Great thread… just out of curiosity, why did you elect to loop the P/S lines, instead of just getting a manual steering rack?
Well, I think I would have rather gone with a manual rack…but after searching for one used from a junk yard for a few months…nothing seemed to present itself. That and also the threads I read on the nightmare of removing the tie rod ends. I found a few good threads on how to loop the lines and remove a few pieces from the inside of the rack and figured I’d give it a try. It was still quite a bit of work removing all the hard lines, plastic clips, then sanding down all the flaky paint and rusted areas. It honestly feels just like a power steering rack right now. If it feels weird, I’ll just source a new manual rack and call it a day. Good question though, I’m glad you like the thread.
Well, I went to put my Walbro 450 in and of course, it wouldn’t fit on the stock hanger with the OE black rubber piece on the bottom. I went ahead and ordered the silly install kit. Seemed like a waste of $22 for a few connectors and a black rubber piece and some tie wraps, but I figure with the cost of the parts i’m buying now, $22 is a joke. I noticed BWR had a clearance sale on a Black 1/2 sized radiator dual core. It was $199 but $77 off! The one they had on sale was for a Civic 92-00 but I’ll need to mod the mounting brackets for it anyway. The specs are the same except the hose bibs are just a bit more narrow. I read online that if you just pick up a civic radiator hose made for a b16 swap, the hoses will fit perfect. If you want to run your OEM Integra ones, you’ll need to cut a few inches of a civic hose, lube it up, and sleeve it inside as the teg’s hose diameter is a bit bigger. I also threw on a 14" BWR Slim Fan and the mounting kit for $12. Tomorrow I plan on ordering the ETD Traction Bar. TunerSports will give me my military discount…I emailed them to get a price on it.
Next weekend, I plan on getting the Endyne Timing Belt Tensioner and the Flui-Dampr. Then I’ll probably slow down a bit until after the holidays. Besides, all that stuff will give me plenty to do as the weather cools down.
Much more to come as the turbo kit starts to come together. Thanks for reading.
I do like the thread, yes. The q. was mostly for my own education I guess I assumed it would be an easier swap with everything out of the car. I will have to replace some rusty hard lines on mine (road salt, steel hard lines, and hot PS fluid are a perfect storm), not to mention the pump soon. I was starting to wonder if the manual rack might be the easier option than replacing most of whats there (chuckle).
Btw, the hardware to reattach the cowl (I think you mentioned that above), is still available, and presumably the black circles that cover the fasteners should fit better if bought new. On the other hand, the seal on the edge of the cowl that makes it flush with the windshield is hard to match, if you want a perfectly smooth transition from the cowl to the glass.

I managed to pick up the small little circle thingys from the dealer…of course they were over-priced but like my friend always says…‘you could always try making them yourself…or just pay the price.’
on another note…this has been a busy weekend. My buddy Ruben FINALLY finished his build that inspired my build. It’s an EG hatch with a monster LS/V. 3 years in the making. We hit the Dyno yesterday morning…we had to trailer it down to Ft Lauderdale but the tuner was worth it. He made 621/432 on 26 lbs, e85. I’m in the hotel and don’t have my cord to upload the pics here…I’ll do it next time for sure though. Then I got home and the wife and I ran up to Orlando for V2 Lab. Should be a blast. We have nearly a dozen people in our circle here. The weather is perfect. I wish all weekends were this way.
Well, I got home from V2 Lab tonight and decided to drill a hole in the top of my fuel hanger so I can start hosing in the -8AN Fuel Line…wouldn’t you know it…I drilled the dang hole too big because I had the wrong bulkhead sent to me…Now it’s a set back while I try to find another fuel hanger. Anyone have one they could sell me?
Hey guys, It’s been awhile since I’ve updated on here. I’ve done quite a bit since the last post. I have my Fuel System finally all squared away. I got all my interior pieces back in place. I finished up the majority of the wiring and centrally located under dash fuse panel I made. I ended up finding a pretty sweet deal on an Innovative Traction Bar. I’ll post up some more pics from when I left off.
Ok, fuel system. I won’t lie, This part was a real PITA. I had to take out the entire fuel tank and modify the hanger. I might have mentioned it before, but I ended up screwing up my original hanger by drilling out the top piece too big. Turns out, the guy at the parts place gave me a -12 AN fitting instead of the -10 I asked for…me not having one to compare it to…I just drilled away, anyway, long story longer…I found another at the scrap yard.
