hey guys, well looks like i will be needing a half sized civic radiator after all… anyway i have a few questions.
do any of them bolt strait up, meaning fit in that litlte knub in the bottom? im not loooking for anythign custom really, i have enough of that going on.
will i be ok for cooling power?
is the civic and del sol radiator different. i just bought a brand new radiator a few months ago (dual core, long style) and its pissing me off that i dont get to use it, i thought of another idea.
what if i cut the core support forward an inch or so and lean the radiator to make a little bit more room for the turbo? i only need like a half inch or somethign (oh yea sure that doesnt sound like a lot, but any pictures or advice woudl be greatly appreciated…thanks and seeya
Sup dan, it’s funny that you posted this because I just finish installing a thin civic radiator into my teg. Let me just start by saying that this thing will bolt right up! No mods need it. You will only need some smaller brackets to tight up the radiator hoses to radiator because the civic’s inlet and outlet are smaller than the teg’s.
Here are some pix to kind of give you and idea what we did:
Here is my teg. Oh yeah, I have an LS/Vtec turbo’d so space is an issue. That’s why I thought to use the civic radiator.
Here is the civic radiator
Civic and teg
Civic with my teg’s AC fan. The civic fan was too big and was touching my turbo so I thought to use my AC fan
and here is the final product! More space yayyyyyyyy! hehehe
One thing though. It seems that the civic radiator is not holding so good. When I’m driving for a while and I step on it and the turbo starts spooling, it starts to over heat. Not that much but when the temp niddle passes the middle, I get nervous and I dont like that. So, I gotta see what I’m gonna do. If you guys have any other suggestions, let me know also.
My friend told me to use the thicker version of the half size civic radiator. It’s thicker so he said that it should hold. I also have a CRX full size radiator that is thin but it covers the whole thing like the teg. I might try that on to see if it holds up better.
I’m useing a 1g DSM BOV for now. All the pipes are custome made because I’m still using the eclipse SMIC. I got my FMIC last week so all the turbo pipes will be done and it would look much better.

I will be doing same thing to car…
I haven’t run with all these done. I will in the spring. I wanna get it dyno tuned before I run for numbers. All I can tell you that this bitch PULLS! I’m guessing I’ll run around 13 flat with 8 psi.
that ac fan doesn’t spin know where close to the tegs regular fan(cfm). Put on teg fan or get a thinner spal fan, that will diffenately cure your overheating problem

Thank you for that. I will try it this weekend. You see, I don’t wanna spend the money for a fluidyine radiator. If I can get away with the one I have now, why not use it. Now, If I really really need a fluidyine I guess I will have to get it. But I will try to use the stock teg fan to see if it works.
Well, today we took the civic radiator out and replaced it with a CRX full core radiator. It’s half as thick as the factory teg’s and it bolted right on!! No mods need it, just slide it in
Here are some pix:
Taking the Civic radiator off
Rex Radiator
All fans on. I only left the big fan on because the AC fan didn’t fit.
Final product!
I drove it for a while and it hold pretty good. I will keep you guys posted if it over heats or not
i am using a dual core DEL sol radiator, well mine fits kinda tight vertically speaking. the thing sits an low as it can on the cross member and it hits the hood when closed, so i had to do some altercations, over all i am boosted and the thing NEVER even overheats at all, i love it
That’s wierd, when I looked at the bottom of the radiators, I noticed that they were definitely different (Intagra vs Civic Half size double core) so it just fits right in there huh? Did anyone else have any problems with it being too tall? I’ve got two of them sitting around at my house. One used one that I got for free, and one brand new one (but it has plastic end tanks). I might just throw that Civic one in there before I put the turbo in.
I payed $70 for my brand new double core half slab, but it has plastic endtanks. I’ve got a metal one, but it has repair marks on it so I’m weary of using it. Also, the metal one has a very tall spout that I think would cause some issues with clearances.
