Changing interior bulbs / led swap

all I got is red X

Ahh, my bad. Now all is fine.

everything looks real nice
Aside from the climate control though, when you figure something to even that out, take pics of inside and behind to show what you did.

besides I added in led arrays on the bottom.

are you referring to the under dash lighting? or did you do something different to the gauge cluster?
you mentioned that it is very even… did you do something different to accomplish that?

The arrays are under the dash, you are right.

As far the actual gauge LEDs and the installation procedure, I did not modify anything. Ordered same exact items and installed as per the first post’s directions. Gauges just worked out nice. I’m not sure I will be fucking with climate control further though. The diffuser in there was adequate, i guess the LEDs are just a wee bit too bright. I can live with that. Besides I had the unlit knob syndrome.

EDIT: Now that I look back at the pictures, two tiny (2-3mm diameter) paper circles glued to the very tip of the LEDs might provide the ‘anti-glare’ effect found in foglights and even out the glow of the diffuser piece. NOT tested, highly hypothetical. Any similar solution would also work, the idea is that the beams that meet the diffuser piece perpendicularly to its surface will be very bright, so instead we block them or diffuse and randomize them further.

Looks good exept for the under dash kit

'Tis why it’s got a killswitch.

dude if you like it dont listen to haters
I do like the under dash glow I think it looks very nice.

i thnk its coo. jus the neon under the dash on both sides looks kinda ricey, but the gauges look tight.

Besides, stop misusing the term rice. Mkay? Rice by definition and history is pretending to be something you are not. Or, rather the car.

Just ordered the bulbs listed in first post, doing same install as awalp, in blue.

Once they get here, I’ll take a few during-install and finished pictures.

Also…just throwing the idea out there…the website in the first post sells UV LED bulbs. Your color choice of UV paint on your needles + top UV bulbs = very nice. I haven’t done this, but I’ve seen it done and it looks awesome. Using UV Paint + A mini blacklight tube on top of the cluster works too, but you may have to screw around with getting the blacklight to sit correctly. UV paint can be purchased in multiple colors at any hobby store such as Hobby Lobby or Michael’s.

Anyone else have any LED/UV lighting tips for interiors? There’s plenty of other stock bulbs just begging to be replaced with LED. Make sure to post details of installs, pics, and links/part numbers…so no one is left wondering “wtf do I need/wtf do i do?”.

Yeah I replaced nearly every bulb in the car with LEDs
I spent well over 100 dollars on LEDs
I changed my tail lights turn signals, corner markers, interior light, gauges, climate control, and more

I’m just doing the same install in the first post…and depending on how that turns out, I may do some other swaps to LED. I’m kind of hoping the install ends up looking evenly-lit like a few pics I’ve seen so far.

Gauge Cluster is now swapped over to blue LED. Still need to do thermostat controls. I’m also going to remove all the bulbs for warning lights, and remove switches(hazard, defrost, fogs, etc) and replace all those bulbs with wedge type white LED…to enhance the brightness.

What style LED bulbs should I use for my turn signals/reverse lights/tail lights? Single or Multi LED? Wedge type or Regular? I want my exterior lights to look nice.

Here’s pics of the gauge cluster after conversion.

Just finished the conversion!
Green backlighting with a single white LED for the needles

Matched the Greddys so well!

very nice!!!

upgrade

Nice work!
Interesting setup on your dash. Got a build linked anywhere? would like to see daytime shot.

This is actually a desk top computer .
No build thread yet, I hang with a local forum and i am waiting til the next meet to unveil it. so I will create a build thread then. until then i am trying to keep this on the down low… which you can see I am having trouble with… lol.

its not finished …
I still need to do some more fabrication and bondo and sand and paint.this just started out as a test fit… but i couldn’t wait. so it is currently in use.
So Ignore all the dust from the sanding, the climate controls will be molded in when i get the slot load dvd rom to mount above it. I also need to figure out a paint that will match the vinyl better… or just go with vinyl instead.
I also have another project involving the shifter so i cant put the boot back quite yet… so ignore that too. lol

Just did changed over the bulbs to light up red. I ordered everything from http://superlumination.com different amount of bulbs compared to the OP. For the guage cluster I ordered; 2 194s, 3 24’s, and 2 74s. For the climate control 2 74’s was needed, 1 74 for the fan speed/temp, 1 74 for cigarette lighter, and 1 74 for ash tray.

I read a post that said the radio light was 74, but its not. It is actually a neo wedge type b or type c bulb. Also the bulbs for the hazard button, defrost, cruise etc is neo wedge type a bulbs (7 is needed). I have these installed, and they aren’t really bright at all.

oL_sKooL_inTeG - looks sick as shit!

Thank you for FINALLY posting the bulb sizes for the climate control as well as the quantity! Thanks man!
