RS*R Ex Mag vs. Greddy SP2

I’m running a Car Sound high-flow cat mated to my RS*R Ex-Mag. It was purchased on Ebay for like $50 I think. I say that Ebay is the best route for getting an aftermarket cat.

I’m in the same predicament. I’ve narrowed it down to either RSR exmag or Greddy SP2. The RSR sounds great, but I might be looking for something a little louder… anyone care to post a clip of the SP2???

sound clip of the GTII somebody???

Well so far the Rs-R sounds and looks nice, according to everyone, but check out this pic and look at how off center and low it hangs on this guy’s Rs-R muffler

Also I heard the sp2 on our car and it sort of sounds like the 350Z’s or G35’s stock exhaust just maybe 10-12% louder. I’m personally am going to go with the Greddy Sp2 because it makes more dyno proven power at the wheels than Rs-R, personally it looks better, and if I pay over $450+ for an exhaust system, I NO-WAY-IN-HELL want it to sound “near” stock, but thats just my $0.02

I am running the Tanabe Hyper Medallion off of a Crx and I really like the sound of it a lot! And the fitment is really good too! After an extension here and there obviously!

What makes a big difference in how it hangs is how the adapter is used for 92-93 models. If it isn’t on correctly, the error is amplified at the exhaust tip. It may only be off by 1/4" at the adapter, but 1"+ at the tip.
Mine hung too low at first when the adapter was not correct. I had to take it all down, and compare it side to side with the stock curves. After it hung a little higher than the picture above and centered.

And yes, the comparison to the stock 350Z is good, I’ve noticed this too as they accelerate past me. The RS-R is ~15% louder.

I want some proof of that!!! Did your hear that they make more dyno power or its a true fact that you saw somewhere???

I have had owned both of these exhausts and am currently running the rs-r. In my opinion from the minimul power if/any that you are gaining from the exhaust I felt more with the rs-r. The sp2 was to loud & the tip sat to far out the back for my liking. Below are 2 old pictures of the sp2 that I had.

Here’s your proof-916-424-4783-in house dyno to prove it to you, and if they’re nice enough they might even fax you the dyno graphs from the Greddy SP2 vs. Rs*R, greddy pulls out atleast 5 more horsepower to the wheels, oh yeah and its $485 installed out the door!

Thats exactly why you think that Rs*R gives you more horsepower, its because of the fact its quieter, you pay more attention to the engine than the tone of the exhaust when you have a more quiet tone, believe me, I use to have a Apex’i Turbo N1 muffler on my car w/ 2 1/4 cat-back, I know what “loud” is, I also thought that by taking off the exhaust I felt more power, but it just goes back to what I said earlier, you pay more attention to the motor when your exhaust quiets down.

Did I say that or give you that impression? That’s not what I meant. Also the pictures above are after I cut the adapter in half to move the tip back.

got it, thanks. Your probably right.

Points should be:

Loudness: SP Louder

Power: SP slight more power

Quality: equal?

Look: matter or opinion, similar single large diameter exhaust.

Yea, really it comes down to FUCK what everyone thinks and go with what “YOU” want, I’m still going with the Greddy SP2, because if thats how much the Rs*R still sticks out even after he shortened it like in that pic, then I’m not going for that shit.
Plain and Simple :getsome:

1 shop around here hates the Greddy because of rust and fitment issues. And praises Tanabe and RS*R (they mostly work with imports).

While another shop doesn’t like RS*R because of rusting they have had complaints about from customers. And love the Greddy and Tanabe.

Just more info, I don’t know. I know my brother has the Tanabe hyper medallion and it sounds amazing. People also forget that the sound also matters on if its a straight pipe, cat, or high-flo cat.

Weird, I have never once heard of a Greddy exhaust not fitting and arent all there exhaust stainless steel?? My SP2 fit perfectly, and its been on my car for close to 3 years here in the northwest and there isnt one spec of rust on it anywhere.

To tell you the truth, you cant really go wrong with either of these exhaust (SP2 or Ex-mag). Just know the SP2 is a little louder and other than that just choose which one you think looks better.

FINALLY!!! Somebody talkin with some GOD DAMN BRAINS! :iagree:

does the rs*r exmag exhaust or greddy sp2 come with the catylitic converter? because these exhausts seem pretty pricey.

no thats why they call it a “cat-back” everything back after the cat.

anyways i ordered my tanabe yesterday from World One. $500 installed. Can’t wait!
