Damn snow.

Some recent ones

Somewhere between Glennallen, AK and Anchorage, AK.

This one I actually could have made $300 on, but I don’t have a business license and that’s the only way they can pay me.
Oh well, at least I didn’t have to be in it and got to keep my jacket on.

And here are a few from fall that I just got around to.

Just outside of Valdez.

Worthington Glacier. I got to do some training with the 10th Special Forces Group on it. very fun.

Did you do any sharpening in the first 2 or is your lens really that good? Sigma right?

very nice Jay!

your kids are getting huge!

Here’s a few i took

Yeah it’s the sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5. It’s a fantastic lens, especially for the price.

I sharpened it a little in post processing and then again after I resized it.

Here’s two I just took for ya, straight out of the camera except for resizing. no sharpening or anything. All the shot info is in the EXIF.

my neighbors stupid dog.

And here’s the same two after some PP. My settings change all the time and are dependent on the type of picture, but for the most part this is what I’ve been doing lately. Mainly I add some Contrast and Len Vignetting.

nice, i’m still saving up for the 24-70. After using the canon I started to appreciate the 2.8-all-the-way…

Yeah, 2.8 can be nice. especially in low light.

In case you missed the edit, I added the Post Processed image to my post above.

Cool, post processing makes a huge difference. I’m trying to learn new techniques all the time. I finally started to switch from PSP to PS and LR.
Took me a while but I’m happy I did.

I still use PSP for a lot of stuff, but I mainly use LR now. I have PS CS4 Extended, but I don’t even use it for photo editing. LR does everything I need.

LR2 rocks.
I still use PS7 for the other stuff though.
Nice pics as always J.
I recently picked up the 17-55 2.8 IS and i LOVE it.

Still learning.

got back from Mammoth tonight! so much fun. I’m still noob but i got a lot better than last year for sure… went on my first :diamonds::diamonds: today. Scary as hell and it took me forever to get down. i basically just took one turn at a time. its so steep going horizontal on the slope still gets you a good amount of speed.

all following pics have been taken with a Rebel XT + 18-55mm kit lens.
avalanche chutes

besides that, here are some pics i took… and i found out just how shizzy AI SERVO is on the Rebel XT.

first shot with my new 5D

cutie! she’s getting big man.
Again, a lot of you guys have some really great talent.

I asked this question earlier in the thread but it was 5 months ago (I’m curious if anything has changed since then). I have $200 to spend. I’m looking for a good point and shoot camera that is highly portable and has extremely little lag between the time you press the “shutter” button and when the camera takes the picture.

Suggestions?
I have a Sony DSC-W50 that works awesome as a P&S, takes awesome pics, is pretty fast at 6mp, and does great macro and burst (multi-shot) modes. You can pick em up used for about $40-$50. The only place it really shows it’s weakness is in the low light conditions, also you can not control shutter speeds at all. It’s really basic and easy to use, but it’s one of the best P&S cameras I’ve ever owned, which is why I’ll continue to carry it.

Here are 2 I took with it. I just stepped up to a Nikon D40X, which should be here Monday according to UPS. It was only $400 refurbished from nikon. The D40X is a D40 frame with the 10.2megapixel sensor from the D60. Pretty nice camera for all around work.

15 pictures stitched together

It’s almost Schu sized

That turned out great. Good job.

dude, make it smaller. i can’t see what’s going on!
