EF rack swap question

I’m in for a group buy when you get to turning down some bushings Dan.

So ive only been able to find this rack, but its listed as a power rack.
i cant seem to find anything. There arent too many pick-a-parts around here with many Hondas.

This is the right rack. Do a search for 88-91 CRX MANUAL rack.

The Si model uses a variable rate rack and that’s what you don’t want.

Awesome, thanks. I never even thought to check eBay. Looks like that’s where I’ll be shopping. The list just keeps getting longer and longer LOL.

Guru- what is the problem with the CRX Si rack? I heard that the lock-to-lock ratio is the lowest out of the EF racks; and that is what I have. Did you use the adjustment nut to see if that would get rid of the slop in the steering? I had a Civic Si and the steering was not sloppy at all. I am sure that the racks from the CRX and the Civic are the same, are they not? We will see when I swap out the rack. Yes, I have not swapped them out yet, I am lazy!! Actually I am prepping the manual rack so I have all new parts on it.

Nothing is wrong with the Si rack. I just didn’t like the feedback. Too “loose”. My rack was adjusted properly but maybe the bushings inside were bad. The HF rack is much better and I can add the Quaife quick rack which I am planning on doing.

any update on these bushings?

??

Shop lead time is 28 days. Now that my work won’t let the model shop work overtime (damn economy), regular projects get priority (go figure). I can machine a couple sets on my own for now.

Looks like ill be making a trip to portland when i decide ro delete my power steering.

well let me know im down for a set for sure.

Sign me up too! Guru

let me know when you get these made!!

Will do!

Here’s a rough rendering of the bushing:

Hey Guys, Still need the Bushing Width or length as it were. I’m not looking for the thickness.

These are the measurements I’m using.

Integra Rack Diameter (48.83mm)
CRX Rack Diameter (36.9mm)

So this aluminum bushing will be 11.9mm Thick with an inner diameter of 36.9mm and an outer diameter of 48.8mm. I’m about to submit an order to the shop, but I need the length and I don’t have the time to get under my car and measure right now.

very nice dan. Ill grab my micrometer on my way to work and give you a call with that tomarrow:up:

Anyone have the length of the bushing, not radially but along the rack from left to right.

How can you tell the diff between the hf and si rack? Im picking one up at a scrap yard and dont want to end up with the si rack because im using the qauife rack and pinion.

sorry got home that night, spaced out on this. ill try and not have a repeat of that tonight:)

Oh what is vss? and how would it affect my swap?
