Carlitos' SoCo build thread
D’oh! I keep forgetting that you went with the darkside (S300)… I believe you’re right, you just flash it in real-time. But I’ve never messed with it before so I could verywell be wrong about that.

Sounds like an awesome weekend for sure… I used to have a '91 LX 5.0 convertable, definitely a fun car. The fastback GT is a better looking platform for sure. But don’t do it! Resist!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Throw some pictures of it up, I’m sure there are a few of us who’d be appreciative.
Haha we’ll get it all fingered out. I’ll get some pics uploaded!

More than likely I won’t get it, just a frivolous thought. I’ve always loved the Fox body GTs, but I need fuel economy right now.

She was looking good last night brotha ! I ment to ask last night when we meet up at revolutions but of course I forgot  if your going to be around in the end of Aug, do you want to come out to High Plains with me :naughty:

Thanks man!

And to answer your question…YEAH! Whether my car is good or not, I will go with you. Make sure it is not a school day though
Yeah, it is amusing because you can always tell the areas he worked on. Correct bolts are in the holes ready to go, unbroken tabs. Versus my work, bolts thrown into big coffee can and I have no clue what goes where, hence junkyard trips just to get the right bolts (made 4 in the last month) and locations, and I lose the little mounting clips etc, misplace things. I have learned a bunch from my D-town peeps. lol

Thanks man! Soon enough she will be running. The OG owner of this engine lost the tune, so I downloaded a B20B/Vtec with stock injectors from Hondata. Hopefully I don’t blow my motor up.
Haha, that’s just a habit I’ve developed over the years. It definitely comes in handy
About the tune though, you should at the very least get street tuned man. Talk to Greg (Curtis’s buddy) I’m sure he’d be able to help you out for sure. That was the whole point of spending all that monies on that super duper S300
hides cardboard box with misc bolts and clips Yeah what’s wrong with you dude??

As long as your physical timing is correct, id think a map from Hondata is trustworthy. My only concern would be the elevation their tune is for vs your high ass CO altitude lol. But with working baro/map sensor, I would assume you to be ok.
LOL, I’ve still got a box filled with bolts etc too! But yea the baro sensor will be able to take care of the altitude difference
Do I need to have my ECU plugged into the car to upload the map? Noob question, all I had was a vafc. I went and rebuilt my little Dell laptop, it’s now my tuning laptop. Except I have no skills or wideband, so I’ll call it my map uploader for the time being.

Instead of spending the cash on the -10 AN freezeblock plug, I ordered one of those Prelude oil joints which was way cheaper. Ah well.
Yea unfortunately with the S300 you have to have it plugged into the car with power to mess with it. Where’s with Neptune/Demon it’s powered through the USB

Dude, that sounds like so much fun! 500hp would be fucking awesome to feel
Thanks man!

Haha you are right, I have this fancy S300 and am not doing anything with it, completely defeats the purpose. We will see, I definently want to get as nice tune but am worried on not having a daily for next semester. Going to be really hard with one car when 3 family members are going to school (insert Jeff Foxworthy joke here), my daughter got a scholarship to a private/charter school due to that art contest and grades, but it is 15 miles each way away her current is a few blocks. Maybe selling the wagon for B20/S300/OEM goodies was a little stupid on my part

Regarding pics of the Stang, you and Glynn have seen it but I need to get some. That day of driving my Dad took a few and a few of us building the motor, I should be getting them in my email soon. But it was pretty sweet, I only took the car to 4500 RPM and it was getting squirrly with the drag radials. Fun but scary how fast it got up to speed.

Awesome! Track day should be fun, I should hopefully have Rabi’s by then so one way or another I am going to drive a DA.

And I just got off the phone with Glynn, be safe up there. If you have any issues give me a call I would be happy to take a road trip and help out.

So after a hiatus I decided to bring in some serious muscle to help out with the build.

Thanks for your hard work Bro! Rear end is about buttoned up, brakes are done just need to get those sensors out.

$13 shipped on ebay, seemed like a good deal

Interior is almost done, alarm is wired and tucked away. Almost got defeated by the door lock control module but figured out where it goes. Seats look fuckin haggard compared to the rest. Sigh, oh well.

I had to go to the yard for more clips and hardware, found this badboy in a 92. First one I have seen. If this will work with a S2000 radio I will keep it.

Real nice, Carl.
Nice seeing you the other day.

Thanks! It is always a pleasure seeing you guys, I do hope to come up more often

Good to see your finally letting little Vincey break out those big guns

Haha he is loving it. He usually helps me when I am working on cars at home, did a bunch of work to the wagovan and DB8 when I had them.

I am coming up to Denver on Friday hopefully. Selling a B17A1, close ratio ys1, GSR front and rear seats, GSR cluster, GSR harness, etc etc. Knowing my luck it will fall through, buyt damn I am crossing my fingers I would be happier than pigs in mud if I could pick up Rabi’s DA before school started.

Parts are arriving, I am going to go to Napa and rad shack to pick up some wiring and the correct flange.

Sooooo… 8 gauge from splitter to fusebox, 4 gauge from splitter to starter? Or do I need them both 4? The fusebox is about 20" from the splitter, so I think 8 should be fine. Hrmm.

Got my catch cans, already know how I will baffle them (does not involve stainless scrub pads) and K&N filter. Went to the yard and got a nice heatshield for the resonator, along with the fittings for the steering rack, and a fresh coolant tank.

That oem EQ is pretty damn snazzy man.

That’s so awesome Alicia (SP?) got a scholarship man! Keep pushing her, and she’ll no doubt do great things.
Hope you get that stuffz sold and can pick up Robbie’s car soon! Track day should be quite fun

There’s too much to reply to in here, so I’m sure we’ll talk shop when you’re up here next, hahaha

Thanks! Needs OEM CD player!

