I emailed John from JDP. I guess there was some confusion because of the clamp hardware fitment issue. He is resuming production of the wings this week.
That’s really odd. I told him about the issue and basically blew me off and said there was nothing he could do to change it now. He never gave me any impression that he was going to stop production. If he’s going to fix the problem that would be awesome. I compared the JDP wing to a Hiro and a Pancake and fitment was best on the Hiro, second best on the Pancake and last place goes to the JDP
Yeah I’m not sure why he would do that. Colin - Does the fitment in my pics look different compared to your wing?
I can’t tell from the pics, but he said they’d all be the same, that it had to do with the mold. It’s not something that’s seen when mounted, it has to do with the width of the base of the spoiler. It should be the same width as the hatch, but it’s significantly narrower than the width of the hatch. This doesn’t matter if you’re going to bolt it on like you did, but if you want to clamp it on like the original Hiro then clamps that are the size of the original Hiro hardware will not work very well or potentially at all. Wingbox managed to use my prototype hardware with his authentic Hiro and it worked fine but when we tried on the JDP wing it would slip off. Sorta hard to explain but I tried in my previous post where you can see the strange angle the brackets have once you tighten the screws.
I’ve since completely re-designed the bracket so that the part which rests inside the spoiler has a larger footprint and will hopefully not be able to slip off even if the bracket does angle. The angle may be something that’s simply unavoidable But as long as it’s secure and it doesn’t have clearance issues it will be acceptable. I mocked this new design up with some templates but need to make an actual prototype and test it before it goes into production (and post pics and prices obviously). I have been wanting to work on this one night after work for the past week but my schedule has been out of control - ended up working all weekend unexpectedly as well
Nice we are running on a unlimited time frame, so some time next september when the weather is right to make these wings again then.?
Well said…I was about to dispute the dam thing and get my money back.
I also have been waiting patiently. But sh*t happens, especially with made to order stuff. You can argue/moan/bitch that you have “expectations” of a time period of receiving your wing in a timely fashion, that you paid for a deposit already…blah blah blah, etc- that’s perfectly fine. BUT remember, there are plenty of other members who would gladly pay up and take your slots to get ahold of the wing. SO BE GRATEFUL THAT YOURE IN THIS POSITION IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
Just an FYI, People still email me weekly to ask about these wings

Exactly.
Hell yeah, if anyone wants to give up on the wait game, I am here to take your place lol.
I never give up. I’m thankfull for this opportunity everyday. Just really excited and can’t wait for this wing. All the pics look so awesome. And Colin and jdecks have worked really hard to make everyone happy. I’m waiting for that email and to hit that PayPal button
looks really good Mike. i cant wait for mine! ill obviously wait for mine, but its holding me back on having my body work and paint done on my car, cus we want the wing to be here when we do the work.
Well got my wing. Kind of sad about the quality of jdp products now of days. Passenger side of the wing on out side edge. How do you not take the time to completely finish the edge
Also there is a nic on the leading edge of the wing , not from shipping as the wing was packaged very well…cant upload that pic as g2ic says im over my kb upload limit lol
well… i didnt really want to complain too much about the quality of the wing considering what i paid for it but mine is jacked up all over the place. bubbles in the clear coat, the cf weave is loose i guess i could say all over it… theres a lot wrong with it. no one but me has noticed yet though…
So, Colin, Troy and Mike all have noticed issues or inconsistencies… That’s not a high percentage of satisfaction…
My wing has some minor issues, a tiny piece of the leading edge got dinged during shipping and there was a pinhole sized air bubble on the top. For my standards of understanding how difficult it is to make these and having the realistic expectation of “perfect” with carbon and fiberglass, neither are noticeable to anyone else or bother me.
Personally, I want everyone to be happy with their purchases, if people are truly unsatisfied I would like to know. Although minor (IMO extremely minor) issues have been identified, my overall impression is that so far everyone is satisfied. Db2red - I’m not sure what I’m looking at in the pic.
I think that for the price we’re paying we can’t expect 100% perfection. It would have been nice not to have these minor blemishes as most of us have seen, but you get what you pay for. $300 is cheap for something like this - compare it to a top quality Japanese manufacturer like Spoon, Mugen, J’s Racing, Amuse…etc If this wing was made by them we’d be paying $1000+. Yeah, some of that is just for the name but some of it is also the fact that they’d relegate the flaws like we’ve seen to the “factory second” bin.
