DFW Monthly meet thread...

Well guys seems like the db2 won;t be done in time for the cruise this weekend. I was trying hard to get it done, but im two tires and a clutch short!

I will make an early showing this weekend. My friend’s having an art show at Jgilligans so ill have to squeeze it all in.

Any of youz bypass your clutch switch? for autostart or other? ive been debating whether or not to hack up the wires and just jumper it…cause i cannot access the interlockswitch itself, that focker is up there behind vents i believe. ideas?

well im out for today, the teg is down. see yall next time.

LATEST UPDATE: Pulled out my motor and found out that I bent the valves in the #1 cylinder and that there are metal shavings all inside the VTEC head. My time for LS/VTEC turbo is DEAD! I will have to source out for an LS long block and rid of all my turbo pieces (going back to n/a).
Though I have already purchased and received pistons, rods, bearings and block guard, I may put those pieces in the new motor. Since I have Hondata, more than likely I will rid of the obd1distributor and replace it with obd0, keep the 550cc injectors, have to buy a header and tune the DA as is. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated…

I got an obd0 vtec distro i’ll trade you for your obd1 vtec distro

My buddy might have a ls longblock that needs rebuild i can see if he still has it and how much he wants.

DaTegLover, thanks to the response. Please check on that for me from your friend. As far as the distributor goes, I forgot that I need to hold onto mine if I want to continue using Hondata (sorry).

big jim, call me on the turbo stuff. You know I want it… C
I’m up till ~10:30 every night. Give me a reasonable amount and we will talk.

Oh ya, we having a meet this weekend? Big jim, if you don’t have a ride, I can pick ya up. Though I will still need to leave early like normal.

sorry guys I haven’t been on in a long time. I have been working on fixing this lame Sebring up and sell it. It was free and figured if I put about 100 bucks into it, then it would be worth about 600 more. Meh, it’s an LXI and it’s got 220xxx on it and with a DSM motor running for that long. I have to keep it going. So I’ll try to get to the meet tomorrow, I’m guessing it’s at Taco Cabana again. I just need to find a way to get the gas. 4 bucks a gallon is killing me. Oh, and I finally dynoed my DA. Lets just say if feels like it is pulling a lot harder than it really is. I forgot that 140 FHP was like 105 WHP, but with the exhaust, I’m pulling 124 ft. lbs to the wheels. But then again it was a Mustang dyno and I hear that Mustang dynos read low so the dyno expert said to add 10% to my numbers and that was it. So about 116 with 137 ft lbs. I videoed it. So I might have it up soon.

Well today is the day, maybe?
italies to big jim, and I believe he said he couldn’t make it. Anyone else able to make it? I can, but am tired of it being just 2people.

I’m going to try. I’m hoping to go.

anyone here have a b18a1 for sale?

Hey Operator 207, I saw where you had called me last night. I was at work at the time that you called. Give me a call sometime this afternoon…

Operator207, I need you to bail me out on a problem I’m going through. Give me a call today if you have the chance!

…okay, a little too quiet here on the D/FW forum. I guess everybody jumped ship and bought a Kia Spectra to start a new meet. :bigread:WAKE UP 2ND GEN OWNERS OUT HERE IN the D/FW! Where you at! Roll call, DAMMIT! Lets get something rolling here.

…anyway, after two months without transportation, bumming rides, borrowing other peoples cars and walking for miles, my DA is finally fixed. Sunday night, I got my car out the shop with the built LS block and just rolled my first 100 miles so far.
The subject that I am bringing up is, what set of miles do any of you fellas suggest on me breaking the block in before going BALLS OUT? Some say a grand, others say 500. I’m not impatiant just yet, but I am sure tired of shifting at or under 4k rpm everytime.
Now to make me go nuts, the tuner I plan on going to, who happens to be one of the top tuners in the nation (macellarosperformancetuning.com) wants me to change the oil out of my engine at 500 and bring my DA to him to sit it on the dyno and tune it. But I have a core majority of know how mechanics that suggest 1000 miles before doing so.
I need my boost! I can here the turbo BEGGING me to step on it, then the blow off vavle laughing at my ass after shifts. What are the consequences in the long run to my motor if I listen to the tuner?

500 miles just isn;t enough… go with 1000 then do an oil change and put some GOOD OIL in that beast (Royal Purple or Amsoil).

And nobody bought a Kia… I feel so far removed right being in exile in Euless and my DA6 being in Grand Prairie… hell… my inspection expired a year ago on it :frowning:

I’m still around just not enough money to fund my car!

1000 miles is what i suggest man.

YIKES! Thats a long time…anyone else with suggestions? So far it looks as though I have 840 miles to go! I might need to visit my grandmother out of town this weekend to get to a grand! uhhh, the pain and suffering of little civics f@#kin’ with me and driving off…

I went 1500 on my Civic before using the “big cam”… I got tired of waiting, so I put 350 miles on it on a Saturday just so I could go to the 8Krpm redline…

I was dead after that day though… TIRED!

1k seems a bit much of your breaking it in, I would do 500, change the oil, then do another 500 change it again, and then go for it. If there is a lot of metal on there, you really do not want it running around for 1k miles before you change it. Its not going to hurt it if you change the oil 2 times. Your really letting it break in, then getting rid of the metal flakes right now.

Assuming no meet this month either?
