Haha, Vince looks like he’s having some fun!
Haha thanks, he sure is! I wanted to thank you guys very much for the phone advice! I am sure I got annoying but damn you guys really helped me out!
I have put in a lot of work the last few days, though with wiring and what not it looks like I haven’t done shit lol.
I got all the gauge wires in, and created a sub harness in the engine bay for the sensors to plug into. Engine bay wires are loomed and ready to go, and the wiper motor wire delete is finally done (stupid I spent so much time on this). Alarm is finally wired in completely, and works. I had issues with the locks, until I found the door lock controller. That helped a bunch!
Steering column and u joint is connected, though it was easy. I suppose I did this wrong, everyone said I have to drop the rack a little and get another person. I just connected the joint to the rack, then finagled the column in. Everything is keyed, but it was so easy perhaps I did something wrong?
I also hooked up the fuse box and battery along with the interior harness. We now have power! Powered the car up, everything seems to be working with exception to the sidemarkers, they are funky in operation. All I did was play with the windows, lights, alarm so there is more to do tomorrow before I button everything up.
So the issues I need to work out are mainly with the sidemarkers. One side doesn’t power up at all, the other is finicky. Turns on when I hit the parking lights, and blinks with the turn signals. When I turn of the lights and ignition, the sidemarker stays on. However, once I connected the tailllights the sidemarkers will not work at all. Hrmmmmm.
And lastly, I got my S300 installed by Curtis! Thanks a bunch man!
The inside. Believe it or not, there is a method to the madness and I just connected crap so I could power her up.
The wiper motor, stock VS modded.
Lights!!!
Forgot about these, my red leds.
The subharness for the gauges and the loomed harnesses
And Curtis’ fine work.
Kick ass!
Got it sorted out, thanks Curtis.
Hondata FTW!!!
You gonna have that thing rolling in no time flat!
Hell yes! It is getting close now. Especially since ALL wiring outside of the cab is done, if you don’t count the engine harness. Just a bit of looming is needed, would be complete but I ran out of tape. xD
All issues have been worked out. Curtis came the fuck through for me! Told me how to wire the sidemarkers so they are lit with parking lights, but blink opposite the turn signals. Brilliant! On top of the ECU work, this guy is the man! Thanks so much!
I also have to thank Blkack and Mrpenny as always for their phone advice and patience lol. We played a game of 'What plug is this and where does it go" tonight. No homo.
Woot!
I can’t take any credit for this, MrPenny and Blkack wired all of this for me back in the day. They are cut so close because that’s how I bought them. Same with all the other wiring, I basically just stepped in and loomed it. Thanks so much! Everything checks out great! Maaaddddd props to you two.
Soon enough my new friend, soon enough.
I have a few updates. Cab forward wiring is done, all I need to do is order the clips to secure the harness to the body. I test fitted the fender and everything clears. Interior wiring is mostly done, what I really need to do is hook the dash and HVAC up.
I also finished the carpet. I cleaned it with a high pressure sprayer at a car wash, then duplicolored it. Would have gone with RIT, but the method only allows for Black or a light grey. This worked really good, I recommend it.
Carpet looks a lot lighter than it actually is. I didn’t miss any spots, just brushed and vacuumed the crap out of it.
Man that carpet came out great! Good job bro. We definitely need to set up a time soon to come down there and get that B20 in!
Thanks man I appreciate it! Take your time fellas, but should you come down I will have ale, 5 guys, no fresh out, and good times available. xD
Dash is in! WooT! I only had to take it out twice. Once for the metal, once to remove the blower motor so I could sneak the windshield wiper motor plug down. Spaced those lol. Also it is not the original dash, this is crack free up top and minty fresh. The Vin change was a biotch though. Pics tonight
Here are the pics. Had to take the dash out again. But it should be done now. Hopefully.
And so it begins. Old dash and fresher donor dash.
Got her in, but forgot a bunch of stuff so back up she goes.
Brake booster is in, clutch, speedo and throttle cables are in. Ducts are bolted down and the frame is now in. Forgot the frame lol.
My old vent was busted, grabbed one out of the junkyard but broke the face mounting tabs. Mated the two together and have a good vent.
Got the dash harness in, and the HVAC wired in. Everything is where it should be, took a few tries to get it right.
Then I finished the night cleaning my prop valve. Yay!
Got some more work done to the interior last night.
Played with clusters. JDM cluster housings do not dim, the lights are set. So I put the japanese tach into a GSR cluster and stole the speedo from the LS. Got tired of the kilometers lol.
Replaced another broken vent. Its all good now.
Started the red LED interior lights. I forgot a couple of bulbs were already in the jdm cluster, so I will get it going tonight.
And a few of questions.
-
Where do I wire in power and accessory power for gauges? I already tried power from the cig lighter and accessory from an accessory light. No dice.
-
Am I going to have to wire in the alternator to fusebox wire the hard way? IE back through one of my sealed openings? Can I create a connector for this?
-
What gauge wire should I run for power since the battery is now going to be in the trunk. Is it 8 gauge for power and 4 gauge to the starter? Can I use amp power wire (the stuff you buy at mobile audio places).
-
PCV system. I have searched and looked. WHat is best to use, where can I purchase the hoses and tanks for cheap? Right now I would be happy with a vent to atmosphere system that doesn’t have a return. I really don’t want to drill the block.
Thanks!
Small update. Basically sorted out more interior wiring and that’s it.
Found a 4 door wiper switch at the yard with mint lettering. Looks way cleaner than the hatch one, doesn’t have the mess for the rear wiper. My old one was a 90-91, I broke the original a long time ago.
Got the pillar wiring mostly done. Just have to wire in ground, power and switch. The center gauges are another story.
And the status of the lighting.
Holy shit brotha, that thing is gonna be all ready for a new heart by next sunday
Haha I like the sound of that! I am trying to get everything ready for your arrival, so you don’t have to waste time with the small stuff or tedious things. Though I may ask for your help with the VDO wiring if I can’t figure it out.
Leaving to work on the car now, tonight all I am working on is the engine harness and interior lighting. If I get enough work done to show something for it I will post pics.
Also placed my last order to Hondapartsunlimited…hopefully. Got all the clips and retainers I need, new ITR valve cover seal set (IMCNBlu inspired me here), some other crap.
wow:shock: dood nice work. I see youve been putting in some man hours:) man the wire tuck looks so nice:)
Thanks so much! I have definently been putting in some work, nice that I have something to show for it!
Last night I got the VDO gauges wired in and tested, and created another sub-harness so the gauge set can be easily removed. It was good to see the nearly 30 year old volt gauge work. Got all the wire hold down clips in, re rerouted some wires and harnesses.
All I need to get done before I bolt the dash in is run power to the rear then distribute it to the starter and fuse box, and wait for the LED’s to get here so I can get the VDO’s in. I don’t know how I want to run the alternator to fusebox cable yet, though I am thinking of cheating and not tucking it cause I don’t want to pull the dash out again. Hrmm.
Alright, interior wiring is done! Suspension and wheel wells are clean! And I forgot my darn camera lol.
Does anyone want to come help drop in the new motor Sunday night? no?
hey deceptakhon could u message me were u got all ur led lights for the clusters and stuff half of mine dont work and i wana replace them 8602024982
Haha all I can do is make calls, yes I am in the dinosaur age and quite happy except when those cool apps like drag racer and stuff come out lol.
I got all my stuff from superbrightLEDs.com. I do not know how long these will last, also all the NEO wedge A bulbs I could not get to work, but the 74’s, 24’s and 194’s are great!
