wow man, this is awesome. what are you going to do about the “trim” pieces on the bumpers? like the part that bumps out to match the lines of the moldings on the body?

How did you learn to paint? I want to paint mine this summer and I’ve been reading up on it, but I’m just not so sure if I’m comfortable with the idea yet.

looking good, you might want to get something to put around the cut so it dosent wear the fuel hose… that could be bad… keep up the good work
i shaved my gas door. I put the filler cap in the left corner of the hatch jamb. That was My tail light stay s there and i could still hide the filer tube behind the paneling, but it looks good, I cant wait to see it cleaned up!

i don’t think its going to once done ,i’m hopeing to get this spring loaded deal worked out and once its clicked into place it shouldn’t leak ,i say shouldent since you never know (shrugs) and if it does i’ll just double up on tailight foam or whatever its called haha

i’m not to sure i know which trim your talking about ? like the center peice that comes off the car ? it clears it without an issue imade sure before i welded anyhting haha ,unless i’m missing something …hope not since i’m so close to finishing it haha
i just bought some guns ,started with some syphon ones from like wallmart and moved upto gravity feed ones . its pretty easy once you play with them

yeah ive allready thought about that and have mde the hole bigger and rounded the edges ,thanks though i’m going to see if i can find a grommet that size ,but i doubt it haha so i’ll most likey just get that rubeer stuff to wrap it ,I want it air tight though so i don,t know haha

updates …yet another allnighter haha
i kinda wish i didn’t go cutting crazy because i spent hours re makeing the peices to cloase it all up haha oh well (shrugs)
and to show how much room there is ,i have large hands with size 14 fingers ,like all of them haha nah just kidding my pinky is 11 and my thumb it 16 or something haha and i can move around with lots of room ,so no one shouldn’"t have issues haha
and the door welded shut without filler ,I’m not happy with it though , i threw to much heat to one corner and warped it a bit and have a ton of pin holes .my freakin Hobart was being a pain ,well the tips i have are what i like to say alot junk haha
so i’ll go back and clean all that up once i finish up the pther stuff left to do on the fuel neck relocation:rockon:

this is how it should work witht he truning and what not and i allso extended the harness a bit
so the spirng should push it to the end and then the strut should take over from there and make it gp up . i’m sure it wont be that easy though haha

Extremely impressive restoration…when I first saw the rust I was like holy shit I’ve never seen one that bad…now yours is cleaner than mine! I love the fuel door shave, usually I am not feeling shavings but I think that is just awesome, it’s so different! I can’t wait to see the car done!!! :rockon:
I meant the molding type piece on the bumper.
It’s there to flow with the car when it has moldings. What are you going to do about that piece now that there are no moldings at all?

well it works …well sorta haha ,it comes out and goes up ,but not vertical
and acts funny when you close it
i had to use both springs and i think i still need half of another to get it pop out quick enough …
the strut is too strong ,like way to strong ! It freakin snaps up quick ! it comes up so fast that it tilts the light and puts alot of pressure on the base of the whole deal .So ive tried a few diffrent mounting loactions just on the rear bumper for now but stright up and down seems to work best ,but its allso the strongest .hhhhhhhmmmmm what to do what to do …crap lol i’ll get it i wonder if i cut the rear bumper and box it in …that a bit of work though and doesn’t mean it will work haha look at me just talking away hehe
i wonder how may times i have to push it in and out before it slows down haha it was the lowest size i could find too …

Now this is my idea…This is kind of a nightmare but anywho…connect the gas door button control the tail light, using whatever you guys all use for custom stuff now (actuators etc…) have it push out automatically from the driver side, so its still hidden in panels and then twist from the driver side up via actuator…this is a tough one, but now that I’m thinking it will be on my mind for a day or 2… There was a civic a long time ago in a mag that inspired my responses…
same response lol…use an actuator to push out, use magnets to keep her closed on the freeway and flip by hand?
