i swear i updated this yesterday .WTF !!!
anyways i painted the jambs and the roof is now green ,but then i relised i didn’t install the front coilovers ,so i stopped and did that (have to wait to tape the flames anyways)
well it didn’t go to well .first the sping compressors i used were the 2 claw kind and not just single .well they don’t fit well ont he integra springs and i had to angle them and hope they didn’t pop off .
Then my drivers side spring was broken in 2 spots makeing it a paint to remove (never seen that before)
So after a few hours of fighting the frontend i got them installed and will be working on the car somemmore today .
oh and sorry i don’t have pics mi can’t find my digi cam :mad: i had it yesterday but can’t seem to find where i placed it . I’m pretty sure its in my garage some where .
so yeah updates are coming . sorry for lack of them
ive been pretty bummed the last few days ,i had a family member F me over a bit with my fathers car that i plan on going crazy on .well he sold it behind my back and ive been hunting it down ,I found it though and now i have to pay to get it back :mad:
the car is a mid 70’s plymouth fury 2 door with a 360
my plans are too chop the top ,shave as much as i can tuck the bumpers
alot of fiberglass work inside ,(stereo mostly)
some 20’s you know a sunday cruiser .
here is a pic of it right when i found it 2 hours away (i wasnt to happy to see that there is now a dent in the 1/4 panel and they left the windows down )
oh and ripped the tired silver vynal top off .

yes i spray the cars in my garage .
here is a list of my tools
4 inch random orbital sander by Dewalt
4 inch pad sander by Dewalt
a bunch of 6 inch sanding pads for the drill along with sitcky backing paper
a few detail sanders one is made by black and decker and the other is just a no name one .
oh and a really old black and decker sander that still works great haha
2, 4 inch mastercraft grinders with a cutting on one and a grinding on the other
1 job mate haha grinder with a floppy disk on it
makita drill for sanding mostly witht he 3M sanding pad
various dremels with attachments
air tools
6 inch DA sander
4 inch jigger sander
Block sanders
durablock sanding kit
10 inch block
6 inch block
4 inch block
and a few curved ones that i don’t even use really .
and paper for them
3M 4 inch block sander
and this big fat one i found that is really for drywall work .But it kicks butt for bigger panels.
stainless filler spreaders (these kick butt ) you can buy them in a kit for about 10 bucks and you can’t beat them ,easy to work with and dont break down like the bondo ones that are that soft plastic rubber junk .

Sata something ,but i don’t use it much freaking pricey so i use my budget guns mostly
no name gravity feed guns 1 for base coat and clear and the other is for primer
1 gravity feed jamb gun which i love .with a 1.4 tip
2 smaller gravity feed guns for little things like fiberglass work and stuff
crap tastic air brush which i’m going to replace with a good one soon
2 syphon guns which i started off with ,one by cambell housfeild (spelling)
and the other is a no name
right now i only have a 8 gallon compressor by CH and most think that you need a big compressor for painting ,well you don’t with the gun tuned and compressor set i don’t have to wait much for the compressor to build up .
But i’m going to be upgradeing to a monster one for my impact ,air hammer and other various air tools .
as soon as i spray another car for someone i’ll most likely do it .
6 inch poilsher waxer that i’m going to upgrade to a mikita some day ,since random orbital doesn’t cut fast enough and take more time to complete

along with .025 wire
and a stick welder as well ,but i don’t use it for auto body haha
for media blasting i use a hand held one but am going to upgrade to a hopper style soon
i’m sure i’m missing a few things but you get the idea
ok now onto garage prep
sweep sweep sweep and alot of blowing the walls and ceailing
poly walls (plastic sheeting)and on the floor as well
2 box fans with filterspointed away from the car intot he other side on my garage
wet the floor down and allso a light mist on the walls
finally tack of the car and spray away
now you don’t need all these tools ,but it does make lifer easier .
you can get away with 2 paint guns the compressor ,2 sanders and and a few block sanders

I’ve had previous paint & prep work by spray can painting bicycles.
All bikes turned out quite professional looking like factory finishes or better.

well i found the digi cam but i dropped it and it wouldn’t work .Kept saying change batteries :thegame so i finally got it working by smacking it against the desk and wall ,but all my pics were toast :thegame WTF why ?
this one is of the car just after installing the front coilovers ,it sucks since you can’t see the green paint on the passenger side and i did most of the work after it . like sparying the top half of the jambs .I was going to do top and bottom at the same time ,but thought i was going to sray the whole roof .But there wasn’t any need too sicne flames are only on one side :shrug
those little dots are from somehting that was on my plyers :noway it would allmost be perfect if i noticed it . oh well a bit of glaze i guess
i allso got a damn flat tire on my welder stand :thegame
so i still havent painted the car ,why you ask ? i’m shaving a few more things haha might as well right .
my wleds look like shit .you wanna know why ? my freakin regulator soem how got turned allmost allt ehway off and i didn’t notice it .

I think it would be cool to use the tail lights that they allways use on lowrider trucks. I dont know were you would get them and ill look for a photo, but there really skinny and about 6 inchs long. I think those would look nice on the car. My $0.02. :rockon:
well if u did that would you be conecting the holle piece that covers the tail lights to the trunk or the splitter piece in the middle…do u get wat im sayin…

oh yeah i know the ones you talking about ,but i was going to have the outside lights be fake so i can just pop the cover off and pump the fuel .You know what i mean ? i dunno ,i don’t think i can sacrafice the cool flip up deal

no i would pretty much be making a patch to fill in the area where the tailights goes and then another for the top area to close it all in .The hatch would still open and close like it did before just there wouldn’t be a light there anymore .

I’m thinking about gettting some new tailights and headlights ,but i can’t get over allmost $300 shipped and then whatever custom charges id have to pay as well

hit the junkyards man for taillights and headlights, try something local, if not at least in Canada. I’m pretty sure you can find something for cheaper.
its looking good so far,But i have to admit, i think your procedure is all out of order! I dont understand why your painting parts of it while your still doing bodywork in other parts… If i were you i would finsih all the bodywork, prime everything, sand primer, paint everything! That way your not taking the risk of messin up your painted surfaces… It will stay a lot cleaner too. Just my .02 but it is looking good!
oh yeah, i dont think its ricer already. Maybe the flames, but they can be tastefully done. Shaved parts= clean. clean= opposite of rice! keep it up
if you want to put in new taillights, might i suggest the Honda S2000. i think it would fit/look nice on the rear of a DA. :rockon:

yes thats how ive allways done it . I don’t know why i did it this way this time haha oh well ,the way it was going with the progress i should have had the car painted with in a week or so of the other parts .But things came up ,i redid some stuff ,shaved more ,yeah i don’t know haha oh well i have alot of room and i only throw the painted stuff on for pics.

So ive sanded and blocked the rear panel ,i had a few imperfections so ive filled once again and will finish it up tomorow
ive been pretty busy as of late with other stuff ,which sucks but what you gonna do (shrugs) Shouldn’t be too long now .But ive been saying that for a few weeks now haha soooo yeah ,it will get done.
