new vtec solenoid gasket

how the engine sits

engine is mostly ready to be fitted back in the bay - not doing wire tuck - never done it and I’m short on time so all cables are in the bay pulled out from inside the car. all brake lines are done. just catching up on Mighty Car Mods videos

she is alive        i can not describe how rewarding this was  my first build and all is going well at the moment

front end should be finished today - brakes bleed etc  happy days

great updates looks good.

Very nice!

THANKS
now putting all back together

test drive today !!!  she starts without problems - had bit of noise coming out of the engine bay but it was only power steering pump ( ordered honda fluid as current one is not good enough :stuck_out_tongue: )
all seems to be alright - just clutch release bearing is bit noisy  is it because clutch and bearing are new and need few miles on them ?!

here is some pics from today

i think she looks super sexy on those wheels  i will polish the lip and paint them champ white

engine bay finished - few touch ups and getting in to sorting interior out

interior is done - just doing wheels and booking for mot for Friday :stuck_out_tongue:

I need to sort power steering leak tomorrow grrrrr…

wheels

more pics tomorrow - hopefully car will be ready

putting all back together - taking some time lol

inner plastic have been treated with swissvax mirage - in theory this should help keep car cleaner underneath - I hope mud and road shit will not stick as much

and brings blackness back to life  later i’m hoping to cover all plastic black panels with gtechniq stuff so for now swissvax it is :

wheels

first “smile” of the season

Very nice!! You have done a great job with my old baby. So pleased to see her back to her former glory so she can give someone years of enjoyment like I had with her. Can’t wait for some pics completely finished.

thanks man - it took some time but it is close to have her as i want  i’m driving a bit on back roads to make sure she is all ok. few issues but nothing major - on MOT today and if something is wrong i have weekend to sort it out. i will post pics after i will give her proper wash and polish

ok MOT done uffff - so she is legally on road from now on
new ball joints from CRX

and i have small issue with coolant temp gauge. engine will not keep right temp all the time so i changed temp sensor

and let her idle for 15min ( cooling fans switched on twice ) to get air out of the system and still the same

this is how all looks after 30min drive today :

when driving “hard” ( 4k-5k and vtec once in a while ) temperature will drop down to dead zero  temperature will not go above half - where it should be all the time so engine is not overheating at all. ive had coolant in reservoir but level it is down a bit - do i still have air in system ?! is it worth changing thermostat as well ?!

maybe worth mentioning that i do not have heating in car - i bypased that with hose :stuck_out_tongue:

this is how she looks - for now - all cleaning and sorting exterior out in next day or so

car have been on road for last 5/6 weeks - 4700 miles done
first service done - oil, oil filter and front discs and brakes  whole trip to Poland was great - only issues - rev clock was going crazy while driving and she was choking when accelerating. This happened twice - first time around Berlin and then in Poland. Changing ignition cables solved that issue
This days my speedo does not work which takes VTEC out of my life  Reason - speedo cable snapped  Grrrrr… Will fix this when I have bit time and energy

Did you get the coolant temperature stable? On mine car the temp gauge needle stays pretty stable once the car has warmed up.
Idle or driving, high or low rev, does not move much at all now.

no my temp gauge is still crazy  it will go to zero when driving hard  i need to source correct temp sensor - i ordered two for B16A1 CRX and both are not right  will go to Lings Honda to get speedo cable and sensor I think… I just want to have bit of a brake from it - I will drive it when needed ( DA6 is my 2nd car ) but I’m not getting my hands to fix those two things at the moment. i might take engine apart to go for all motor build over winter. time will show

few pics
no my temp gauge is still crazy  it will go to zero when driving hard …
That could just be a bad thermostat, unless you replace it already. They are designed to fail open, so maximum amount of coolant flowing through engine, because it is the better of the two design options. Fail open- engine gets too cold when driving, not good for the engine, but not catastrophic, either. If they failed closed, the engine would overhear VERY quickly, and seize up.

Basically when you are on the highway, the faster you go, the more air goes over the radiator. The coolant gets colder than at idle or on city streets, and fairly quickly. To maintain correct temperature, the thermostat should close down, slowing the flow of coolant through the engine. If it is old and not regulating the flow correctly, you see the engine temp drop as you go faster.

Nice paint job, btw. Mine is begging for one (LOL)
