No real updates lately… But a friend wanted me to send him a clip of how the exhaust sounds… So I figured I’d upload it for you guys here to see. Nothing major, but I think it sounds good… Opinions?

Thanks man, I like it as well… My brother actually wants to get a nicer sounding exhaust on his car now, after hearing mine. He has that notoriously raspy sound going on with his civic and he now realizes that it doesnt have to sound like that
I dunno, something sounds weird there man…you’d better send me your cat so I can check it out.
ha ha. How many miles have you got on that baby now? Do you think that sound is going to change much?
Rofl. I think I just barely turned over 90miles on it. I really dont expect the tone to change much, if any.
I really like the sound it makes, though its hard to get used to in a sense of being used to louder systems, its almost too quiet
My only long term personal experience with a new aftermarket exhaust was a friend who bought a Pacesetter as a cheap alternative to going to the muffler shop (this was before ebay, you young whipper-snapper) and it mellowed out considerably after a few hundred miles. Although it did have some kind of weird baffles cut in the tip – it sounded like angry hornets when he first bought it and mellowed to just sounding like a leaky exhaust (which was an improvement). He eventually got fed up and replaced that tip with some run of the mill dual pencil tips so it did eventually sound not terrible but the sound did change quite a bit as it got all sooty inside.
True… I see your point. If it changes, it changes, I guess there isnt too much I can do to stop it.
The main thing I like about it being quiet is avoiding the cops in this area and drawing less attention to myself. But that vid is just a little preview of what you have to look forward to
diggin the build so far and even more the color. whats the name of the paint? dont know if you mentioned it but i just kind of skimmed through. i almost thought it was horzion gray for a moment. noiceee !
The original paint is indeed Horizon Grey. But the previous owner had it Maaco’d a more blue’ish-grey color. In comparison HG has a more purple hue to it. I actually liked the Maaco color, so I had my local paint supplier match said color and I went with that. So in essence its a custom color.
This is a re-posted pic from page 1, but you can see the difference between my Maaco color, and the more purple tone of HG next to it.
Haha its not so bad man. You could be in my shoes and wonder everytime you look at your teg why in the hell you took it apart. LOL!
The one thing that has been neglected thus far is the interior… while it is in good original shape, it would be nice to have some newer/better seats, carpet, floormats, etc etc… Will it ever be finished?? Hah.
Not gonna post a full update as I want to have a bit more progress to post, but… I did manage to get the rest of my pieces painted, as well as re-painting the bumpers to color-match the bumper moldings.
Sorry for the huge pics, uploaded them from my phone and didn’t resize them.
A full update will come in the next week or two when I have time to start assembling stuff.
Edit Forgot to mention that there was apparently something on the lense of my cameraphone so, not only are they cell-quality, there is a spec of dust that makes it look like there is something on the bumper, which I assure you isn’t the case.
Damn that looks fantastic love the color. We may have to talk about dropping my car off at your place when I come up with the funds if you do sidework of course. You’re just one state over!
Anyways, you knock these as not updates but I would argue painting ones car is pretty huge. Paint is the next large thing that will be done on my car.
Of course we do side work… right now is actually the time of the season where we turn away most cars and concentrate on the fiberglass repair, as it pays a ton more lol. But we would always make an exception for the CO crew What color are you thinking anyway?
Thanks for the kind words man… I’m really getting anxious to finish it.
I got antsy and took a quick photo of the test-fit. The lights/tail panel/bumper are only held on by one nut, and the trunk is opened… but as I said, I got antsy! I love the look of the matched molding of the bumper.
Another small update… I got bored last night as there was nothing good on TV, so I decided to set-up shop in the garage and do something useful.
Slight background; The previous owner of my one-pieces decided it was best to remove the yellow capsules from the fogs. This is unacceptable. But anyone who has messed with these lights knows, replacing the capsule is a bitch… Naturally I had to jump right in!
I had already opened the lights and swapped in my usdm Legend capsules a couple weeks ago, so last nights job only consisted of sealing them back up.
I found some 3M Strip-Caulk in the garage that my brother bought years ago… after a quick search, it is indeed a butyl-tape. Score! I opened the box and, sure enough, the stuff was still tacky. ALL of the old butyl tape was removed so I was ready to lay in all new stuff.
Once I felt that there was enough new tape installed, I took the heat gun and got the seam nice and toasty… the tape was very sticky now… Perfect! I squoze the lense on, put the side-screw in… then began to put the metal retaining clips on. The first light was nearly perfect, the second light was messy in a few areas. No biggie, I’ll clean the seam before install.
All in all it took maybe an hour and a half? I was taking my time as to ensure a good seal and no leaks. I feel very confident that they’re good.
Onto the pics!
Things are slowly coming together… id hope to have everything installed and body panels aligned by the end of the month. It just depends on if I can keep motivated lol. Meh!
that’s the same stuff i used. works great. haven’t had a drip of condensation in there.
i think the main reason people have problems resealing is that they don’t bother to remove all the old sealant. good on ya. i know it was painstaking for me to pick all the old stuff out
