Sorry to hear about that manifold…what a bummer. On the bright side I also got my manifold from go-autoworks. You can’t beat their quality/price. Excellent choice on the tires too.
Thanks. It is what it is. I never really liked that manifold anyway. The Go-Autowork one was what I originally wanted, but couldn’t afford at the time.
Shit happens. Can’t wait to use the tires lol
Got my manifold in last Friday and it’s AWESOME! They did an amazing job on it and it came out sick. First thing I did when I got it was set it on the photo table at my work and did a little product photoshoot lol

I bolted it up yesterday with the turbo and wastegate attached and it fits really well. The only thing is the turbo sits a bit higher and further away from the motor than the old manifold so now my downpipe doesn’t line up with the rest of the exhaust. It’s minor, no big deal. I expected to have to modify that because the manifold was slightly different. I jut cut the downpipe in half, I’m going to bolt up both halfs, and then see exactly what I need to add in the middle to make it fit. I will post photos when it’s all done and I get my valve cover and everything back from being powder coated. Hopefully it’ll be running again this weekend =]
Sooooo update finally!
Got all my stuff back from powder coat the other day and I think it came out amazing. Chris at Enigma did an awesome job and I couldn’t be happier with the color choice even though it doesn’t go with red at all lol.
Onto the photos
Cell phone video I took Friday night after I got it running again
It didn’t run very well when I first fired it up the other night. It sounded like it was on 2 cylinders. I checked all the basics and everything was fine. I then drained all the month old e85 out and put some fresh fuel in and it ran great. E85 is like a sponge and absorbs moisture so damn quick. Don’t ever let it sit for a long time and expect it to still be good.
As for the R888’s which I finally got to test out this weekend…they’re GREAT! I can finally turn the boost all the way up and still hook from a 40 roll. So nice to have good tires finally.
Car is officailly ready for TX2K. This is the first year I’m taking it down to Houston for this event and couldn’t be more excited >=]
Oh not sure I ever mentioned what the blue powder coat color was. It’s a 3 stage coat. There is a chrome base, a transparent blue, and then a matte clear coat. Gives it that shiny reflective yet matte look. I love how it came out
did you made the engine damper?
Yes. I used the shock from my old Mongoose bike
would you make 1 for sale?
what size are those r888? car is awesome! make me wanna rip the ac out of my db2 and turbo it now lol
Thanks, they’re 225/50/r16. Lol don’t do it man! I wish I still had my ac. It sucks in the summer without it. Too hot here in Texas. Glad this thing isn’t my daily or else it’s have to have ac
yea im here in el paso. but the car is also not my daily either lol… its gonna be a fuck with people on the street and track car… i spec’d out a turbo kit from go autoworks and it wasn’t a bad price only $2995!
swing by my thread like friday, should have some sweet updates
Holy crap I love this build. Also the anti lag on the wiper stock is a great idea.

Goautoworks makes some great stuff if your’e looking for a full kit. I’ll have to check it out man
Thanks. Yeah that antilag works great and really does make a big difference on the hit.
So update on the car. I took it down to Tx2k this passed weekend. Well I trailered it down with a tow dolly I got from uhaul…never doing that again. Pain in the butt to get on there and then my downpipe was resting on it. I took two tires off my db1 to drive it home on. As for how the car did, I got in some good runs. Won some, lost some. The car made it back in one piece and still running which is great. Only negative was my rear motor mount let go on me. I already ordered a new Hasport one with the stiffest bushing they make.
Only two photos I got of my car at 2k

The rest of the 2k photos, didn’t take all that many cause I was just busy out watching runs
Plan now for the car is maintance stuff that I’ve never done on it and stuff that I feel needs to be fixed finally. I’m replacing that rear mount, all new suspension bushings, front wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rods and getting a new traction bar cause the one I have has been nothing but a giant pos
would you make another engine damper?
I can make the brackets. I don’t have another shock though
is it possible to buy the shock from bike shop? or other places? you seem to be a very knowledge person making and fabricating things. if you could make 1 i will pay fair price for it.
thanks

Yes. You can buy them on ebay or amazon for $20 or $30. If you really want it I can try and get them made sometime next week. I’m running the stock driver side mount that I made solid, if you’ve got an aftermarket mount I’m not 100% the bracket will clear it.
i am running aftermarket mounts mad by AVID. you think you can make it work sir?
thanks

Probably. Sorry I haven’t gotten back to you. Been super busy the last couple weeks with work and school. Can you send me a photo of the mount on your car?
So I finally got around to ripping the car apart to replace all the bushings, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings all that good stuff. I NEVER want to do this again! :bang:
Long story short I’m having to buy a bunch more stuff than I did to begin with. Turns out my front driver lower control arm is messed up. The hole where the ball joint goes through is all wallowed out. Trying to find a brand new one of those that isn’t $400+ is near impossible (I refuse to use aluminum ones). I ended up bending the rear driver control arm trying to get the bushings out so I took the one off my db1 and hopefully I wont ruin it as well. I have yet to take the front one off the db1 to see if it’s in good enough shape to use. Anyway, the car should ride like new when it’s all said and done…I hope. If not then this is a giant waste of time, money, and effort.
Rear trailing arms off
Ball joints were trashed!
Also got the new rear motor mount installed the other night =] Installing that was surprisingly easy. Wasn’t fun, but was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be
Pic of the old mount which actually didn’t fail like I thought it did. The mount itself was still in one piece. What failed was the stuff I put in there to make it solid, which lasted 4 years.
Side by side comparison. Old vs Hasport
Installed
I will post more stuff as it gets done…or broken one of the two
big props to you man. it seems like every time you try to take things off to fix or put new parts you always find some things wrong. which is a good thing because you dont want things to break or give out when you are driving, specially with a boosted car. good luck with everything sir. i wish i am like you so i dont have to spend all that money at the mechanic. lol
I feel your pain on the suspension dude. I did the same work…it’s horrible and not fun mechanic work but totally worth it in the end. Keep the updates coming!
Nice work, I have to do the same thing to my rear trailing arms, I have a new set that’s just been staring at me lol. Good luck with the Suspension refresher and awesome build man.
