Idle Air Control Valve Replacements?

Ive been looking to source a new IACV for my DB1, and having 0 luck finding any of the 2 OEM options (36450-PM6-A01 or 36450-PP4-E01). Is there any known aftermarket part that is known to work well? or someone who knows who i can contact to get my hands on an OEM one? Any advice would be very apprciated.

[Before anyone asks, i did indeed take it off and cleaned it following the guide. It did not work]

Wow I have not ever seen the cleaning NOT work. I’m wondering if something else is the issue. What symptoms are you experiencing?

Its an inconsistent idle, itll idle at 1k sometimes, 750 sometimes, and occasionally itll drop super low 450-500~

I did end up finding a NOS idle air control and it helped alot but its still a problem

Does it occur all the time, or just when the engine is cold?

All the time, just somewhat less frequently when warm

Have you recently replaced:

  • Spark plug wires
  • Spark plugs
  • Ignition coil
  • Ignitor

What about vacuum hose breaks?

Does the car EVER give trouble to start? Especially after running for a while?

Wires & plugs replaced 2 months ago with ngk wires & ngk copper plugs. Ignitor & coil replaced last month when i rebuilt distributor. Both saw improvement but issues remained.

Vacuum lines were replaced with silicon ones by original owners grandson. I havent touched them personally, but were done in that last 5 years.

One out of every 10 or so times i go to work, it takes longer to start, but still starts. Was the same before i put in a new starter when the original finally failed

Oh man you’re still dealing with this? (Ref: post in “What are you doing this week”) Okay I follow now.

Can you post a video of what it’s doing?

Ill see when i can. Im just really tired of the rough idle. Its the only issue my car has and its driving my nuts. Ill do anything at this point for a smooth consistent idle

This just popped in my head: I remember this could also be a symptom of leaky fuel injectors, but it was rare. Have you tried running a fuel injector cleaner? I’ve been using Gumout Regane. I was a proponent of Lucas upper cylinder lubricant but recent reports from people have suggested it doesn’t do anything. :person_shrugging: It could be a cheap test.

How many miles does the engine have?

I did new oem injectors 10k miles ago

128,545

That’s a baby. What year is the car?

I’m wondering now if it’s that resistor pack issue that I had on my 91, because it did exhibit weird idle before hardcore failed. But I don’t know whether that was the actual issue.

BTW, I also had a rough idle issue when my head gasket was on its way out. Have you checked your coolant lately for signs of oil? Mine was very obvious though via a WET sparkplug.

Mine is a '91. I deleted the resistor box and used oem obd1 injectors. The originals were beyond saving

Last time i did my spark plugs, cylinder 3s plug was a little oily and i have to check my coolant.

Aight. We’re covering a lot. I’ll see whether your video jarrs any memories.

Of course, ill hopefully be able to get that done quick

You’re reminding me that I really need to look into that digidizzy system (as much as I hate removing mechanical products for computers). I have the feeling that it solves problems such as this.

They work great. Ive personally spoken to the guy who makes them. At the moment it only supports the obd 1 & 2 cars with obd0 support not on the horizon.

I thought I read that the conversion to OBD1 wasn’t too difficult, so you could end up using it.
