The distributor has more wear parts than the cap and rotor, your problem is probably the ignitor or coil.
Here comes another noobie question…: can you replace just the ignitor or coil, or is it all part of the distributor?
Yes, they are made to be replaced, they are wear items that eventually fail, just like the cap and rotor.
you should check the main relay…same thing caused my car from starting, and the fuel pump also.
i also have a “car wont start” prob too but but i cant find anything that matches.
heres a list
1.car blew headgasket
2.replaced head,headgasket,exhaust and intake gaskets(head was resurfaced,checked for cracks,cleaned and 2 valves replaced)
3.replaced plugs,wires,cap and rotor
4.replaced injector seals(the bottem one and top 2)
5.checked timing(cam gear arrows line up with cam rod holes that when at tdc line up with cam bracket hole)
6.have spark on all four plugs
7.checked if plugs were in right spots(read the manual for that info)
8.checked if i had fuel(i do)
and it just turns over and over and over kinda slower than normal even with a battery charger on jump start mode.
if anyone neds more info just ask u can also email me at lbizkit69us(at)aim(dot)com. thanks --=KRis

Tell us more… Is the car cranking, but just not starting? If so, how long are you letting it crank for before trying again? When you retry, do you move the key to the off position, or just move from start to “ON”? How do you know your fuel pump is on?

car won’t start
I crank the car for enough time sonthe starter doesn’t overheat then shut the car all the way off to have the fuel pump come on hen crank it again eventually around the 5 try I get sputtering for two more times then the car eventually starts I can hear the fuel pump come on I listen to it before the check engine light comes off already checker fuel coming out of the fuel line when about to start any other things you should know to see what might be wrong thank you
ANyone know what this could be…sometimes I turn my key all the way and it feels like it barely catches…and today I turned it, and it went “click”, took it back, clicked again, then finally caught the third time. Is this an ignition switch maybe?
This should help you. I think it’s your switch also, but if you really want to make sure, If you have a multi-meter, you can go to the plug on the passenger side under the hood close to your fender, it’s got 2 big wires to it(black red or black yellow??) there’s only one 2 wire plug there). one wire is going to have 12 volts all the time, and the other only when you turn the key to turn it on.
Searched…but…
I searched and searched…and read everything I could find…but my problem is not as common.
I read all the “Won’t start when it is hot” threads…but mine is just the opposite.
This morning it was 27 in Central Mississippi. Hell, we almost closed down the city. (Last week it was 82
) Anyway, I went out to warm up the car, but it did not start. It will turn over nice and strong with no drag…but it will not actually start. I turned the key completely off, then back on listening for clicks and hums. Everything sounds normal but I get the same result. I tried this several time before deciding to take my wife’s car instead.
Anyone ever have issues when it is below freezing? I plan to have my wife try and start it later in the afternoon when the temp gets back up to the 70s and see what happens.
Thanks in advance for any input you can offer.
Could be your battery. Sometimes the first cold will kill it.
electrical problems?
alright as i was installing my headlights i cut the wires raw, all of a sudden the wires touched each other, after that the headlight went off it was late night so i left it, the next day i checked, the car wouldn’t even start at all, no noise or nothing, EVERYTHING was dead no lights would turn on or anything, i tried boosting my car with cables, and still nothing, what has gone wrong? please help its my first car, thanks
First of NEVER, NEVER work on your car with the battery still connected!
And it sounds like you fried the Battery fuse that is in the Underhood fuse box.
so after i change the fuse, will it owrk properly or did i fry the battery too?
that’s the purpose of the fuse…so you won’t need to replace your battery hopefully…
car wont start and stalls
Ok there are so many car wont start and none are like mine…Somtimes when I turn the key forward I hear the pump prime and it will crank but on my way to work will stall. When I turn the key I will not hear the pump prime, and when that happens I will get no spark either. I just bought a new distrributor w/coil, cap rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter and pump and I have 3 different MFR’s I have tried. The thing that sux the most is that I am good at mechanics and have a 3 tegs. I never had this trouble when the motor was in the other body (did manual rs engine tranny into automatic gs body)…I have already disconected everything to the alarm system that was in the car. I am stumped???
my 91 da wont start possible electrical problem. plz help
The other day my 91 Integra started and just died. I dont hear the fuel pump priming and i dont think im getting spark. The check engine light is on solid and it wont display codes, i tried my ecu in my friends car and it worked fine. I replaced the main relay and it still doesnt start. all fuses are not blown. A few days ago the red with black striped wire from my stereo was exposed and shorted. i replaced all the fuses and everything worked fine after that. could this have something to do with my problem? If you guys could hep me out that would be great! thanks
Hey guys!! I have the same problem that many have. My 92 Integra LS won’t start for shi+. Everything is good from the starter to the battery but I’m not getting power to the starter from the ignition. The lights work but no click or anything from the starter. A guy that helped me when I broke down took the positive cable from the jumper cables and touched the hot wire on the starter and it fired right up so I know the starter is good. The battery terminals are good and so is the battery. I replaced the ignition switch… didn’t help any. I’m going to replace the Main Assembly Relay next but I can’t find the part anywhere. Can you guys enlighten me where some of you may have bought the part? Thanks!
