Carlitos' SoCo build thread

Thanks! Much appreciated  Also, last week of school so I will have some wtime to work on the teg with ya.

Thanks! Going to wetsand it soon.

I picked up a new exhaust, a Greddy SP2. Got it for a steal and its practically brand new. This is it for the RS, no more work lol.

STFU!!! seriusly where do you find all this stuff

Love it! Looks like its in great condition man. Nice addition.

Haha people sell the oddest stuff sometimes. Guy knew what he had just needed cash I guess. And thanks! Its really nice got it installed tonight and installed a resonator in place of the cat.

I may be tucking it away in storage for another DA. I love the sound up top and the butt dyno says yes. It is quiet when off the throttle, but down low does have a sort of ricey sound imho. Not bad at all its not raspy or anything I think i’m just getting old. And since its a daily I spend all my time down low, those blips are loud when rev matching downshifts even at low rpm. Its the reason I passed on the HKS hi power the original owner offered to me when buying the car.

Haha but I did find a massive hole in the stock exhaust.

:tapfing: Ahheeeemmmmm

All fixed!

Best news today! Lets get that bish in and running!

 Is Penny feeling alright? Well Im happy someone’s project is getting done :ohyeah:

heh, funny…

i just call it how I see it…

Jameson/Club sodas for everyone!

Can’t we all get along? FWIW Penny and Blackack came down multiple nights and did all the wiring and tucking, offered guidance, CLEANED parts, etc. He has always gave me a hand when needed and has done a great job. Good times were had.

Well, the night after the block was welded I had it in and running. Still has a seep, leaves a 4 inch puddle after about 30 mins of running along with whats in the webbing.

ALso this is not the fault of my welder. He gave a good effort and hooked me up. Buyer beware of buying a motor that is in good running condition (so the seller says) but you don’t find the shortcuts taken until way later (like someone jamming a fitting for VTEC feed line into a smaller less threads 1/8 BSP thread, I know what happens now look for this please when buying a LS or B20/VTEC).

I think I am done. I have pulled the motor multiple times, timed it multiple times, replaced all sorts of seals, wasted 4 quarts of Honda MTF, etc etc. I think I’ma part out and take the fam on a vacation. I will keep the shell but damn.

Motor is up for 1200 or will part out. New seals, ITR late spec cams, Skunk2 mani and cam gears and much more

I think a higher power is hinting @ boost. :burnout:

Dude I got defeated by a cracked block weeping oil. I don’t even want to think of heavily modding a car now. Its all fun, but in hindsight I spent too much time and money on my car when I should have been spending it on my family. IMHO if there is a higher power it’s his/her way of telling me to get a new hobby and spend more time with the family.

Thanks though xD

It all maters what makes you happy brother. If spending it on the family does that for you, then Do it up

Atleast we had good times while working on it! Glad to hear your atleast keeping the shell. one day well get her running again

x2. Although I don’t think a bad experience should hinder you from doing what you enjoy, I understand that family does come first. Whatever you decide to do. Your always welcome to come up and kick it Carl. Always more fun with you around.

Damn, sorry to hear that you had such a hard time with that motor… It definitely gets tiresome pulling stuff multiple times etc etc…

Give it some time, you’ll be back at it

No need to get butthurt it was a joke…my apologies :hugs:

As for Carl whats with a leak stopping you…Everyone has problems I must have stayed under my car for about 3 weeks fixing leaks after start up…I say source a cheap B20 block and buy a new headgasket and we will swap everything over…shit you bring the block, new headgasket, Hondabond, new bearings, upgrade to ARP rod bolts and old motor up and I’ll do it in my garage you should be able to rev it to 8,500 especially if you sourced a good deal on rods you would’nt have to worry about the bottom end. If you cant do it this summer shoot for next summer!

Thanks man! Dude I had a blast working on the car and there will be more to come. I just need to step away from it for a bit. I won’t sell the GSR, I do really like the car believe it or not lol. Just started thinking of what else I could have done with the cash and it went downhill from there. I did make a partout thread (selling non essentials) but didnt post at the last minute. I would regret it I think.

Haha word up man, I was just feeling a bit sorry for myself and a bit frustrated after we did all this work and what is keeping me is this BS engine I bought from someone else and inheritied his problem. WOuld not have been an issue but I stressed to him I needed a ‘need nothing’ engine. Lesson learned, I will only be buying from Hmotors from now on.

Thanks and yeah it got real old. Pulling it then installing it then firing it up to see an oil puddle, pulling it and installing it to see it again is getting to be a downer after all the excitement. My wife thinks I just use it as an excuse to work on the car lol. Really though she feels bad xD

Thanks man! I’m thinking about it, but I can;t fathom spending another few hundred on this motor though it is tempting. I have a OEM GSR girdle for it as well, but can’t do a rebuild on it as its too costly. I think I’m going to order some Devcon and see if that will fix er up. Its really the last shot I will give the motor and then i will part it out as I doubt anyone wants a cracked block.

Well if your up for the rebuild let me know Im down!
