Carbon Fiber Hiro Rep Spoilers made by JDP - Group Buy

i don’t think no one received the 2nd gen wings yet…

why is there a difference in the first place??? did they not use a pancake wing for the mold??

yes they used a pancake replica to mold.
which was destroyed in the process
but i think i remember reading that JDP wanted to make a few adjustments to not let them sag like the pancake wings do.

I’m most likely getting mine tonight so we will see if its that much different…

Indeed it is hard to tell, I probably shouldn’t have mentioned it lol.

But in the third picture jdecks posted, it kinda-semi-maybe looks better than the first batch. Could just be more of a hope on my part though.

I thinks it depends on the angle the pic was taken at…

I’ve been told by someone who has a JDP wing and he said the ebay pics look messed up for some reason, he had his made after the first batch Slasher got and his looks legit.

I don’t know EXACTLY when he got it but it was after the first batch and I’m guessing/hoping they will be like this.

Just got mine (first gen)… also looks legit… no difference that I can see. also I’ve included pics of the mounting hardware… aka stainless “C” clamps

Someone asked about the weave …

Looking good fr1s!

after debating for so long… finally got a local one

fr1s: do you mind posting a picture of how the metal bracket attaches to the wing? It’s pretty clear how it clamps to the deck of the hatch but I still haven’t seen how they attach to the wing itself. Although I guess the 1st batch may not be similar to the second. I should know by the end of the weekend assuming John and I can arrange a time to meet.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there was no “other batch” made by JDP until this group buy.

When Slasher had his made up, they charged him for the cost of making the mold… AND the parts.

They were working under a contract. The mold was owned by Slasher after the building process.

I know this because I tried to contact JDP and buy one direct from them, as Slasher was super flakey on here and wasn’t staying in contact with people. They explained that they could NOT sell me one and that the transaction had to be handled with the purchaser… who was Slasher.

This current group IS the second batch, as far as I know.

So from my understanding, anyone who currently has a JPD Hiro replica, has one from the first (and only)batch made.

The brackets don’t look like they actually ATTACH to the wing… They merely sit on top of the lip/flange that’s made on the bottom of the feet. Then the screws/hardware just hold tension and pull the wing to the hatch.

@unified112 yes that’s correct

@Colin the small clamp is riveted to the wing… big one is lose… by that I mean, that if u loosen the screws it will completely detach it self. the wing it self has a tab that’s being clamped down to the hatch by the clamps…

I think riveting was how the original Hiro was done but I need to confirm with Carlos. The mugen wings use the same style of clamp but there’s a secondary “wing” bracket secured to the wing itself so the “clamp” bracket clamps the wing bracket to the deck of the hatch. Same concepts but slightly different execution. I need to look at the pics you sent and discuss with some other people but I like the simplicity of simply using one bracket and riveting it to the wing.

check again

Thank you sir, that’s quite helpful.

Oh yeah, I remember you mentioning the similarities of the Mugen setup. We had a Mugen CRX wing in our shop and it indeed had a secondary bracket screwed to the wing.

Hmmmmm…

my problem with riveting the brackets… is that your hatch will get scratched by the rivets and it will sit uneven if u rivet just the front clamp… also sits higher slightly bit… but that’s perhaps me being picky…
