PICS 12k 10K Apex

Is it because you were too low ? I still want this coilover !!!

has nothing to do with being to low
I had them ajusted with full pre load.
In other words you don’t lower the car with the spring
it’s all done via the lower strut mount.

love your photography work!!

OK a little update
My new replacement rear strut is on route.

So far to date I’ve had to replace the Right Rear strut twice and both rear top hat bushings.
The fronts which revive the most punishment are fine

Keep in mind this is a daily driver. She sees a ton of miles
in the past year I’ve clocked almost 50,000 kms

Hmm, thats strange. I’d chock up needing new struts to a fluke, or maybe bad quality control. Doesn’t make sense that one corner would go bad twice while all others are fine.

The bushing thing though I see as a pretty serious weakness. Sure, it’s not going to cause problems and it’s easy enough to fix… but how hard is it to get a good bushing? What’s causing them to go bad? I’ve had ES bushings on my DA for 5yrs of daily driving (approx 15-20k miles per year) and they’re still just fine. The car has been pretty much sitting since then (past 4yrs) but I don’t see any need to replace 'em yet.

Replacement shock will be here next week.
It’s been at least two months since I made the original call.
meanwhile the shock on the car has failed hard

any updates ? my tein ss coilover are sagging in the rear. dont want to get new springs. will just get some pic coilover.

Wow
I’m still waiting for my replacement shock.
not sure what’s happened but I’m getting the dis from someone.
So to date
I’ve blown two shocks in one year over a 30-40 thousand km period.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr buy konis .

Really you didn’t get them yet ! do you know anyone else that has PIC coilover that have the same problem ?

I emailed PIC about this problem as well as i wanted these coilovers on my car and this was their response:

Hello Robert,

His replacement went out yesterday, to Teknotik as they’ll be handling the exchange.

They have always been quick with responding to me and i haven’t given them a dime yet. i hope everything works out for you.

yup strut has arrived, I’ll pick it up on Monday
no idea why I had to wait this long.
the other three struts are fine.
just the passenger rear.
I’ll keep this tread going

strut is on and is working well. fingers crossed.
The old one was leaking. while compressing the strut it made weird sounds.
One good point was it all came apart with little drama.
I used anti seize which I highly recommend.
Cheers

Well after a year of bad service and now three blow struts I’m out.
Despite my early review of these being a good product I’m finished.
these PIC’s are absolute $#@&^% garbage.
I’ll be ordering a set of Koni’s at the end of the month.
for the extra money up front it would have saved me hundreds.
nothing but problems
junk junk junk.
$#%@
Sorry but I’m quite pissed
I should have followed my better judgement on this.

how much are they going for sorry if ya said already
i like them alot looks quality and yes the science is in the damping

I paid $1000 for them
Buy some Konis for the same price.

Wow thats kind of surprising to me. I’ve had my PIC selects for over 2 years now and I haven’t had any problems yet. I stopped driving my car daily about 1.5 years ago though, but I have put about 13 road racing track days on them with about uhhh 3 spin outs and they are still holding up.

OK after a 5 month wait my replacement rear struts have arrived.
I also received FULL LENGTH BOOTS!!!. After a close inspection I realized the original mini dust boots
weren’t up to the task. After pulling them off I realized they were actually holding road dirt and sand
which in turn was killing the seal. They only cover a small portion of the strut rod leaving it exposed to the elements. Bad design.
Funny I’ve blown 4 rear shocks but the original fronts are still perfect. This is due to the dust boot design.

So if you daily your car and drive it through the winter make sure you have full length dust boots …

So are you saying that PICS are ok just make sure the dust boots are correct or if you had it do all over again you would go a different route? I am going to be updating to coil over setup in the near future so I am looking for options.

When working the PICs are a great setup. I’m upset with the slow customer service and it also sucks that you have to buy extra parts to
address problems, PIC also doesn’t rebuild them.
I will admit my car sees a lot of miles but I was having issues with in the first few weeks.
Full length dust boots are a must for any car in Canada or a car which sees it’s share of sand, and dirt …
race tracks are very controlled environments which don’t really deliver the full test of a suspension.
My other car is a 85 CRX si with a B16A swap I’ve had a set of koni’s in this car for over 4 years with zero issues. and the car (stored during winters)
sees the same daily road environments as my DA.
Keep in mind Companies like Koni, Bilstein and Tokico have been making OEM applications for Cars for years these are reputable companies.
I guess I wish I had gone with a more proven company…next time.

Wow, thats a really clean first gen crx!