I had to drill out the banjo bolt quite a bit to make my return flow better, here you can see the difference between the stock one and the modified one.
Here’s my spaghetti mess again, It’s all cleaned up nice now though.
I picked up a relay. It’s a good idea to wire the fuel pump onto it’s own relay. I bought some good 10 guage primary wire and ran the wires all the way up to the alternator. I put a small kill switch in place. This serves 2 purposes, first, I can kill the switch after a run if there’s some kind of problem, fire, etc…and it also acts as a theft deterrent. Kinda hard to steal a car if you can’t figure out why it wont start.
Here’s a couple pics of my junction under the dash in progress, It serves it’s purpose. I have lots of fused outputs for everything from lighting to gauges to panels of switches.
It cleaned up pretty nice.
In the meantime, I picked up a Traction Bar. It’s used, but i’ll clean it up.
I also picked up a few things from the dealer for my tranny.
I grabbed up some resistor #8’s because I’ll be running with the Coil On Pack system…
…which means I needed 4 Coil Packs and 4 new tighter seals. I believe these Coils come stock on an Acura TL, and the seals come stock on an EP3. It’s wierd, I read in a forum that you need to turn the seals inside out and upside down, then put them on the modified coils, this will give them a nice firm , tight fit. They were right.
Once I got all that installed and since I was out of cash anyway…I figured I’d go ahead and get the cold side of my turbo painted in that sweet Wrinkle Red I love so much. It came out soooo cool. This Precision 6262 is gonna make some really great power. I had Mike Turbo go through the whole thing and replace all the seals just in case, although he said it’s in 9/10 condition.
The texture is just really nice, that’s my favorite part.
Here’s how it looks side by side. I’m stoked about the outcome.
Just in case anyone out there has an extra $120 to spend, you could get 4 sets of lug nuts like I did. SMH. I had serious buyers remorse after springing for these…but I have to admit, these are by far the best quality lug nuts i’ve ever seen for tuner type rims and ARP extended lugs.
Another picture of my fat shop cat Ramsey…this thing just doesn’t care who sees what.
I pulled my carpet out and cleaned it up real nice…it’s in surprisingly good shape for being as old as it is.
I also went ahead and got the motor all dialed in perfect. I can’t wait to see the power this thing is gonna make.
Here’s a quick pic with the carpet back in…i’m happy with it so far. It’s getting there
I also grabbed up a good deal on a Blackworks 1/2 sized radiator and cooling fan. This black color is dis-continued so I waited a long time for it to finally arrive. It looks sweet in the bay though.
I also ordered this Endyne Timing Belt Tensioner Pulley. The quality on this thing is really unbelievable, it fits perfect right where my old power steering bracket used to go. I had to lose the top part of my timing cover, but that’s ok I suppose.
I also ended up grabbing this from a friend who had it powder coated, didn’t like the color, never even installed it on his car, and sold it to me for $100 cheaper than he paid. His mistake, my fortune. I think I’ll paint it the same wrinkle red. It’s a Tial 50mm Blow Off Valve. It has an 8lb spring for now…we’ll see what kind of vacuum i’m getting during the tune to see if we need to change that.
That’s about it for now. I have a Hondata CPR on the way and It should be here by Tuesday. I’ll post some pics of that when it gets here. I have some major purchases coming in the next few weeks. I’m trying to get this thing all done by April. I plan on dropping close to $7k into it in the next couple months. Mainly on turbo parts, axles, injectors, and a twin disk from Clutch Masters. I’ll keep updating.
Looking good! You’ve been putting in work!
love the detailed pics and clean build
The gold on that bov is sick
Thanks, it’s a lot of work but I don’t need to tell you that, It was your thread that helped inspire my whole build! My passion loves ya for it, my wallet hates ya. lol
Thanks for those kind words, it means alot coming from a fellow 2nd genner. I’m getting close to the end now so it’s exciting seeing it all come together.
I think I may paint it to match my scheme, but I better do it fast, else everything else will end up that gold color, it’s growing on me.
So , I’ll be pulling the trigger on the Hush Performance Cable to Hydro kit next week, Stay tuned.
Well I’m honored that my build inspired yours! Now if I actually made any progress maybe it could be worthy of emulating… lol
Keep up the good work!
