Carlitos' SoCo build thread
Hah, I was in Lake Tahoe for the majority of last week so my online time was cut pretty short… that and work has been kicking my ass lately.

After seeing all of your LED work I nearly want to do a once-over on my stuff and clean all the dash/climate switches and stuff but, meh! Lol

Where are you welding the bung, and where is your can gonna be located? Not that there are a ton of locations available under our hoods, but its always nice to see other options.

With any luck I will have some updates to post on my hooptie after this weekend… [ninja]
Oh snap I see Unified’s thread up top! I’ll check it out man! And if you were in Lake Tahoe posting online something is wrong with you :stuck_out_tongue:

The red LED swap is easy, in a running car it could be done in less than 1 hour. Doo eet, but skip on the Neo’s and save 10 bux.

Thank you very much!

Alright, I have now officially riced out my interior but I like it. :stuck_out_tongue:

My order from Honda. Just small misc stuff.

Got all the shift assembly cleaned and lubed where needed.

Installed. The first time I have wiggled the lever in almost 2 years! Engine braces and covers are in and torqued as well.

Dash is all together. Amazingly fit and finish is exactly as the test fit went. I was a bit worried about this but it went great after a bit of trimming to the center duct. I bit flashier than I was expecting with the fake ass carbon fiber but oh well. For some reason the carpet always looks light in the pics.

Oh snap! Pretty 80’s/90’s huh? I have to admit it was pretty cool seeing everything together and working. The pic shows the lighting as orange, it is actually blood red except the pillar gauges. Anyways sorry for the crappy dark pics.

How I left it. So close to buttoning up the interior.

Moar!!! Awesome work so far. Cant wait to see the finished project.

Sick build, gets me motivated to start working on mine again!

Thanks guys! I was supposed to work on the car last night (and get pics) but I got lazy and played ao3 online lol.

Thanks! Get to work! :stuck_out_tongue:

I put some work in on the car last night, got what I wanted for the night done.

Finally got off my ass and finished looming and securing the rest of the wiring.

Fenders are now bolted in along with the wheel well covers. Starting to look like a car again.

Found all the parts of the air cleaner at the yard. Yay!

Nifty little difference between DB2 and LS

\

I ran the power wire last week, but just scrunched it in. This wouldn’t do, so I pulled the panel and got it secured. Also took out the ABS unit and secured the wiring ghetto style, got tired I suppose.

And since that was all that is holding up interior work, I started getting the carpet secured and other crap in. Seats go in tonight. W00T!

And lastly borrowed a fender roller from Jason. Thanks so much man! This was the motavation to get the fenders in lol.’

coming along nicely

i have a few things I need to do with mine, soon, that I need to get off my ass and do. It’s rather hot out, today, though. Not feeling very motivated when it’s over 100 out :frowning:

Niiiiice! Carpet looks so effing clean. I want to pull mine out and pressure wash it now! Why are there so many things we can to do these dam time/money pits??

no such thing as too much, lol. just not enough time to do it all at once :giggle:

Hahah. Good point.

Thank you sir! I feel you on the heat, been in the 90’s daily here so not as bad but bad enough. All work is done after the kids are in bed, so it’s cooled down a bit.

Thanks man! I hate how the pics alwas conspire to make the carpet look shitty. It is a dark grey and clean, but looks light and dirty in the pics.

Carpet is a time pit, cost me $20 to so it all. My main recommendation is to pressure wash it, a good spray it yourself carwash should have this. I washed it and hosed it, then took it to the car wash and the water coming off the carpet looked like coffee. This was AFTER it was already homewashed. Oh and bring a truck lol.

This. I still need paint, and boost, and new seats and steering wheel, and better coilovers, and shaved bay, and… xD

This car will never be done.

So awesome to see the strides you’ve made since we first started! Great job man!

Thanks man! It has been nice to have such good guidance and friends to help me!

Updates! My friend Justin came by and we put some work in! Finally got done at 3 in the morning.

Measured out and first cut made. I believe this would have came out better had I NOT measured it. lol. My friend Justin did all crossmember work for me, thanks so much man.

All cleaned up! We went to Justin’s Union shop and made use of the presses and tools, came home with this.

Got it welded in, grinded smooth. It was getting late, forgot to take pics before paint and primer. SHitty rushed paint job courtesy of me

Because of my rushed measurements it didn’t fit.