Haha all good man, we spell it Elysia. What can I say I was only 21.

And yeah I do hope to get that car soon! Already ready to wet sand the orange peel out and paint the front bumper.

No worries on the response, I am sure I turn a lot of people off with my worthless wall o’ words lol. Looking forward to hanging out soon!

And btw, I just got a PM from Shane about my Ebay exhaust. Good guy, my faith was not misplaced!

ANother late night of working on the car. I am going to sneak into bed and hopefully my wife won’t notice

Well the guy I ordered the resonator from on the 20th dropped the ball and just shipped it today. Should be overnighted, at least he said so. My order from Hondapartsunlimited gave me a message stating they have to special order a few parts (I ordered 2 weeks ago), unless they get it to me by Saturday morning then I will not be at the CRSX meet.

To save you guys from the typical wall of words here goes.

Finished with the last or the re-wiring. Everything in this area was cracked and brittle at the connectors after 216k miles, so was all replaced. All retaining brackets are in, an amalgamation of junkyard stuffs. I was dreading doing this, so I am quite pleased it is finally done.

Camoflauged (literally) the rusty blemish after using the converter. Now you cannot see it! Har har har

Got the last of the ducting from the yard, found this minty heatshield and installed it all.

Money shot, nothing more will be added except a couple of catch cans. This is not the valve cover I will be running, taking all the scrapes as a tool shelf.

Cooling system is in, just need a few hoses here and there.

Some new parts, catch cans are cheapy Ebay ones, going to be going to Home Depot to get the piping for baffling. I don’t think I will be using the fish tank quality hose. Thanks again Shelby for the piping and flange!

Rear shelf is in, nearly all buttoned up on the backside.

Mocked the front bumper to check headlight fitment. Sides are not bolted so don’t mind the sag, this will all be coming off tomorrow. Just seeing the bumper and lights made me fall in love with the car all over again.

To all those wondering why I am running the stock air box, I just think it looks cool lol. ANd I HATED that fucking Weapon R Short Ram, and am over it. When a dyno day comes around I will borrow a AEM CAI (I haven’t talked to you about this yet Glynn  ) and see how much power is really lost.

And will someone please buy that B17 sitting on the stand? No really, I am sick of looking at it.

Holy shit that almost appears to be a whole car… are my eyes deceiving me :stare: HAHA when ever its dyno time. Ill be there, CAI in hand!

plan on finishing it all up next sunday and monday :D:rockon:

Niiiiiiice! I love it! AGP looks so hawt.

Funny how much more complete the car looks with a set of headlights lol.

Forgive me for not reading back, but what all needs to be done from here?

Love the progress so far, and is that an accord lip on the floor I see? Lol

I heard from a friend of mine, if you poke some holes on the stock air filter box its proven to give a bit more power than a actual aftermarket intake. I never tried it but I can believe it, but at the end of a day its still just an intake lol

Lol thanks man! I know right, crazy how it looks like a car now. It’s about time to go under the bed and get those new headlight seals and cowl…

Thanks buddy! Not as nice as a certain fresh Horizon car I know of but its good for now. I have to admit I absolutely love the AGP, fell in love with it when I bought a totalled GSR for parts and wished I could get one that wasn’t fuxored. That led to meeting the owner of this current car, so worked out great!

Thanks! Haha yessir that is a new Accord lip that will be going on this car since I cannot afford a JDP lip. Regarding the airbox, where the big resonator goes i was thinking of putting on a velocity stack on the bottom of the box or something. But I don’t want to spend the cash lol.

And true to his word, ebay seller the-parts-powerhouse overnighted my resonator. I highly recommend them, admitted the mistake and apologized profusely. All I can say is I am impressed! And they have some of the best prices on the net for parts.

ANd Unified, to answer your post, I need to:

~Install the timing belt covers, which means I have to pull the timing belt and cams.
~Install fresh valve cover.
~Replace block freeze plug, make baffling for catch cans, install and route hoses.
~Weld up resonator to new flanges, install.
~Mold Accord lip to bumper.
~Install all new emblems and decals.
~Finish suspension, find correct EG brake mounting brackets or cut the DA ones to fit.
~Install master cylinder and flare the fitting, bleed lines, then install stainless lines and bleed again.
~Run alternator wire.
~Install battery tray in the rear, secure.
~Install and mount the fusebox, finish the power wiring.
~Button up the interior.
~Install axles and fill transmission.
~Finish polishing my spark wire cover.
~Install bracket that ties block to intake manifold, secure engine harness to that.
~Install Lover Souls and be happy no one wanted to buy them. Someone should though…
~Locate and install fender plastics.
~Finish looping the powersteering lines together, then take out the box itself and gut it as per TI instructions.
~Upload my B20B Vtec stock injector map to ECU.
~Pressure wash the floormats.
~Get suspension good enough to drive to alignment shop.
~Re-align rear bumper. It has had a slight sag since I bought the car.
~Notch rear plastics for strut tower bar.
~Refinish carbon bonnet.
~Drop kick red valve cover :stuck_out_tongue:
~Preload and torque everything. Double check torque in the engine bay.
~Enjoy car, prepare for inevitable grimlins that will keep it from running for a few days.
~Refill diminished beer supply. I was pretty hammered by 3AM, got into a deep conversation with my car.

I forgot a bunch of stuff. Soon enough.

Bwahahahahahah!! Comedy. A list like that definitely requires the use of beer and, stuff…

It is a long list, but much of that stuff should go relatively quick. It will be up and running in time for some fresh CO powder  lol

edit
Did that cute dvd also come in your mail today? I’m sure you were looking forward to that more than the resonator.
