OK…I have a question…I don’t have an intake pipe…all I have is a filter…what do I do then??? I have also heard of eliminating the valve inside the PVC valve…does this hurt the rings or what??? I am still kinda confused…I have the same exact can though and would like to figure the best way in doing this…BTW this should be in the archives or something…
remote oil filter base http://bakerprecision.com/filtmnt.htm determin where you’re going to mount the filter base then choose the base with the ports that point in the right direction.
big fat oil filter http://bakerprecision.com/wix1.htm I’ve seen WIX filters on everything from Bergenholtzes car to NASCARs…that means there good right?

you should do what ever you need to do to use a filter.
removing the valve from inside the PCV valve and still keep it hooked up would put presurized intake charge into the crank case and that would be bad. It would be worse than just disconnecting the PCV system. Yes it would hurt the rings.
Mr. Haberdasher sir, did you notice a bit of smoothness in power with that PCV system? I would imagine it would help alot. Just curious. By the way, you’ve inspired me to build a similar system. You da man!

ya, it’s not cheap, but in the long run it will save you on a engine rebuild. Hot oil is very rough on an engine. I think it’s one of the leading causes of engine failure amoung enthusiats because they just don’t know what kind of oil temps they’re running.

I didn’t have anything to compare it to. I reworked the PCV system when the turbo went in so I don’t know what it would’ve been like if I didn’t have it. I can tell you that it works pretty well. I have to empty out that catch can every once in a while so it is capturing some junk…it would also be a good idea to put in some more baffeling inside the can…perhaps a project I’ll tackle in the coming weeks…

*** I used a Setrab oil cooler and those aren’t cheap so I’d say the total price for the whole project would be closer to $400
hey xenocron, the shop that’s doing my engine told me to remove the black box put in the plug for z10 and open the port that’s next to it and run a hose there. is that what u mean i should do if i remove the box?
That is funny that you have a WIX filter from a Mustang… I took a tour of their factory here for a business trip - they stand behind their filter technology, they do a good job.
