Rebuilding "Blue"

i have a new inner fender on the way from a friend of mine, however i need all the little plastic screws/hardware that attaches it to the car. which number is the kit that i need on this diagram from Del Ray Acura:

i need to know which number/part number it is so i can get this stuff ordered asap. some of them were broken in the wreck, and the others were broken when i took off the inner fender.

well crap you already got the inner fender? let me check my parts car and see what i have for the screws. I’ll hit you up on vadriven tonight.

p.s. fight the insurance company. I was backed into at a bar about 6 months ago and they busted the d. side 1 peice headlight, fender and scuffed up the front bumper. The insurance company was trying to total my car too but i went to a few shops, got estimates and fought with them till they gave me enough to fix it.

wanted to post pics for memories.
ironically, i just printed the first few posts in his thread so i could have something to reference against. I’m not going to be doing anything about the engine harness for now. THAT will be put on hold until i get my new motor put together, and when its ready to go in. for now, it’ll just be some extremely mild tucking. just the headlight harnesses etc. for the time being.

might go ahead and remove my PS etc. while i’m at it :)
You need to drive my car before you decide to remote the PS. You might not like it though it is not as bad as it was when we just removed the belt. At a stop you cant turn without putting your weight on the wheel. I will be in town sometime this week so ill let you drive it then. When you off next?

Guess I will get to see your injured DA too. Might shed a tear… j/k

Huh? How is it possible for it to be THAT hard to turn the wheel? Even when I had the widest wheels I’ve owned (8 inches), it was pretty easy to turn. If you have 6 or 7 inch wheels it’s so easy you can do it with one hand. And come on now, I’m a girl! :stuck_out_tongue:

angela, are you referring to the crx? those things are easy to steer without power steering, since they never came with it to begin with. a “pump-less” and gutted power steering system will be a tad difficult, as the steering rack is used to having fluid pressure run through it. as long as there is a little fluid left in the rack, and all the pressure is gone, its not TOO bad.

either way, I’ll drive yours, Marshall, before I make the decision. when we took the belt etc. off that day, it wasn’t TOOOO bad without it, but definitely something to get used to.

btw, thanks everyone for the kind words. i’m actually getting a few extra bucks out of the deal.

my insurance company offered me a few hundo better than before, so I settled on $1200 after all is said and done. AFTER the buy back deduction, salvage fees, my deductable etc. offer went from $700 to $1200 just after some easy negotiations. verified most of the new parts etc. and they set me up with a substantially better offer. so NOW, i’m going to get a JDP front lip and a set of side skirts.

Haha, no…I mean my DA I have now. I’ve gone through 3 different sets of wheels and noticed the thinner the wheel, and the lower the profile of tire, the easier it is to turn. I’ve got fat fives right now and it’s still pretty easy. I think you’ll be fine…and I’d go through with it, not having p/s makes you feel closer to the road!

That sucks about the accident.
Just to offer some perspective, my integra is pretty clean inside and out, 127k miles, failing clear coat on the roof, straight body. Guy backs into me at 5-10mph. Bumper wrecked, hood bent, 1 headlight toast, that’s about it. I got quotes from a couple different places for 2500 to 2800 to fix with oem parts. Not bad. I go in to State Farm (his insurance) to have them take a look, they cut me a check for 3700! Without buyback it would’ve been 4300! 1200 seems a little low. But what’s done is done, just some FYI. Good luck rebuilding man.

Removing the PS and at a stand still it is impossible to turn the wheel even on gravel. I did have both front tires off the ground and i could spin the wheel front one side to the other with no effort at all. But while on the ground and not moving you need to stand on the steering wheel to turn it. While driving it has some stiffness to it but it is no where as hard as it is with just removing the belt.

That is the difference of you going to another persons insurance to get it repaired when someone else hit it and going to your own to get it fixed when you wrecked it on your own. Jake if I remember right has AIG. Probably another reason he got low balled.

You suck. I wont have money for that kinda candy for a long time. By then that thing will be like 300. Oh well. I like my house better then the JDP lip  but not much lol

That’s odd, I’m not trying to argue, but I CAN do it. It’s not easy, and I DO workout… :stuck_out_tongue: but I’d say the only trouble I’ve had was turning around in a one way parking lot once. I was actually breathing heavy when I finished haha

can’t wait to see the car back in action

and as soon as i can get some paint and clear, it WILL be back in action

it will unfortunately have to roll with a mild dent behind the passenger door (see the pics i posted a couple pages back) but otherwise will be back in top form.

where is a good place to order the paint?

i need B62-P, Captiva Blue Pearl and a decent clear coat.

i only need enough to do the fender. MIGHT respray the bumper while i’m at it, as there have been a few paint chips that have bothered me for some time.

As far as I can tell you only need to order the base color. Your paint it a tri-stage paint like mine so the the mid coat is where the pearl is applied. The base coat will be easy to match but the mid coat probably wont be as easy. You will probably see a color difference in the color once you paint it. Kinda like that mirror. Also the brand of paint will make a bit of difference.

Edit:
Actually it looks like a basecoat/clearcoat paint job. That will be easier to do. Just make sure you use the right color primer or the color will be way off. Not that is matters but the color code is B62P-S :stuck_out_tongue:

UP-F’ing-DATE!!!

here’s what i have been up to lately

did every single thing you can possibly do to it all by myself. never did any bodywork before in my life, and was told by a friend who does bodywork that it almost looks professional. i’m very proud of myself, and extremely pleased with the outcome.

easy access to paint, and having an uncle who kicks enough ass to hook me up with his paint gun for the weekend FTMFW!

there is still a bit of orange peel, but i am going to let it cure for a day or so before i go wet sanding it and buffing out all the orange peel etc. once that’s done, i’m putting the car back together and driving the S.O.B.

does it match? looks a bit too blue. wetsand that bitch and it should look pretty good! painting single pieces are wayyyy easier than paint a car. One day, i will repaint my car piece by piece…haha

Alright get that fender fix and get back out to the road imcnblu!!!

yeah it matches. its actually just a hair darker than the rest of the car. but Captiva Blue Pearl is SUPPOSED to be the shade of blue that’s pictured. the rest of the car has 16 year old paint, so its a little “faded” and looks a little lighter that it should. but its a definite match  another thing that may make it look a little off is that all my Integra pics are outside with variable lighting depending on the time of day. since these pics were taken inside my dads tool building, the lighting is a little more “controlled”

thanks for all the compliments, though. i’m waiting for my new inner fender to arrive, and the car will be ready to drive

i’m also going to redo my carbon fiber hood this week as well

 that fender came out great

car is going back together tomorrow (weather permitting) all parts are painted/cleared.
