that’s what i have on my car, i wish everyone would just get a high flow cat if you don’t want to use the stock cat, that’s why people always look at honda and think rice because it sounds like CRAP[/QUOTE]
Like I said. I woulda left it on, but my car came without…
I have a Carsound (magnaflow) high flow cat and the only problem I experienced with the bolt on was that the holes for the spring bolts was not big enough and I had to cut 1 spring in half and use the 2 pieces, 1 on each bolt. Other than that, everything is all good.
HKS without a cat is LOUD and it is very ricey sounding outside the car… Inside the car it sounds nice and deep, but if you have a friend do a drive by you’ll hear the car from 2 blocks away and it sounds like 10,000 bees in a metal can. I’ve owned 2 of them on my last 2 DA, and once I heard what it sounded like outside the car, I put my cat back on lol
It is indeed loud as hell but I have heard it outside and inside the car and it does not sound like a can of bees… It’s not deep but it’s also not buzzy. Sounds like a throatier sportbike. I would get some sound clips but the car is stuck right now at my dad’s house with a broken transmission.
Eh… My gf’s family are rednecks and I got the nickname BUZZ after I took my cat off in exchange for a test pipe… Personally, I didn’t mind the noise but the vast majority of other motorists and ALL cops will hate it, and they will hear it coming… I lived on a long road and my gf could hear me at a light that was over 3 blocks from my house when I was leaving lol… It’s LOUD, and with the cat in place it’s easily 2 or 3 times quieter, plus no test pipe rotten egg smell
I had a DC 4-21 and then the Hi Power exhaust no cat and I never got a rotten egg smell. The exhaust was a little sootier, but that was it. There’s always going to be someone who doesn’t like your exhaust, and it’s usually rednecks. I never had trouble from cops even though it was loud… Anyway, it’s one of the best sounding exhausts for a DA. These are buzzy exhausts: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4500293604760118294&q=team+integra&ei=BLkTSMyvF4jwqQPYmNzHBA&hl=en
I personally have an hks hipower on my 93, and my cat is clogged and I really want to get another test pipe. I personally like it, but most of my friends and the cops hate it… If you don’t notice that smell that’s weird, because it’s very easy to smell it and that’s true on 90% of cars without cats… Oh well. If MN cops weren’t such haters I’d get a test pipe… You actually notice the hp gains when you use one over a cat, at least I do
Yeah I know the smell you are talking about, a friend of mine had a Porsche with straight pipes and that thing smelled terrible. But my car never smelled like that, I don’t know why. Anyways, you’re not going to find a better sounding canister muffler in my opinion for a DA than the HKS, if you can get past how loud it is. It might be the header that tones down the exhaust a bit and keeps it from being too buzzy, I don’t know. I really want to get a sound clip now, although I don’t have a camera that can do it accurately.
I personally agree with you Sam… I liked the sound of my old exmag a LOT, but hated the look of it… Ugly as shit… I like how the hks looks more on the dc Integra, but for us g2 guys the hipower is far and away the best exhaust you can get… I’m worried about rust though since I’m in MN… Did you experience any rust Sam? The piping is some kinda black painted metal, and I’m worried it’ll rust out…
Yeah that’s the shitty part is that it’s not stainless all the way, I had to refinish it a while back because everywhere that rocks had nicked the paint off was rusting. It is painted mild steel. Don’t get me wrong it is still quality built, and the paint is pretty tough on that piping. I had it on my car for two years before I started to see issues with it, which were easy to take care of. It’s really made for the track and not road use anyway, and I am positive that the Hi-Power is well engineered for performance.
Just make sure to keep it sealed and clean and you should be all right. Spray the hose up there when you wash the car, that will help a lot. Luckily they don’t use salt on the roads here…
I love my HKS hi-power. I am as well running no cat (hollowed out stock one). It is VERY loud, inside and outside the car. I am no longer driving the DA as a daily, but once I get it back on the ground in a couple days, I’ll try and get a sound clip for everyone.
But for now…
