Lol hey that white DA looks kinda familiar.
Hey guys, sorry for lack of updates. Last few weeks of school has been intense along with running my little Ebay business. One buyer lucked out and got a BNIB set of OEM bumper plugs. Hehe
Thanks for the info! It seems I have to modify the ECU plate to accept a USB cable. Working on all that now.
xD I love my DA, though after taking it to sea level it feels gutless now. That P8R gets down at sealevel, feels like I lost 20-30 butt horse power up here. Sad.
Only update is I detailed my interior of the new DA. Last day of classes is Thursday, and I will be driving the db2 on Xmas day.
Fresh interior, I love how clean it is. Thanks Rabi! I have a 92-93 cluster to install when the temperature appraoches something resembling non freezing. Found a weighted OEM FC RX-7 knob at the yard, I love it!
Clean daily! Makes a big difference compared to driving a shitbox day in/day out.
I nearly got mine out for the weekend, but I was lazy⦠Thankfully though because this snow would have me regretting it.
Nice thread man. You and your boys have put in a lot of work on this car, the results are amazing and so is the build process. Itās good to see a true db2 well done because there arenāt so many left anymore. But at least you own a piece of history, and thatās something to be proud of.

Thanks man! It needs a wetsand something fierce, then I can get the mudflaps on and a front lip. All I want are some 15" wheels and the white one is done.
Yeah keep that DA inside, thing is way too pretty to send her out into the snow. Are they salting the roads where you live? They started doing it here, hate it.
Thanks! Yeah I love the car and am very grateful for all the work my friends have put in. Hopefully she will be done soon and I can drive her on Xmas day. *crosses fingers
o
Nice burnout :giggle:
rear wheel drive teggy
Thanks for the pics man! Where are yours?
The very next day my steering rack pinch bolt/Ujoint came off completely. While doing 45 on Academy. I almost died. So I need to go through the car as I havenāt driven it since then since I am afraid next time it happens I wonāt live to tell the story. Beware when buying other peoples projects.
Nice pictures heheh.
Surprisingly we have like, zero snow here man⦠the ski resorts have like 9" snowpack, theyāre hurting very very bad this year.
Iām amazed at how much snow you guys have in CO, and how dry it is here.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Thanks! I am loving the snow, went sledding two days in a row and have a collection of snowmen in the front and back of the house lol. Itās actually funny it snowed so much, usually Xmas are dry and the real snow rolls in around February.

I didn;t mean to start anything with that post. It was a big event and scary, when you completely lose the steering and when I brake it pulls one way. I am still happy with the car, just need to get the rack up to snuff. And I am always happy with any work and help that comes my way, after all ultimately I am responsible for the mods. Did you find that lip yet?

Roger that, again my apologies. It did come off as asshatish. Merry Christmas guys
You asshat!!!
Merry Christmas buddy
Lol thanks! Hopefully your new year is going well
Tonight I got everything buttoned up, installed the freshly welded up resonator (Thanks Agazzi!) and preloaded and torqued the suspension. So it is on the ground, just waiting on fuel washers and I can fire her up.
Yay! Fire that baby up⦠Then take it to a carwash, gādamn!
Great news though man, canāt wait for you to make an in-car vid hehe.
I like this. Cant wait to see it running!
wow that looks hella sweet. I want your valve cover. I just have a plain ole black one.
:excite: im so excited for joo, appearently not as much as justin does though

Haha carwash aināt going to cut it this needs a handrub! I would have rolled it out already to wash her were it not so cold!
Yeah i am itching to drive the thing.
Unified, I canāt find the thread where you were talking about the proper grit to use when sanding the CF clear. Something to do with marine resin or something. Enlighten me if you would sir
Thanks man! Hopefully soon, can;t wait to cruise with all my DA friends!
Thanks! It is just a JDM valve cover (big vtec) with -10 an bungs and red powder coat. I have been wanting a red itr cover since I was 16 lol.
Haha yeah we had a few rounds of Kraken and beers. Glynn and Agaazi thank you so much for all the help with this car. It would not be nearly as nice or well built without your tremendous effort. I owe you guys so much

I hear ya⦠well not really, its been much warmer here than there lol.
As far as the hood goes⦠My brother just refinished his CF hood that had MAJOR oxidation problems, So I should be able to shed some light on the situation.
He went with 500/800/1500 gritt, all on an orbital air sander. Now,like I said, his had MAJOR oxidation. On a hood that is in better condition, id say do 800/1000/1500 and a good polish and youād be good.
The resin used on these hoods is much harder than an automotive clearcoat, thatās why I compared it to marine resin/gelcoat. So you can get away with attacking it with some heavy-gritt sandpaper and having it buff out. If you hit your painted car with 500/800, youāre in for a very unpleasant surprise.
If you donāt have access to a DA/orbital sander, you can do it by hand, it will just take much longer. And use a sanding-block or something to ensure an even surface⦠you can leave āfingerā marks/lines otherwise.
The polish we use is made by Meguires and is called Diamond Cut 2.0⦠it is one of the best compounds out there. It ācutsā through sand marks very well, but it leaves a nice shine. Many other products are either too aggressivex, or too fine⦠and require multiple products⦠whereas with Diamond Cut, it can be used as more of a one-step product with great results.
Either way you go about it, it definitely takes some finesse⦠get at me with any questions and Iāll do my best to help you out.
This is when he did the first half of it, so the pictures are old⦠but the process is the same.
It is VERY possible to sand through the clear and into the weave, so you have to be careful and conscious of that, but you should be good.
Shit, come down to SLC and Iāll give you the homie hook-up price and knock it out for you
