Carlitos' SoCo build thread
Haha thanks guys. Glynn, will get you one going as soon as I get another bezel.

Further updates can be found on HAI.

Thanks for the space.

come on mini, even Im a member on HAI even thought I never get on LOL

I hope I can find some time to help :frowning:

lolā€¦welllā€¦im a member of facebook! and you dont. everyone has facebook haha. maybe i should start an account there huhā€¦i just feel so uncomfortable cause im not familiar with it and donā€™tk now anyone.

Bump!!

yea! whats new carl? been workin on the thing?

haha thankS! In regards to HAI, itā€™s a pretty gruff bunch, I donā€™t know if mini would like it there, though the leg humping would be far less there than here. xD

Mini arenā€™t we freinds on facebook? I swear I am friends with a certain boosted red car on flatbed lol.

As far as work since the last update, MrPenny was gracious enough to let me use his press (again) and we knocked the last of the bushings out. So RTA bushings are in, and hopefully they are properly clocked. Lower ball joints are in as well.

I called Ingalls Engineering and got some of those sleeve washers for the front camber kit. Talked to a guy named Dave who took note of my issue and my address, next day the sleeves were at my house. He didnā€™t charge me any shipping or anything. Fantastic customer service, absolutely nice group of guys. So needless to say, Ingalls has instilled a bit of loyalty and I will be ordering parts from them later.

Also ordered some parts from Honda. Nothing fancy, just servicable parts. Though since I owed the AckofBlack a new clutch cable I ordered a new one for me as well. xD Also, I broke down after all these years and placed an order from superbrightleds. I ordered all red LED, kind of regretting it now. lol. ah well, it is what it is and it might actually turn out good. Started taking apart switches to get the color film out.

Lastly, i went to where the car is and started going to town on the wheel wells. Just soap, water and a toothbrush to clean it up. I really want to start looming the harness but I need to get the alarm in and power to the car so I know everything is good BEFORE we loom.

So basically I have a bunch of bullshit updates that really are just fluff. Like my last business paper I turned in. lulz

some update is better than nothing! unlike someone coughā€¦couch TROY! cough. its okay he ll never see this post anyways cause he never goes on anymore.

and you know what? I heard that red car is awesomly awesomest of the awesomeā€¦just saying.

Lol Mini! I heard that red car was awesomely awesome as well as fantastically fast, I just havenā€™t gotten a ride so i will not say the same until then. nudge nudge xD

LOL, Miniā€™s car is on HAI, but no Mini!

Thatā€™s badass that Ingalls hooked you up though man! I knew after they sent Robbie free hardware for his camber kit that they were good peoples. How many freakin clutch cables does Glynn have?! I borrowed one too for the Prelude, hahaha.
Did Kevo ever get back to you about that fender roller? When is your Spring Break yo? We should plan for some work to take place, ya?

haha where are joo mini? Yeah it was fantastic they hooked me up, even on the phone I told them I would be more than happy to pay. Their response was just wending me the stuff out! Kevo never got back to me on the roller, I might get better results with a PM lol. I owed Glynn the clutch cable as trade for something he had that I wanted xD

But, this is my last week until Spring break! So my SPring break starts on Friday, though I think Business manages to gay it up and I have some crap due on SUnday.

Sooooo, I basically ordered some more crap and took more pictures. Also started a neat gauge in dash project, it is coming out nice so Ithought I would post it up.

Come get one of these Glynn!

Also ordered a small box of misc crap. TB gasket, subframe bolts, thermostat and all the crap on the list that has been building. I still love these little red and white baggies!

RTAā€™s are finally in, as well as some new Balljoints!

I oredered some lube from energy suspension. They sent a big ass tub of 8 oz. Colorado guys, hit me up hit me up if you need any! Also my shiny new Ebay oil donut.

Finally broke down anfd bought a ricer Autometer 2 gauge pillar panel.

I am even more riced out, a Prosport gauge. It may only be within 30 degrees of actual, but damn it looks cool!

And onto my gauge project. I came across a 1985 VW GTI, and it had the optional (or trim specific) VDO gauges in it. VDO makes some real nice quality gauges, but these are not the most exciting to look at. The senders are M10x1, but there are no adapters with a M10x1 female to 1/8 npt male, its all reverse for the dub guys.

So working on that, should have them going soon. I got the gauge set for free, so I am into it financially 27 shipped for ebay oil donut, and 12 for the 3M plastic putty and filler and JB weld plastic putty. Yeah! And I tested a Prosport and greddy gauge in the recessed holes, looks great recessed! So when I get the cash to spend on nicer gauges (greddY), I can upgrade and they will just slide right in.

