:werd: to reviving the DA!!! Please get some better tires
Wow, i just read your post. Im happy your getting your car back, especially that its going to be better than before. I guess good can always come out of something bad. haha
Thats like when I crashed my frontend into a chevy silvarado, I got another 1-piece headlight for free, replaced the fender and it also motivated me to buy my cf hood, which was a good thing! =]]
You cant get that 1 rim fixed?
Or it would cost more than just buying 1 rim?
-Karlo
glad to hear good news that it’s repairable. The pics didn’t look like it was totaled in the first place. Should look great with a fresh coat of paint.
now comes the trouble of deciding whether i should color match the moldings, or leave them black.
i doubt the rim is repairable. the cracked spoke not withstanding, the other spoke that is missing a big piece of meat is beyond repair. fortunately, ONE rim isn’t too expensive. especially if i get it without a tire (don’t need tires seeing as the BF Goodrich tires are brand new.

Your going to have to buy a rim. If its cracked its not repairable. Well unless you wanna weld the inside and outside of the rim which will look like shit for sure.
oh i know i’m going to have to get another rim.
Edge Racing is selling the rims (same size etc.) for $189 apiece with no tire. so i believe i can handle that i’ll just have to go through the pains of stripping it and painting it to match the rest of the wheels again. that process was a pain in the ass, and was very time consuming.
leave them black:rockon:
glad to see you’ll be stickin around man.
Holy shit man, I just read this whole thread,
Good to here you going to breath new life, back into her:up:
Those pics hurt, but I have faith you will bring it back to life can’t wait to see it back on the road. Good luck with everything!
thanks Angela, and everyone else.
today, I received an estimate on how much it’ll cost to repair.
$3116.69, ouch.
so AIG is likely going to total the car, but the body shop says it is easily repairable, its just going to cost a lot in labor etc.
there is precisely ZERO frame damage (by frame, i mean unibody) so the majority of the damage is purely cosmetic.
so when the total the car, i’ll just buy it back, and take the money they give me for the car and have it painted. i’ll do the mechanical work myself (physically replacing the fender and any suspension/steering parts that were damaged) and have the body shop pull the small dents, then paint the car
if all goes well, i should still have a few dollars to spare.
:tsk:
as expected, they totaled the car. but i’m still going to fix it. i’m getting f’d pretty hard in the deal though.
they booked the cars value at $1500, so after all is said and done, i’m only walking away with $700
Hell or high-water, i’m putting it back together. i have a fender etc. on lock down, so i’m just going to have to go more out of pocket than i would have liked to get it painted.
probably going to take a lot longer too, since money is a little tight at the moment, but the damn thing will live again. I’ve invested far too much money to let a little cosmetic damage and steering system damage stop me. $700 will fix the damage, and some, but it sure as hell won’t cover the rest of the paint and body work.
$1500?!~?!?!??! can’t you fight it?
why not buy a shell and swap everything over?
[QUOTE=davidhtam;1928153]$1500?!~?!?!??! can’t you fight it?

When my car was totaled, i told them the deal. i told them what i had done to the car and that i didnt wanna take such a loss. So they told me i could switch everything back to the original parts (or close enough for all they cared) and they would still give me the same money.
my suggestion to you is try and find another DA. swap the parts over and get your $1500 from the insurance company.
They sure don’t like to give blue book for the car. They are low balling you for sure.
problem is, that i don’t have the stock parts anymore. sold them all a while back when i had fallen on hard times. so if i want my parts, i have to keep the car. i didn’t have any intentions of getting rid of this one anyway. i’ve got access to some cheap parts (some free) and i’ll just be out a little bit of my time. and since the car was due for a paint-job before the wreck anyway. all i’ll have to do is put a new fender on (inner fender etc. as well), get the front end alignment checked, and just have the car painted down the road.
yeah i’m getting low-balled, and it hurts, but i just can’t bring myself to get rid of this one. ESPECIALLY since its fixable. i don’t want to see someone else finish what i started. it wouldn’t feel right at all. so i’ll finish the project, park it, and then hand it down to one of my kids (if i have another, which is also part of my wishlist) if i don’t have another kid, then I’ll hand it down to Alessa (my daughter)
this is what I told my wife and friends about the Integra.
“If I don’t have anymore kids, I’ll give it to Alessa when she turns 18”
“If I have a son, I’ll pass it to him, instead, but he won’t get it until he’s 42”
BTW, car is home (well, at my dad’s house anyway) that’s where its going to be repaired. didn’t even have to pay a tow truck charge.
FRIENDS WITH TRAILERS TO TOW LOWERED CARS= PRICELESS!!
well good luck. i just get nervous with this kinda work…i can’t do it.
like i said, though. since its purely cosmetic, i can handle this easily. body shop examined it very thoroughly and took measurements etc. to determine that there is zero chassis damage. the only thing they are concerned about is one of the cross members had some paint chipping off of it, but they said that could be from anything considering how low the car is. may not be directly related to the crash. regardless, i’ll have it up on stands for a little while, take everything apart and make sure its all “true” and good enough to drive. if not, i see some aftermarket cross-members/traction bars in its future
thanks for the kind words, everyone. as they say in those damn “12 Step Programs”…
…“Now comes the healing process”

3116 including a full paint job?
just the passenger side would have been painted
Wow they really low balled your car. I got rear ended about 2.5 years ago and the estimate came out to $3400. The cut the check and all was good. I’ve got a 91 LS. I was a little worried about them trying to total it but it was someone else who hit me so I could have put up a good fight if they tried to pull some crap.