My homeboy took care of it with a heavy hammer and round punch.

All together and in. Header is torqued to spec and we measured the resonator. Only 13 1/2" of space, luckily vibrant makes a 9" resonator. Which was ordered last night, along with flanges and coolant plug thing for prelude to replace my freezeplug.

While Justin was welding there wasn’t much I could do to help him, so I got to work inside the car. Rear seats are in, door sills are in (MrPenny must have took the right side sill off, not a single busted carpet retaining tab. I took the left side off, 6 of 6 broken so I ordered a new one lol), some of the little plastics.

So it is moving right along!

Roger!

Damn Mr.Penny is good! I left my sills intact because I broke the first 2 tabs I tried to un-do. Lol bow

Looking damn good there buddy.

Moving.

Lol thanks! xD

Yeah, it is amusing because you can always tell the areas he worked on. Correct bolts are in the holes ready to go, unbroken tabs. Versus my work, bolts thrown into big coffee can and I have no clue what goes where, hence junkyard trips just to get the right bolts (made 4 in the last month) and locations, and I lose the little mounting clips etc, misplace things. I have learned a bunch from my D-town peeps. lol

Thanks man! Soon enough she will be running. The OG owner of this engine lost the tune, so I downloaded a B20B/Vtec with stock injectors from Hondata. Hopefully I don’t blow my motor up.

hides cardboard box with misc bolts and clips Yeah what’s wrong with you dude??

As long as your physical timing is correct, id think a map from Hondata is trustworthy. My only concern would be the elevation their tune is for vs your high ass CO altitude lol. But with working baro/map sensor, I would assume you to be ok.

 thanks that made me laugh.

Thanks for the info. I am just at the point where I am done spending money, it is what it is. If I can run a tune which won’t kill my motor I would be happy with that, even if it doesn’t reach its full potential. All stock sensors are intact.

Do I need to have my ECU plugged into the car to upload the map? Noob question, all I had was a vafc. I went and rebuilt my little Dell laptop, it’s now my tuning laptop. Except I have no skills or wideband, so I’ll call it my map uploader for the time being.

Ordered a vibrant 9 (12" overall) resonator, Bloc 2.5" header flange and Egay 2.5" 3 bolt flange. Instead of spending the cash on the -10 AN freezeblock plug, I ordered one of those Prelude oil joints which was way cheaper. Ah well.

You need the Moats/Ostrich to burn the chip, no?

I don’t think so. I believe with S300 you just plug in a laptop and upload the map from there. Not 100% sure though, I don’t even know how to use the darn thing lol.

Rest of the crap below doesn’t involve the DA so the wall of words won’t be missed xD

No work put into the car just hung out with the family and we worked on my Uncles new motor. 298 CID (Bored and stroked 281 Ford modular) 8.5:1 Comp fully built motor. We changed the heads, cams, and got it all torqued. Neat how you torque the heads on the modulars, torque to spec then give 1/4 turn on the studs in sequence 4 times. He has a brand new Ford racing 07’ GT500 6 speed trans to with it. Pics if anyone gives a crap :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, my uncle let me drive his 480whp Whipple charged 05 Mustang today. I wouldn’t get on it because of being scared to crash it, so he bolted on his drag radials and we took her back out. Might be in the market for a 88-93 GT daily driver. To be honest I want one now. WHat has he done to me?

On a side note, my daughter drove her first go cart yesterday. It was more exhilerating being the passenger than actually driving. Her foot barely reached the pedal, she was 7" short of the minimum height but daddy got her on into the driver seat after being nice to the cart peoples. Only spun out a couple of times. I am beaming proud and was laughing the whole time everytime we went out. My wife was very amused as she knew our exact position due to the laughter. Overall very nice motorsports weekend for the whole family.

D’oh! I keep forgetting that you went with the darkside (S300)… I believe you’re right, you just flash it in real-time. But I’ve never messed with it before so I could verywell be wrong about that.

Sounds like an awesome weekend for sure… I used to have a '91 LX 5.0 convertable, definitely a fun car. The fastback GT is a better looking platform for sure. But don’t do it! Resist!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Throw some pictures of it up, I’m sure there are a few of us who’d be appreciative.