Gauges and bezel. I later hacked the bezel to a nice flat piece as the surround would not work where I wanted it.

Harness and senders

Vents out

After a couple coats and build up of the lower rail. Also had to lengthen the sides 1/8" on each side.

And overall fitment

So far

Booyah! lol. I get to keep the HVAC controls and sliders in the stock location. The new bezel will sit between 1/16" to 1/8" into the big bezel (Yo dawg, I heard you like bezels. So I put a bezel in you bezelā€¦), not flush and I havenā€™t decided how deep yet. Fit and finish is good, after I get the HVAC controls out of storage the bottom rail will be sanded to fit factory with it.

man thats gonna look really good right there cant wait to see it finished keep up the good work

carl nice progress!!! again another colorado guy and there DIY stuff. whats next a flux capacitor mounted flush in the headrest? :giggle: only kidding

nice project! Looking good so far.

Iā€™m here!!! Iā€™m here!!! lol
It totaly is aweseomely awesome. :[ I know you havenā€™t I think only troy and glynn has gotten one. lol Hopefully you can get one soon and gazzi. Hope you had a good bday and sorry I couldnā€™t make it. I had a test the next day and was in middle of putting the car together.

Ingenious my friend

Thanks guys! Damn, thatā€™s a good idea on the flux capacitor mount. I had mine all tucked away, gonna bring it out into the light for all to see! xD

Mini I had a wonderful birthday, so good the next morning in class was not fun at all lol. No worries mini, you are a busy lady and logistics is sorta big. Plus those dang mid-terms are just brutal!

haha thanks man! Ima look for more bezels and see if I can make more for the colorado homies that want one. No charge of course as always!

Also, looking back, it would have been so much easier to just mold it in, the gaps and fit would be a non issue. But I think it will look good recessed with some Dinoc covering it! Also did the first test fit with the dinoc (just scraps). The film pads out the bezel between 1/16 and 1/32". Its enough that the fit is a little tight for comfort, so i need to shave about 1/32 off each side and the top. The rail that butts the climate control is finished, got it all togetether and they fit beautifully, and the bottom of the rail is exactly where the bottom of the vent bezel would be. No pics, project went on the sidelines as my wife and kids are keeping me busy lol. This break itā€™s almost like my daughter is in school! Art classes, ballet classes, gymnastics. If only I can bump my daughter up the waiting list for girl scouts. Then my buy 1000 boxes of cookies and sell them during the fall for tons o profit will come into fruition. xD

Project bezel in my bezel is nearly complete! All I need to do is mount it in place, but I want to get a better big bezel.

Sorry for the crappy pics. Everything is dusty, its in storage and will continue that way for awhile so I didnā€™t bother to clean everything. It will all polish up nicely though!

Lastly, Itā€™s not 100% the way I would like it. Next effort should be OEM quality though.

And fit.

Looks great brah! Thatā€™s a nice fit for sure. Now you just have to make use of that middle gauge :stuck_out_tongue:

I got that HX wheel for ya too. If you go to that place off of Tower/Colfax tomorrow, I stashed the other wheel in the Subaru (back seat), next to that Wagon, LOL

You are so the man, man! Thanks so much!I will be headed to D-town at 6:30 in the am, enough time to have breakfast before hitting the yard. Iā€™ll call you around lunch time, figure Iā€™ll take you and Glynn out to lunch for your time and effort and good-lookin out!

Also, the middle gauge is the oil pressure gauge xD. Thatā€™s why I might just run 2 oil pressure gusges (that one and the greddy) cause I like how all three match and I donā€™t want to mess that up  Tired sticking the greddy OP gauge, and it looks weird cause of different fonts, and the trust is a 270 sweep while these are just 90.

Lol, I donā€™t know why I update here only 6 people look at muh thread. Ah well for those 6 its worth it. For the rest just look and click away. Thanks.

I refinished the brake booster again(third time is the charm). Completed the wire tuck to the wiper motor. And got most of the rear suspension in.

SPC camber kit was broken apart and lubed nicely, good as new. Refreshed the ST sway bar, basically just lubed all the bushings real good and cleaned it off.

I reached a stopping point because I have no clue which bolts go where. I did get the RTAā€™s in, and the toe arms have been swapped out. So for the rear all that is needed is to get the bolts to put everything back in.

So, I will be making a junkyard trip today to scrounge what I need. Also, went to the yard yesterday and grabbed 2 40/40 prop valves, and a COMPLETE set of non abs brake lines sans rear lines. Also found a non AC DA. Grabbed the fan switch and AC delete duct. Today I shall steal all the bolts off her.

Only pics I have, rear swaybar difference. Its beefy! Should let the rear end hang out and play.
