Rebuilding "Blue"

anything i can use in my defense to try to get a better offer out of it? the more money, the better. the more loot, the sooner this thing is back in A+ shape.

print off every ad you can find for integras for sale in the price range you want to get for it. a friend of mine did that when his got hit and they upped their offer to match what the cars were selling for locally.

^do that and what does kbb.com say when you enter all of your info on it? I would think that even it would be more than $1500.

Man, that sucks. I’ve been following this thread since I saw you posted “totaled it” in the what have you done…thread that day. Your car is the very first one I saw the first time I visited this site. Im glad youve decided to keep it. I agree you should fight for more money from the insurance company. Good luck dude.

by KBB’s definition in Private Party Value, its in “Good” Condition, body shop also concurs.

I’ll do that, because $1500 is BS, imo. After all is said and done, i’ll be getting a check for $7xx, which is horse-shit to be honest. that doesn’t even cover the cost of the suspension parts i bought (THAT I SENT RECEIPTS/INVOICES TO PROVE)

That is too small. Its more like WHALE-shit!

I got the same number from KBB $2080 and that is what you should get. WTF did they give you trade in value?

most likely, yeah. i sent over all the receipts etc. from all the parts i ordered and installed in the last few months to try to get a few more bucks out of it.

lol thats not bad! sucks but geez thats an easy fix! part it out hell no! u could fix that in a day if u wanted 2 geez

picked up a new fender today from a friend of mine. only cost me $20.

i’m going to start prepping it for paint tomorrow after work. gonna sand it down and get it primered

No shit man, when they totaled out my 91 GS it was WAY junkier then Jake’s car and I still got $2400 for it!

I bet you were expecting something like Jake received on that car then. I did find out today from a guy who deals with painting cars they insurance companies only payout 70-80% on the blue book value of the car. That is just whack.

Jake I talked to that guy today he said he knows who you are he has family that lives in the house behind yours. He said it would be around 2K or so for a full paint job on your car. But he would still need to look at it.

Marshall, you’re a gentleman and a scholar.

tell him as soon as i get it back together and drivable again, i’ll meet up with him anytime. and you said he’d be able to take care of the couple of rust spots? obviously he’d need to look at them to confirm, but i assume he’s done rust work before?

I did mentioned the rust and he did not say anything about it. I am pretty sure he has done rust before because he paints cars for a living. He told me yesterday he wet sands the entire car when he paints them. I bet that is a fun job. I talk to him and either give you his number or give him yours. Ill keep you posted.

Not only that, but they’re a total pain in the ass to deal with. It wasn’t even my fault and it took them two weeks to even get a damage quote on it, and they only authorized THREE days for a rental car, and I still had to pay the insurance thing for the rental, and I was only allowed a certain amount per the rental per day, which I was not told until I already went to a rental place and had to argue with them on the phone. Overall it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever gone through and I’ll NEVER do business with State Farm…I am glad things seem to be going ok for Jake…and I certainly can’t wait to see it restored.

I never been in a wreck yet and hope I never am. I was ran off the road once and given a rental until my car was fixed which only took about 6 days. I have Western Agricultural through Farm Bureau. No idea if they are any good but they don’t raise my rate for speeding tickets :). Anyway Jake like I said if I got the time and you want some help hit me up.

sounds good homie.

for those that would care to know, i started tearing it apart today  got the fender off and there is no major structural damage whatsoever. there is a small bit of dented material towards the bottom rear of the fender mounting spots, but its more cosmetic than critical.

a few bends with a set of vice grips and everything pretty much lines up again.

pics of it, in its most naked state ever, will be posted later tonight or tomorrow.

while i’ve got ONE fender off, i might take the other one off and do a little wire tucking :naughty:

nothing major, probably just the headlight harnesses and fan switch wiring etc. :blah:

Might as well do something while it is MIA

:werd:

while i’m waiting on my insurance check so i can afford to get the fender painted, i’ll do some “tucking” to keep me busy and pass the time

Great to hear your rebuild has started! You had it looking fresh, it’ll be back in no time. In regards to the tuck, check out BLKACK1’s thread, we went kinda mild on that (still has stock fuel filter, prop valve/brake lines not tucked, no T/B mounted map, evap canister still in place). It’s not too bad at all though

ironically, i just printed the first few posts in his thread so i could have something to reference against. I’m not going to be doing anything about the engine harness for now. THAT will be put on hold until i get my new motor put together, and when its ready to go in. for now, it’ll just be some extremely mild tucking. just the headlight harnesses etc. for the time being.

might go ahead and remove my PS etc. while i’m at it
