anyone know anything about the sound of the MONZA Performance Exhaust Systems that are on e0bay for 250 bucks ? They are made by pacesetter…
HAD A 91 WITH DC 4-2-1 HEADER FLOWMASTER HIGH FLOW CAT AND A TENZO TYPE 2 EXHAUST AND IT SOUNDED EXCELLENT BUT IT WAS 123db AND POLICE LOVED IT TOO… THEY LOVED IT SO MUCH THEY TOOK MY LICENSE FOR 2 1/2 YRS… I SAY A 10 BUT IF YOUR GOING FOR QUIETER EXHAUSTS LOOK INTO GREDDY EVO OR SOMETHING…
I Also Was Running 2 7/8" Piping So It Was Extremely Loud… Port And Polished Head And Intake Manifold Cams And Camshafts
Had a Thermal catback on my 92 GSR and LOVED it. I’m not one for exhausts but this one sounded great. Not too loud, nice tone, looked good. 10/10 IMO.
i have a rsr gt2 cat back with a 10 inch resonator welded in behind the cat. Stock cat and header sounds freakn awesome.

Hey, first of all thanks for all the good info. Second, I would like to warn everyone not to get anything with the letters OBX on it. I got a 90 teg with a custom 3" exaust and an OBX muffler and it is loud. It sets off car alarms and actually makes my CD player skip when I rev my engine. I need to make it quieter before the local cops get any more familiar with me. Do you think a resonator will do the trick or is a new system in order. If so, what would you recommend on a tight budget? Thanks. Oh yeah, the OBX is probably a loud 10 with a nice leafblower tone to it that gets me hatemail from my neighborhood.
any N1/canister style muffler will be loud.
A resonator will help, but probably not enough.
read above i got one of the loudest exhaust systems rsrgt2 straight pipe shit cannister, anyway a resonator will help just get a long one above 10 inches. maybe 2 of them, long ones cancel out highs and short ones do lows, i may have that mixed up but that’ll do the trick. also make sure to weld everytthing then spray the welds with flat black spray paint every so often to keep it from rusting nothing worse then a leaky exhaust system IMO> hope tha helps
I didn’t make it thru all the posts, but was wondering if anyone has tried one of those twin-loop mufflers? Supposedly they are free-flow mufflers that run the exhaust twice thru the muffler to absorb more sound without sacrificing performance. I believe the S2000 uses this type muffler, but don’t know if they will physically fit under our tegs.
Type One is awesome man…AFTER VTEC comes in sounds like the motor is louder than the exhaust…
Here’s a pic of my exhaust.
HKS Sport
It was VERY quiet when i bought the car with it, but was re-assured the exhaust isnt stock afew times, by the thick 3" pipeing, thinner looking muffler, weird tips and once i changed the cat on the car, this thing sings just right, not to loud and not to quiet, its the ultimate sleeper exhaust too
thats just the tips to the HKS sport. someone probably made a custom cat-back and just used the tips of that exhaust. sorry buddy.
i was going to say the same thing but wasnt positively sure.
yeah, sorry thats not an hks sport. i just picked one up this past saturday.
BGdubs92b17 did your hks come with the extra extension for the section of the tips? mine did and the tips stick out flush with the farthest point of the bumper, maybe i should take off that extension so it is flush with the cut section of the bumper. what paint did you use to paint yours?
i can confirm its not a hks sports
the tip is welded on
and the bpipe/spipe is custom
the muffler is just painted black so i assume its one of the stock looking ones with no sound midas type ones
sorry dude
yeah the hks sport is ceramic coated, so it has the color like dc ceramic headers. i’ll take a pic of mine when i get home later today.
no i never got an extension if there is one, It’s ok i think it looks good sitting under the cutout
for paint i used Duplicolor Engine Enamel primer gray and then i used Rust-Oleum proffesional enamel flat black. Its holding up great, i though maybe the rust-oleum wouldn’t work cause of the heat but it still looks perfect
While we’re on the subject of HKS… I just bought an HKS Hi-Power muffler, and since i’m kind of a noob, i was wondering what kind of cat and resonator setup i should go with. I was talkin’ to a friend, and he said i could get a muffler shop to bend me up a pretty decent custom exhaust if I had a muffler. I opted to not get the full catback because it’s cheaper this way. So, should I buy my own cat, or will they do that for me? I don’t want a crapy rice job done to it and, I still want to get the slanted muffler look, so what do I tell them to do?
Alright guys, I need some help. Does anyone know if their is an exhaust that would sound very similar to a 350z or g35 coupe exhaust? I just wanted to ask this question.
