 #194 blue Led and 6 #74 blue Led bulbs from Superbrightleds.com On to the pics
