I got 2grand, i want to go turbo but not shure if 2 grand is enough? I already got the ignition done, and also got the fuel system done, but need the long list of turbo parts to go. Should i just go ls-vtech? Im tired of driving a stock b18a1.
why not just do a motor swap ? or put that 2 grand into your b18a ?

and i wouldnt go ls vtec because its usually VERY pricey. and the only swap you’re gonna get for 2 grand is a b16…which is useless compared to the b18. the b18 has a lot more potential. and if you want a reliable turbo for 2 grand you’re gonna have to piece it together yourself.
i’d get a garret turbo, tial wastegate, some of the other must haves. and do all the piping yourself. that should cut down the cost quite a bit
A shop told me $1800 dollars out the door for vtec. That includes a b16 head skunk2 manifold, arp head bolts, eagle vtec kit, and used dc header. Is that a good price?
sorry that also inludes the vtec ecu.
check the for sale forum. there all kinds of turbo kits availible for that amount of money.
I would hate for something to go wrong. I read forums of people losing out on a couple of hundred, I dont want to lose a couple of thousand.

head - 350
ecu - 100
gaskets/oil lines - 150
tap and machine head - 100
1800-700 = 1100 in labor… bring it by anytime.
or buy a b18c1 for 1000ish then blox intake manifold(200), fuel rail(100), inline fuel filter(40) and stainless braided fuel line(60). not that the rail and line would give you more power but they clean things up in the bay. street tuning will probably be another 200-250.
so full b18c1 running super well should be about 2000 with a short geared cable tranny.:run:

i have heard of people getting full b18c and h22 swaps for 1000-1500 from a junkyard. most junkyards have a pretty set price for the cost of a swap.
What would a ls vtec DA run in the 1/4 mile?
1000 bucks for a gsr motor is a damn good deal a junk yard around here charges about 2500 for a complete long block, i have a buddy who sold a gsr motor for 1500 complete -trans.
i would love to know where to get a gsr for a grand thats legit, i would buy a few just to have.
i dont think u can in cali, but around here if you are a shop just call around and ask their prices, then call around again asking if they can beat the lowest price…
Turbo,header,injectors, intercooler, piping, chipped ecu.
14b from a DSM, injectors from a DSM, whatever header you find, intercooler from a starion or srt-4 or turbo dodge ect. Custom piping and find someone to chip your ECU. Several tegs in my area running this same setup from around 6-8psi and all run low 14’s high 13’s.
I would go that route Terrible Teg but i really need my car to be reliable, its my only car.
I dont see the problem with that setup. Turbo or LS/VTEC you can do it with 2grand. It’s just what kind of deals you get and planning.
u want your car to be reliable and u want to do a ls-vtec without rods or pistons? i dont see how this is more reliable than a turbo setup.
