can I use a walbro GSS-342 fuel pump in my car?

I have a 1990 integra that is going boost soon, and I was sold a GSS-342 that was supposed to be for a 90-93 integra, but I looked and it is for a 1994-2001 integra. LMK if it is useable. thanks!

anyone? thanks

You need a GSS-341 for a 90-93

…lower on the page.

thanks! I guess I’ll send it back and get another pump, maybe one of those generic looking ones from you. the black one on that page. do those come with everything needed to install in a 1990 integra? thanks!

you can use the newer integra pumpsa. that’s what I’m doing. you will notice taht you have to flip teh pump 180* in order for the strainer to sit right. Also, the strainer that comes with the pump will not work with our tanks, you must get a new strainer made for our cars. Unless it’s dirt cheap, I would jsut get one made for your car.

I got just the pump, so I can use it? I just need to get another “strainer”? Where would I go about getting one of those for my car? thanks, and if I get the walbro install kit for a 1990 integra, can I use it to put the pump in? or do i need a different plug, lines, etc.? thanks!

If you get the walbro kit for you car, it comes with everythnig you need.

As for the straiiner if you seu teh newer style pump, you can get a new strainer from any auto parts store.

ok, so its a universal thing from any auto parts store like napa/shucks/etc.? so you know like a parts number or something? like whatever worked for you, or a size or something? I guess I’ll get the install kit, and then buy a strainer at napa. you just need to flip the pump 180* tho? and the pump is the same size as the 90-93 integra? I just want to make sure this will work for me beacause the guy is willing to give me a refund, but I’d rather not lose my $10shipping cost. I can spend that on the install kit

whoa whoa whoa. you said you already got the 94+ Teg pump tho. If you have the 94+ pump. that is the one you need to flip 180*. and then goto yuor autoparts store and ask for a fuel pump strainer for a 90-93 acura integra. This is the little fuel pump “sock”.

Now if you haven’t ordered anything yet, then jsut order the 90-93 integra pump kit and everythnig is plug and play no need to flip anything.

sorry for the confusion, I DO ALREADY HAVE the 94+ pump. I got it really cheap. so all I need is the install kit for a 90-93 integra, and the strainer for it too if its not included in the install kit. then turn the pump 180* so the power ( + & -) are on opposites sides of what they are supposed to be. the gas lines are the same for both generation cars tho? thanks for all ur help!

what else did you get with the 94+ pupm. you really don’t need to spend any moejny on the install kit. it’s worthless IMO and you can save yourself moeny not buying it and using what you already have. Just buy the proper strainer at a local store. The reason yuo ahve to flip the pump is because the bottom of the pump taht sits in the rubber is the wrong way on the newer cars, so that’s why you gotta flip it to make it work. Once you get it all out you’ll udnerstand what I mean

i got the pump all alone, just a 255lph walbro GSS-342 pump. nothing else, it was a really good deal tho (like $45-50 shipped, brand new). the reason I want the install kit is I think the plug is different, and Im not sure about the mounting bracket in the tank. its only like $20 shipped for the kit.

The connectors are all the same. I’ve changed my pump twice already. Once from OE to walbro, then when taht one died, I changed tot he newer 94+ teg pupm reusing all the old OE stuff still. The only new piece I used was jsut a straight section of fuel line hose. from the pump to the bracket.

ok, awesome! that is great information, ill keep the pump then if it’s useable. saves me $10 or so, and a trip to the post office! and I didnt pay much for it. thanks for all your help, and ill contact you if I need anything else ( I know your excited, lol  :hmm: ) thanks!

Lol, I work parts at Honda, I get weird questions everyday

the only difference between the 341 and the 342 is the pressure. The 342 is the high pressure version of the 341. We put the 342 in every car that gets an intank.

but the 342 is for a 1994+ correct? Every site i go to says that, they dont say it is high pressure, but if it is, all the better! thanks for the response!

No Josh, 341 is the High Pressure and 342 is the High Pressure as well. One pump has the inlet and outlet on the same side and the other is on opposite sides so like Tch was saying they are backwards of each other basically.

341 is for 90-93 integras and 88-91 CRX/Civic

342 is for 92-00 Civics and 94-01 Integras, some Preludes/Accords with a different install kit as well.

yeah, Im just going to flip it like he said to. so the GSS342 is the 255lph HP? I thought it was just the 255lph. THanks for all your guys’ help!

bumping up again.

I just picked up the GSS-342 as well. It seems after reading all your responses, that it should be simple.

Tch:

How long did it take you to remove the gas tank and to change everything? I got the pump and the install kit.
